v. secret wealth
Celestia's Point of View I raised a brow at what Gallant just said. I almost forgot that he was rich, too. I thought he was secretly dating the nerd, but it turns out he wasn’t—though he did help her that day, so I assumed… But I should worry about that later. Right now, I need to clear up this misunderstanding. “Oh, I see. I really need this job, Gallant, so—” “No. We can’t afford to have lazy staff here anymore.” He walked past me and headed inside. I glared at him, but in the end, I followed. I had no other choice. I didn’t want to use my trump card. Never in my life had I experienced something like this, yet he dared to challenge Celestia Fontaverde? And why was he so hostile toward the nerd? “Galla—” “Sir. You should call me Sir.” “Sir, I—” “Lower your voice. I don’t want to disturb my customers.” If I could beat him up right now, I would’ve knocked him out already. He led me into his office and finally stopped, turning to face me. This time, his fiery gaze bore into mine. What did I do now? “I’ll allow you to work here again—under one condition, Renne.” Was that supposed to be a threat? “Stop acting like…” I cleared my throat, remembering I wasn’t in my real body. “I mean… be professional, Gallant.” His glare only grew colder. “Don’t ever think you can be like Celestia. Stop imitating her.” “When did I ever copy tha— that beautiful woman?” Yes. I’m confidently beautiful. I wasn’t given the title of social butterfly for nothing. But that was the least of my worries. What was this guy’s problem? I wasn’t the one acting weird—he was. He was always cold and distant, but now he was acting like a raging volcano. He often stopped me from using violence against that nerd. That’s why I thought they were in a relationship. “I know what you did! You used your clumsiness to harm Celestia. I brought you here to warn you.” I froze at his words. He… knows? Gallant walked over to his swivel chair and sat like a king on his throne. He looked me straight in the eye, his cold expression unwavering. “If you can promise me that you won’t ever harm her again, I’ll let you work here.” “Harm Celestia? Of course, I wouldn’t. I am Celestia,” I answered before biting my lower lip. “That! I already told you to stop imitating her.” He stood up, and this time, his gaze burned even hotter. I’ve had enough! I’m not cut out for this. I need a business, not a job. I hate being scolded, and I have no time for this double-faced man. He acts like he’s worried about me, yet every time we meet, he’s rude and keeps trying to stop me. There’s no point arguing with someone who’s already set on their beliefs. “I ain’t! And if that’s how you see it, then suit yourself.” I turned my back on him and reached for the doorknob. But before I could open it, his hand clamped tightly around my wrist. He really loves grabbing my wrist, doesn’t he? “Let go of me!” I struggled, but his grip only tightened. I spun around and shot him a deadly glare. He was crossing the line. “What is your problem?!” His brows furrowed as he stared at me, looking confused. Had he figured it out? That I wasn’t actually that clumsy, annoying nerd? He should believe me! It’s not like I need this job to survive. I still have my trump card. I’m not Celestia Fontaverde for nothing. “No… it can’t be. How’s that even possible?” he murmured. I rolled my eyes. It does sound unbelievable. Even I couldn’t believe it at first. “I know how that feels. But I am Celestia.” “No way. You’re a genius, and you actually believe in stuff like that?” His voice softened, as if he was starting to consider it. Was he finally believing me? Then again, he was the son of our school’s owner. He excelled in sports and mathematics. If he worked harder, he could easily replace that nerd. Gallant was the polar opposite of Sivy. He was cold and always seemed irritated. He had only a few friends. And he wasn’t dumb. “Sometimes, it’s better to believe in things beyond logic,” I replied. At last, he let go of my wrist. “I need proof,” he said. I didn’t have anything from home with me, but I had a way to prove it. I could just log into my social media account, but we all know that annoying nerd is smart. Gallant might assume I simply hacked into it. I wasn’t sure if Gallant would be on my side, but I needed him to be. For now, that witch had my body. She had power and money. If she came up with another scheme, next time, I might not survive. “I have proof. I can prove that I’m really Celestia.” He nodded. “If you hadn’t come here begging for a job, I might’ve believed you more easily. But look at you—” “That’s called practicality. I’m not in my mansion. How else am I supposed to survive?” “Yeah, I get it,” he admitted, stepping back slightly. “So? How will you prove you’re Celestia?” I smirked. When Mom started changing my wardrobe constantly, she had my old clothes thrown away. But that was a waste of assets, so instead of discarding them, I sold them. The workers I hired were former maids—ones who got fired because of her. Also, after my 10th-grade moving-up ceremony, Dad gifted me a card with one million in it. I bought an apartment where I kept my belongings, ones I never let Mom see. The only person who knows that… is me. As a Fontaverde, I paid people to keep their mouths shut. I used my own allowance. And I built a small clothing business. My secret wealth is my key. My trump card.
