“Madam, this is the school work I collected earlier." Aiden handed the books to madam. Naturally, this has been his routine task considering he is the head of the 5D Round class.
Every batch has eight classes. The first class is Emerald, the second class is Baguette, the third class is Oval, the fourth class is Pear, the fifth class is Cushion, the sixth class is Heart, the seventh class is Marquise while the last class is Round. The class names were based on the type of diamond given that the school itself is named diamond.
And Aiden and his friends, of course, were in the last class since they are too lazy to study even though in exam. That also makes their result failed in every subject.
“Oh, Aiden! A million thanks to you but can you help me something once more? Would you please send this box to the store room? These books are old, it's better to keep it in the store first so we can recycle it later.” Madam Nina's finger was pointed at a box on the floor.
“Okay.” Aiden obey even in his heart he said the opposite.
Who the hell pointed him to be a class leader? Well, who else? Of course, his dumb friends. There are absolutely no characteristics of a class leader in him. Of course, this has been just the intention of his friends to make fun of him.
Being a class leader has many responsibilities. For example, he need to monitor his classmates in the classroom when there is no teacher, need to set foot in the teacher's room to send attendance or school work and help teachers with extra work.
All those tasks are very burdensome for Aiden but there is nothing he can do. It's not like he doesn't want to help the teacher, it's just, he is too lazy to help the teacher.
He bent his body slightly to lift the box while he non-stop to swearing Madam Nina slowly.
“Oh shit, I’m too lazy to do this. Why the hell I should do this? Can she even do this work herself? Just how lazy can she be? Probably more lazy than I am.”
“Sorry Aiden, are you talking to me?” Madam Nina asked when she heard Aiden whispering.
“Eh, no, no. I was singing, hehe. Then, I will take my leave.”
He walked until he arrived at the store room which was on the top floor of the building. Aiden inhaled and exhaled slowly. He tried to rest himself as he was tired of going upstairs carrying a box.
‘The door is open? Is there anyone inside?’
“Sorry but is there anyone inside? Can I come in?” Aiden asked as he pushed the door open wider. He began to set foot into the storeroom without waiting for a response.
“Ai-Aiden?”
Aiden stopped from walking when he heard the voice. He looked up, looking at the girl who called his name.
“Um, oh, it’s you.”
Damn, he can't believe this. Just about yesterday, Marcus spoke about destiny. It feels like Marcus is a fortune teller.
Mabella smiled shyly. “Ple-please call me Mabel.”
“Sure, but why are you here? And what are you doing up there?” Aiden asked while looking at Mabella who was standing on an aluminium ladder. That nerd, she really looks like she afraid of nothing, huh?
First thing, she is not afraid making a public confession and second she is not afraid standing at the top level of aluminium ladder.
She is so impressive.
“Oh, I’m- I’m cleaning up the store room. I’m on duty today.”
"Why so serious? You can just skip your job. After all, if you clean this store room, it will still get dirty again. Don't waste your time." Aiden makes a strange face.
“No- no! Even if it like that, e- even if this tsore room will get dirty again, I-I cannot let it slide. if we don't clean it, it will be dirtier than usual. Not- not to mention, I-I cant skip, its my turn today. It would be unfair if other students did their duty and I didn’t.” Mabella vigorously shook her head.
Aiden smirk. How can he forget that she is a nerd? Of course she would be a schema student who listened to every teacher's word.
“That’s so kind of you.” Aiden reply. Indeed, every student has their turn to clean this store room but Aiden and all his classmates have never done that. Suddenly, he felt guilty. Is it okay to slack off?
“Not really. Oh, you-you can pass the box to me.” Mabella asks for the box from Aiden. She held out her hands to take the box from Aiden.
“Is it okay?” Aiden looks at Mabella who was sitting on an aluminium ladder. He was a little worried about giving the box to Mabella since she is so tiny, he feels like she can fall anytime if she hold anything heavy.
“It’s okay. I’m a little strong you know.” Mabella tries to convince Aiden. She showed her arm as if she was strong when there was no muscle at all.
Despite his hesitation, Aiden still handed the box to Mabella.
“Please be careful, this box is heavy.” Said Aiden in a worried tone.
Mabella smiled. She took the box and started to stand to place the box on the top shelf. She arranged the box carefully while Aiden just stood and watched Mabella as he worried that small girl might fall.
“See, I did it!” Mabella said proudly after she managed to place the box.
Aiden smiled. “Okay, okay. You can get down now and please be careful.”
Mabella came down from the ladder carefully. However, fate was not on her side. Since it was an old ladder, the ladder swayed as a result of the ladder’s foot being damaged and nearly broke.
Aiden widened his eyes when he saw the situation. Without thinking, he started running towards Mabella to save her from falling.
Ah, shit. Didn’t he just tell Mabella to be careful?
"Mabel, watch out!"
BUKK!
And now, the store room could only hear the sound of people falling.
