I spent my whole vacation inside the house. Pagkatapos nung nangyari between sa amin ni Ranzell ay nawalan na ako ng gana na lumabas.
I tried to text him but eventually stop myself. My pride is really taking over me. I mean, it wasn't even my intention to offend him or something. I don't even know why would he thought of that.
It's been a week since the school year started. As usual, Mom and Dad are always busy. I'm not even sure if they know the strand that I took. My Dad asked me about it before but I was still undecided that time.
I am on my way to the canteen to meet up with France and the others. I stop on my track when I heard someone called my name.
“May!”
I looked back to see Carlo, one of my classmates running towards me. I turn to him then smile.
“Hi, is something wrong?” I asked.
He shook his head then smiled.
“Wala naman, itatanong ko lang sana kung ano ang dish na ipe-prepare mo next week? Para lang may basehan ako” he said then smiled cutely at me.
I smiled then rolled my eyes at him jokingly.
“Actually, I'm still thinking about it. But I guess I'll try the simple dishes first. Nag sisimula pa lang naman tayo.” I said.
He nodded his head then smiled.
“Salamat. Wala kasi akong mapala kay Marina eh. Pareho namang nagsisimula sa letter M yung pangalan niyo pero boplaks yung isang yun..”
If I'm not mistaken Marina is his cousin.
Natawa ako sa sinabi niya.
“Ang sama mo” natatawang sabi ko.
We went to the canteen together, still talking about the things needed next week. When we enter the canteen, I wave my hand at him to say goodbye. He did the same.
I walk towards France table. France, Alexa and her two friends are only sitting in there.
“Where's David and the others?” I asked.
“Patay na” Alexa said.
Tumaas ang kilay ko at nagtatanong ang mata na bumaling kay Alexa.
“LQ” she murmured when I sat down beside her.
I nodded my head and just get my lunch on my bag and started to it. I am chewing my food when my eyes accidentally meet Ranzell's intense stare.
My lips parted a bit and I panicked. I averted my gaze and looked at the food in front of me. I guess he is still mad at me. Should I be the one to say sorry? Is it my fault? I never intend to offend him, but does he know that?
I pursed my lips. Probably not. I glance on his way again and he is still looking at me. I pouted my lips and lower down my gaze.
I continued eating, ignoring his stares and my racing heartbeat. Bago ako matapos kumain ay umalis na siya dahil bigla siyang tinawag ni Syndy.
After I finish my lunch, I excused myself to go in the Food Laboratory. Iniwan ko kasi kanina doon yung portfolio ko pagkatapos ng klase namin. Nakalimutan kong kailangan ko nga pala yun para mamaya. Nandoon nakalagay yung reviewer ko.
Binuksan ko ang pinto bago pumasok pero agad ding natigilan ng makita kung sino ang nasa loob. Natigilan din siya sa ginagawa at nag angat ng tingin sa akin.
I averted my gaze from Ranzell and just went to my sit. I glance at him and saw him taking out the notebooks in the table. I immediately looked down when he looked my way. I bit my lip because of the awkward atmosphere.
Nang makuha ang portfolio sa ilalim ng desk ko ay naglakad na ako papunta sa pinto. I was about to grab the handle of the door when I felt a hand on my wrist.
My lips are parted as I look back at him. He is biting his lip with a torn expression on his face.
“W-what?” I asked and slowly take my hand away from him.
He sigh before look away. Kumunot ang noo ko at tatalikod na sana ng magsalita siya.
“Galit ka ba?” he softly said while looking at me.
I torn my gaze away from him, feeling uneasy.
“I-i...I'm not” I said then turn to him again. “Are you?”
He pursed his lips then shakes his head. Tumaas ang kilay ko. Liar.
“Really? You're not mad at me?” I asked again.
He looked away then scratch the back of his neck.
“Hindi nga”
“Hindi naman talaga dapat. I didn't mean anything specially offending you that time.”
He didn't spoke for a minute.
“Sorry, hindi ko lang nagustuhan yung sinabi mo. Nakaka-offend kasi yung dating sa akin.”
I bit my lip and sigh.
“I'm sorry too. It's not...I didn't mean to offend you. I just want to give you a gift, that's all.”
Tumaas ang kilay niya atsaka naglakad papalapit. I panicked for a bit but remain standing on the same spot.
“Para saan?” he asked while grinning widely.
“It's....a thank you gift.” I said then look away.
He nodded his head then pursed his lips.
“So balak mo akong bigyan ng t-shirt bilang regalo?” he asked.
I nodded my head.
“Yeah, I mean since-”
“Ayoko”
I was taken aback he said that. Ayaw niya?
“Wag mo akong bibigyan ng t-shirt bilang regalo kahit na kailan.” he said with a serious tone.
My brows furrowed.
“Why? Why not?” I asked.
Nag iwas siya ng tingin at hindi sinagot ang tanong ko. It got me more curious when I saw his slightly red ears.
“Ranzell...” I called for him.
“Why? Bakit ayaw mong bigyan kita ng shirt?”
He pursed his lips then looked at me.
“What?” mataray na tanong ko ng hindi niya ako muling sinagot.
“K-kasi....sabi ng matatanda..-” he paused then sighed.
I waited for him to speak again.
“Sabi nila hindi mo daw makakatuluyan yung taong nagbigay sayo ng t-shirt bilang regalo.” nakangusong sabi niya habang nakaiwas ng tingin.
I look at him, dumbfounded by what I just heard. Nang makabawi ay hindi ko napigilan ang tawa ko na ikinakunot ng noo niya.
“What?” natatawang sabi ko.
“Naniniwala ka doon?”
“Oo, proven and tested kaya yun” nakangusong sabi niya.
“Really? Then if that's the case then I should really give you one. So you would not end up with me” natatawa pa ring sabi ko.
“But I do.” he said seriously.
Natigil ako sa pag tawa at nagugulat na tumingin sa kaniya. His face is very serious now.
What does he mean?
“I do want to end up with you sweetheart” he added seriously.
Hindi maalis sa isip ko ang sinabi ni Ranzell kanina. Why would he say that? Is he really hitting on me? Does he like me?
I sigh and rested my head on the backrest. I am on my home right now and my mind won't just stop thinking about it.
Why am I so affected anyway? It's not like I care.
When the weekend came, I come over into Ricca's house for a sleepover. We do this often before everyday.
“So, how was your first week as a senior?” she asked while we are getting ready to sleep.
“It was fine. I'm doing....well. What about you?”
She sigh.
“It's hard. It's just the first week but I already felt like dying.”
I laugh at what she said. She took up HUMMS. She aims to be an attorney.
“You'll do well, love” I said to cheer her on.
“Anyway.....”
Nagtataka akong tumingin sa kaniya.
“What?” I said and started combing my hair.
She wiggled her brows with a teasing smile on her lips.
“What the hell Ricca?” natatawang sabi ko.
“Kamusta kayo ni Ranzell mo?”
“W-what?” nagugulat na tanong ko.
What the hell?
“Bati na ba kayo?” she asked smirking.
I pursed my lips then look away. I told her about that encounter at the mall. Eversince then, she keep shipping me with Ranzell.
“Well....I guess.” I said.
Nag usap naman na kami...kaya siguro okay na.
“Your not sure?” she asked.
I looked at her.
“We already talked, okay. So I guess we are fine.”
“Yieeeeee” she squealed.
Naiiling na tiningnan ko siya.
“Love, I really feel that-”
“Ricca, shut up okay? Ranzell and I.....we are not happening. So wake up and shut up.”
Nginiwian niya ako atsaka inirapan.
“Psh, if I know” she murmured.
I just ignored her as I settled myself in the bed. She lay down beside me holding her phone. I took my phone on the bed side table and decided to open my facebook account.
I have 12 new notifs, 2 friend requests, and 3 unread messages. I checked the notifs but I ignored the friend requests.
I checked out the messages. One is a messages request, the other one is from France. She's asking if where am I. I replied and told her where I was.
I pursed my lips when I saw the last one message. It's from Ranzell. He said hi and he's online right now. I ignored his message and posted a status.
Nag post ako ng picture ko at ni Ricca kanina. Just a few minutes I already have ten hearts. I checked my messages again and it was from Ranzell.
RD Dizon,
      Sino siya?
Tumaas ang kilay ko. He probably saw my post.
May Perez,
        My bestfriend. Why do you ask?
He replied instantly.
RD Dizon,
       Wala naman, maganda siya. Anong pangalan?
My brows furrowed as I stare at his reply. Is he interested with Ricca?
May Perez,
         Why? Do you like her?
I pursed my lips then waited for his reply.
RD Dizon,
       Hahaha hindi. Bat mo naman natanong?
Umismid ako at nag type ng reply.
May Perez,
         You said she's beautiful, right?
RD Dizon,
      Pag sinabi kong maganda, gusto ko na agad? Hahahah
May Perez,
        Yeah, cause you find her beautiful.
I bit my lip and waited for his reply. Lumipas ang ilang minuto ay hindi iyon dumating. Nag scroll muna ako sa newsfeed ko.
I bit my lip when he already sent a reply.
RD Dizon,
      Mas maganda ka para sa akin
My lips parted at his reply. I pursed my lips to hide my smile.
May Perez,
        So?
RD Dizon,
       Ibig sabihin mas gusto kita kesa sa kaniya.
I bit my lip hard. I felt like my face hit up. Wala sa sarili kong ipinaypay ang kamay sa sarili.
“Naiinitan ka ba?” tanong ni Ricca habang nagtatakang nakatingin sa akin.
Nahihiya akong umiling.
“H-hindi. Hindi naman.”
Nagbalik ako ng tingin ng mag message na naman muli si Ranzell.
RD Dizon,
       Mali pala hahahaha. Mas gusto pala kita kahit na kanino.
Gosh, he's...he's crazy.
I instantly logged out the moment I read his reply.
Bakit ba bigla bigla na lang siyang gumaganoon? Why does he keeps giving me signals? Is he....really flirting with me?
I turned to Ricca who is typing something on her phone.
“Ricca....” I called her.
“Hmm?”
“What if....someone...I mean...”
“What?” nagtatakang tanong niya.
I sighed.
“Paano kung....yung lalaking kinaiinisan mo ay.....he's trying to hit on you?”
Tumaas ang kilay niya habang nakatingin sa akin.
“So he's flirting with you?”
“Yeah” I said then nodded.
“Eh ano naman ngayon? You don't have to get affected if you don't like him, right?”
I pouted and nodded. She's right. If he really is flirting with me, then I shouldn't get affected by it.
“Do you like him ba?” ahe asked.
“Of course not” I said.
“Nilalandi ka ba ni Ranzell?” she asked suspiciously.
I averted my gaze and pursed my lips.
“N-no, of course not.”
She nodded.
“Sabagay wala naman nga pala siyang gusto sayo diba?”
“Yeah”
He doesn't like me.
“Iniinis ka lang niya ng sobra diba?”
“Yeah”
He's just annoying me.
“Gusto mo siya diba?”
“Yeah”
I like him.
My eyes widen as I realise what the hell I just said. Nasundan iyon ng nakakainis na tawa ni Ricca.
I glared at her but she only made a peace sign.
“I don't like him, okay?”
“Hindi yan ang sabi mo kanina May Ann” she said teasingly.
“You are so annoying” naiinis na sabi ko.
“Pero mas nakakainis siya diba?”
I rolled my eyes at her making her laugh.
“Gusto mo siya, diba?” she repeated.
I glared at her and was about to grab her hair but she was fast go get out of the bed. I pursed my lips, annoyed that she keeps laughing at me.
“Tama na kasi, nakakainis na” nakangiwing sabi ko.
“Okay, okay” natatawang sabi niya atsaka muling naglakad papalapit sa sa kama.
“Matutulog na ako” I said and turn my back at her.
I heard her laugh.
“Okay, hope you dream of-”
She didn't finish what she's suppose to say when I turned to her and pinch her.
“Aww, masakit yun ahh” she said pouting.
“Shut up” asik ko sa kaniya at saka umayos ng higa.
I find a comfortable position to sleep. Ricca is still on her phone. For some reason I feel sleepy but I can't sleep. Hindi tumitigil ang utak ko kakatakbo. I sigh and just close my eyes but eventually open them instantly when I saw Ranzell's smiling face.
What the hell?
