Don paced back and forth. He couldn't rest, hasn't rested since Laura disappeared. He had tried his best to find her yet he hadn't. He had looked everywhere, it was starting to drive him crazy. Diane sat by the corner, she had a cigarette on her lips. How can she be so calm in situations like this, Don thought.
"Babe calm down. We're going to find her. She couldn't have gone far. I know she's not that smart" Diane told him.
"You don't know anything Diane. What if she spills? What if she goes to the police?" Don complained. Ever since she left Don had prepared himself in case they get raided by the police but it hasn't happened yet. Still he had to be prepared.
"She won't do that Don. She's smart enough to know that would be a bad idea" Diane said slowly as she took a puff.
"You just said she wasn't smart. What are you even telling me?" Don yelled.
"All I'm saying is she's not smart enough to go far but she's smart enough to know that going to the police would be a bad idea. You have nothing to worry about. If she went to the police they would have come here long ago. And it's not like they would find anything wen they come here. We're clean Don...we know to clear our tracks" Diane replied. Don knew she was right. Laura probably won't go to the police but he was so agitated he couldn't rest. He should have killed that bitch a long time ago.
Goddamit, he thought.
"Come on baby. Just rest a little. Everything will be fine. We'll find her" Diane told him. She led him to the couch and rubbed his shoulder to release him of stress. Just as she was about to kiss him they heard a knock on the door. The door flung open and one of Don's boys walked in.
"Boss" he greeted.
"Any news yet?" Don hurriedly asked.
"We couldn't find her boss but we got news" the boy said.
"What news?" Don asked. It was obvious he was running out of patience.
"Someone claims he saw someone like her leave town. He said she took a bus. He didn't know where she was headed because he dropped before she did"
"What!!!" Both Diane and Don exclaimed.
"That's not possible. She couldn't have left down. She doesn't have the money to do that" Diane said confused.
"Well obviously she's smarter than she seems. Juan get some of the boys, leave town, every state, search everywhere. Make sure you find her and when you do let me know. I'll go to her myself and make her pay" Don commanded.

The door bell of the supermarket rang and Laura watched the next customer walk in. She had been working since morning. Normally she had her shifts but the girl that worked with her fell sick so her boss asked her to fill in. She didn't mind as long as she got a raise. Laura had settled well enough in the town but she hadn't settled at heart. She didn't have that peace of mind she wanted because she was always on edge. She was afraid that she could still get caught. She hadn't fully trusted anyone....well anyone but Lolita. She just hoped she would never get caught because if that happens she would pay miserably. She didn't go to the police because she was scared and she didn't ever want to get involved in her past again and besides she would also be behind bars because she had been involved in their sick business for a long time. She just hoped they had forgotten her and gotten another girl to replace her and do their dirty work for them. The bell rang again and when Laura looked up Lolita was walking towards her.
"Hey Lola" Laura greeted cheerfully.
"Hello sweetie. I came to get some supplies" Lolita replied.
"Oh....ok. You know where to find them right?"
"Of course dear" Lolita walked away and when she returned she had all the supplies she needed with her. "Peter told me you called him yesterday to fix your roof" Lolita said....more like asked as Laura helped her pack the supplies.
"Yeah"
"It was a Sunday"
"So?"
"You don't work on Sundays Suzanne. Sundays are for churches and rest. You go to church on Sunday" Lolita argued.
"Yeah sorry. I forgot. Good news...he didn't do it. I got it handled"
"Don't tell me you climb that roof and fixed it yourself?" Lolita asked.
"I started to....that was the idea but a guy swooped in and helped me. Pretty annoying guy. That guy I told you I met at the grocery store the other day" Laura filled in.
"Doesn't he go to church?"
"He does. Said he was on his way back from church. Literally forced his way to my roof. So damn annoying and so smug...." She was saying but stopped when she noticed Lolita raise a brow.
"What's his name?" Lolita asked.
"I can't remember but I think it was Scott....I can't remember his last name but..." Laura replied but stopped when the bell rang and someone walked in. It wasn't just anyone. It was Mr smug himself. "Oh my gosh Lola he's here. What's he doing here?" Laura practically gushed.
"I'm guessing he came to get some stuffs the way every other person in town does" Lolita replied. Laura rolled her eyes. She watched from the corner of her eyes as he went round picking some stuffs. She wished he didn't have to come there. She wasn't ready to argue with anyone. She turned to attend to another customer while talking to Lolita.
"Roof girl right?" Scott asked. Laura rolled her eyes again.
"The name is Suzanne" she replied.
"Yeah Suzanne. I remember" he replied. Just before she could say any other thing Lolita chipped in.
"Scott. Scott Colby?" Lolita asked.
"Lola. Oh my God" Scott replied with excitement. Lolita drew him in for a hug.
You have got to be kidding me, Laura thought.
"Scott it is so good to see you. Haven't seen you in a while now. How are you doing?" Lolita asked.
"Eh... I'm doing fine. Taking care of Trixie on my own but it's all good" Scott replied. Laura packed his things and cleared her throat. She wasn't ready for the chit chat.
"I should be on my way now. I'll see you later Suzanne. Nice to see you again Scott, we need to meet because we have some catching up to do" Lolita said and immediately left.
"So...you know Lola?" Scott asked.
"Yeah. Met her when I got into town" Laura replied.
"You're new in town?" Scott asked.
Damn....too much information.
"Look I don't have time for chit. I'm busy" Laura replied.
"You look good... nice actually. Not like every other day you always look crazy. Talk crazy"
"I can see you have nothing better to say. If I'll don't mind I'll like to get back to work" Laura replied angry. He smirked.
"In case you don't know you're pretty when you get mad. And do you always like arguments" he said with a smirk. Just as she was about to reply a small girl ran towards him.
"Daddy" she screamed with excitement.
