After long break, no teacher came for his lesson. Godwin and likewise every other serious students were studying. Suddenly they saw teachers pass the windows in a hurry heading towards the SS2 block.
“What’s is going on?” People in Godwin’s class asked as some were already rushing to the window to see. Those who likes witnessing incidents were already surging out.
“Hey! All of you go back into your class” One of the teacher who was rushing to the place commanded them.
“Look at this four O clock-eye man is telling us to remain in our class. Is it not the same thing he is going there to see we also want to see? What can that eye that looks the opposite direction see there?” Peter said and immediately he started calling the same teacher “excuse me sir!”
“I said stay in your class time keeper” The man yelled.
“Why are you calling him? What do you want to tell him?” Godwin asked.
“I want to tell him to stay here while I go and see it. I will narrate to him a whatever I finds out. It’s better like that because, if he goes there and watch everything from the beginning to the end he will still not be able to understand what has happened”
Those who heard him laughed hysterically.
“Were you the time keeper?” Godwin asked as they went back to their seat.
“Who said so?” Peter retorted.
“That teacher called you time keeper”
“Oh! That nonsense human being. He calls me time keeper regarding what I did at JSS3”
“And what exactly was that?”
“One Friday, the school was boring so I went and ran the Bell for dismissal before time. They called me to the…”
David and Solomon came in.
“That’s not the funny part” David said. “I was called to the staff room for explanation. When they asked me I told them that opposed the idea of ringing the bell before time but he insisted until he succeeded and which he did without my consent and approval. So it was his turn to speak for himself. One of the teacher asked him what was the time when you rang the bell. He began to stammer. All we could hear was, half after, quarter sharp, past to, past after, and so on. Confusing everyone listening to him. When he was asked to state his reasons, they were endless. He said the class was boring, there was no lesson, there was unbearable noise, he had an appointment after the school, he was saving some of the hungry ones and those having headache and more..”
“But I was right. Any day we are not doing anything in school we rather go home and use that time for something better”
Those listening could not stop laughing. Suddenly a teacher called Jonas barged in holding a cane.
“Who are those making noise?” He asked but no body answered him. “Where is the class Monitor?”
David identified himself by raising his hand.
“Take down the names of noise makers. When next I come here I anticipate to see names on a full page”
“But sir” Peter snapped.
“What is it?”
“You asked us to stop making noise and subsequently you expect to see names of noise makers on a filling a complete paper. How possible? Should he write our names even when we are not making noise?”
“Look, you this mosquito in the shape of human. See, don’t make me loose my temper on you. Don’t tempt me otherwise you won’t see yourself better than someone who experienced hell”
“Sorry sir”
“Sorry for yourself” The teacher said and left.
As they noticed he has gone far they began to call Peter mosquito laughing. The noise was growing gradually.
“Class! I have began to write the names. If you like make noise. Your name will be in this paper” David announced.
“But I didn’t say anything bad, did I?” Peter asked the closest person.
“Your mouth will put you into trouble some day” a girl said.
“Is what I said wrong?”
“ No, it’s not, continue. Time will tell”
Lovett was becoming affable with the four friends especially Solomon. Every member of the group knows that Solomon has a spot for her but he finds it difficult to say it to her.
“You said you like a girl and you can’t walk up to her and tell her what you feel for her. They will see you not being man enough” David said. While they were outside. It was just Peter, Solomon and David. Peter was sitting on the window while the other two stood and both sides.
“Guy, chill. I know what I am doing. I am just taking things slow and gentle. When I am it’s time I will tell her”
“What will you be doing within these period of time? You’d better tell us you are shy to stand in here face” Peter criticized.
“Who told you? Look guys, there’s no girl I can not advance. Who said I am not confident enough?”
“Keep quiet. We know you. You have never done it before”
“That doesn’t mean I can not do it”
“So, what are you saying? To want to prove to us?”
“If that’s the only way I can convince you guys. Choose any girl from the premise”
Peter made haste to choose. He pointed at a petite lass. She looked small but fully developed which entails her age was some steps ahead of her size. Him alone knows why it has to be that girl.
“See who you choose for me, a small girl”
“Yeah. Because you are just starting. I don’t want you to face somebody who will look down on you. I wish to see your confidence” Peter explained.
“I will shock you guys. Do not marvel if she accept me that same time”
“I trust you. Fine boy no pimples” Peter kept making his head swell. As he was leaving they stared in suspense. Peter could not stop jeering and David could tell why he does that.
They kept watching from the distance. From Solomon’s gestures they comprehended it was floating smoothly. From the girl’s posture she was giving him listening ears. Solomon talked for about two minutes before they saw him sinking down to his kneel under the girl’s command.
“What’s happening?” David asked. “It’s like she asked him to kneel down”
Peter having known what would be did not stop laughing. He kept laughing.
“He is wooing an SS3 girl”
“Is that small girl in SS3?”
“YES”
Another SS3 boy saw them and went to know what was happening. He looked hostile already. Definitely Solomon won’t go unpunished.
“Guy you are wicked. Why that particular girl?”
“If you have a shrine in your village take this question to them”
“Its unfair. You have landed the poor boy Into trouble. Now see, they are taking him to their class and you know it will be a dungeon over there. Those guys there are brutal”
“Nobody knows it will go that way. It’s nobody’s fault. He is simply unlucky”
“David!” Lovett called. She was standing at the entrance. She beckoned on him to draw nearer. “Form master called us to the staff for our note books”
“Mr. Stones?”
“I don’t know that with you”
“But that’s what we call him”
“It’s none of my business. I am not calling him that”
“Hmm there are girls who wouldn’t allow anybody talk about some teachers in this school because they are dating” one of the girls that usually gossip about her said from the window. This statement stung Lovett so bad that she choose not to let go. She went close like she wanted their faces to touch.
“Look you this disgusting monster from unknown planet. I have not warned you before but let this be the first and the last time you will open this shit pit you call mouth to say what you don’t know about me. Because the next time you dare say a word about me whether directly or indirectly I will show you what I am made of”
“Shameless thing. You are not ashamed to say it openly, senseless fool. And let me also warn you. Let this be the last time you come to my face and open that smelling mouth to talk to be otherwise..”
“Otherwise what? Beat me? Really? I look forward to see a day like that. And I don’t mind it it’s now”
“Look who is throwing challenge. You are looking for who will break those bones of yours”
“Same way you are looking for who will drain those fat of yours”
“If you are scared wait at the gate after school”
“Are you sure about it? Good!”
“You are looking for trouble Sarah. You started this”
“Hey please shut your mouth there, personal body guard”
“Is that what you call me? Not bad, I expected worse names. Let me warn you. You better respect yourself before I report you for this”
“That is all you can do. What else? Go and report. I will also announce it to the school what’s been going on”
