Every fifth week of the quarter, teachers give students the performance tasks and we have a week or two to submit it. If it is a major subject, two perfromance tasks will be given. But, only one to the minor subjects. Since I'm a STEM student, our major subjects are basically focused on Science and Mathematics.
Eh 'di iyak na naman ang braincells ko nito.
Walang written works na ibibigay since this week is intended nga para sa performance tasks. That means, walang quizzes na pwedeng ibigay. Okay na rin, bawas bigat ng school works.
It's Monday now, kaya mage-expect na ako ng sunud-sunod na bigayan ng PT. Siguro once na may nagbigay na, gagawin ko na agad pero depende pa rin sa mood ko. Hindi naman maiiwasan 'yong times na tatamarin ka.
Unang subject, Philosophy. Nagbigay na agad si Sir Gonzales ng performance task which is an essay. Two weeks din ang binigay na deadline. But, nonetheless, I'll do it agad later after ng classes. Yes, puyat time!
During our break time, bumaba na muna ako dala ang iPad ko in case na magcontinue na ng discussion. And yeah, magluluto ako ng merienda dahil nagugutom ako.
"Okay, class, nandyan na ba ulit ang lahat?" rinig kong tanong ni Sir pagkabaligtad ko sa turon. "At dahil, good mood ako today, ia-announce ko na agad ito sa inyo. Pero, wag niyong sasabihin sa ibang section, ah? Atin-atin lang ito. So, next meeting, magpapa-graded recitation ako. Ang coverage is from module one to module five. Naintindihan ba?" Agad kong pinindot ang raise hand button. "Yes, Ms. Los Carlos?"
"Ah, sir, what would be the flow of the graded recit po?"
"Magtatawag ako randomly. Sasabihin ko muna 'yong question para makapagprepare kayo kahit papaano, saka ako magtatawag."
"Subjective po ba ang magiging sagot or objective?"
"It depends on the question I will give," he added.
"Okay po, Sir. Thank you po." Then, I pressed the same button to lower it. Humarap na agad ako sa niluluto ko para hindi masunog. Sayang ang effort at oras kung hindi lang din naman makakain.
Nakita kong bumaba si Mama pagkahain ko ng turon sa mesa. "Nagluto ka na namang bata ka. Ilan 'yan?"
"Walo, Ma. Inubos ko na po 'yong saba."
"Mabuti naman." Kumuha siya ng tinidor at platito bago naupo. "Kukuha ako isa. May klase ka pa ba?"
"Opo. Bumaba lang po ako para magluto ng merienda. Nagugutom ako eh."
"Kumuha ka na ng plato mo at magdala ka na ng merienda mo doon sa kwarto mo nang makapag-focus ka dyan sa klase niyo."
Ngumiti ako kay Mama. "Dito na muna ako. Tayo lang naman nandito sa bahay, Ma. Tapos na po ba klase niyo?"
"Pinagbreak time ko muna sila ng 20 minutes." Tumango ako. "Kakandidato ka ba sa SC?" Umiling ako. "Sayang. Ninang mo pa naman ang adviser niyo."
Agad akong nahinto. "Ninang?"
"Oo. Si Ninang Jessica mo. Wag mong sabihing 'di mo na siya tanda."
"Tanda ko pa naman siya, Ma. Nagulat lang po ako. Nagtuturo pala siya."
"Adviser siya ng 12 STEM-1 at head ng Science department. Ano, kakandidato ka ba?"
"Why not?" sabay tawa naming dalawa.
Basta may kakilala, g na.
Habang break time namin sa Komunikasyon, saktong nagchat 'yong adviser namin sa GC at in-announce 'yong info about sa upcoming SC Elections. Hanggang next week lang kasi ang filling ng COC.
Sa chat ni Sir Gonzales ay may nakalagay na link for those who are interested. And dahil nga gusto kong kumandidato, I clicked the link. Dito nakalagay ang guidelines, format ng COC, and 'yong submission box kung saan ipapasa lahat ng requirements. Agad kong ni-download ang COC at ni-fill up-an ito.
Saktong magsisimula pa lang ako sa paggawa ng CV nang magsalita ang teacher namin. Pagkatapos nito, ini-upload ko na lahat sa submission box at pinasadahan ang buong form bago i-submit.

Pagkatapos ng General Mathematics class namin, which is our last class, bumaba na ako at nakitang naghahanda na ng hapunan si Mama. "Oh, tapos na klase niyo?"
"Opo, kakatapos lang." Naglapag siya ng dalawang baso pagkaupo ko. "Nakapagsubmit na din po pala ako ng requirements."
Mama chuckled. "Gustong-gusto mo maging part ng SC noon pa man. Pero, ngayon, nagsubmit ka kasi si Ninang mo ang adviser. Kailangan ba may kakilala ka muna?"
"Nahihiya kasi ako, Ma. Kilalang kilala naman na ako ni Ninang kaya sure akong hindi niya ako bibigyan ng tasks na alam niyang hindi ko kayang gawin."
"Paano kung hindi siya ang adviser?" Sumimangot ako. "Paano nga lang eh. May chance na magpalit ng SC adviser anytime. Sa sagot mo, parang confident na confident ka eh."
"Eh 'di, push pa rin. As if namang may magagawa ako, Ma."
"Sure ka na dyan?" tanong niya habang natawa. "Sure ka na talaga?"
"Ano ba, Ma." Tuluyan na siyang natawa. "Susuportahan mo ba ako o ano?"
"Ayaw ko lang naman na magsisi ka sa ginagawa mo. Ubusin mo na nga 'yang pagkain mo at mag-aral ka na."
"Opo, Professor Los Carlos."
Pagkatapos kong maghugas ng pinagkainan, bumalik na ako sa aking kwarto at nagdrawing habang nagtuturo 'yong PEH 1 teacher namin. Why would I listen eh nakaka-antok itong subject na 'to? Walang thrill.
"What did you observe from the video?" agad kong pinindot 'yung raise hand button. "Yes, Ms. Los Carlos."
"From what I observed po, it is clear that the players weren't following the rules of basketball po. Almost all of their actions are considered foul po in a proper gameplay. There was also a player that got injured. I think, sa 3-minute mark po iyon ng video, which is also considered as foul. It is clear din naman po that they were just playing for fun, but rules must still be applied inside the court whether it is a serious match or not."
I turned off my mic and lowered my virtual hand. "Thank you, Ms. Los Carlos. Next, Ms. Real?"
Hindi ako nakikinig. Pero, it doesn't mean na wala na ang utak ko sa nile-lesson. I'm still giving this subject a little bit of attention, but not zero. Kaya alam ko pa rin kung anong dini-discuss.
Hindi naman sa lahat ng oras, dedepende ako sa cheating to pass. Kailangan ko pa rin mag-effort through participating often. I can't protect my throne by just coating my hands with dirt.
Nagbigay na ng PT ang teacher namin. We will just have to record a video with us playing our favorite sport. After kong magleave sa meet, pumasok na ako sa sunod naming subject which is Oral Communication in Context.

Shet. Hindi ba pahamak ako nito 'pag naging honest ako? "Uhm, Ma'am, since our subject is Oral Communication, I think debate would be the best choice. It is better than individual graded recitation since given that this is a group activity, we can all help each other po."
"Hmm, good argument. What do you think is the better, your decision or mine?"

Matapos ang lesson, since may 30 minutes pa naman, in-open na ni Ma'am 'yong discussion about sa performance task namin sa subject. "About sa performance task niyo, I actually came up with two ideas, which are individual graded recitation and group debate. One of your classmates suggested that I opt for group debate since it would be easy for all of you to help each other. So, 11 STEM-1, please press the raise hand button if you agree with the group debate."
To make it less suspicious dahil feeling ko, may idea na sila kung sino nagsuggest, nagtaas ako ng kamay. 20 kaming mga nagtaas ng kamay. Less in a minute, when Ma'am was about speak, nagtaas na ang lahat ng kamay. "So, everyone agrees with your classmate's suggestion. Should I pick your group, or girls versus boys?"
"Lugi kapag girls versus boys," Baste commented, chuckling. "We're only eight, Ma'am."
"So, should I pick?"
Magsasalita na sana ako nang magsalita si Leo. "I think we should go for girls versus boys, Ma'am. Even though girls are dominant in this section, we would still want to give this debate a shot." Good choice, then.
"Does everyone agrees with Mr. Olivares?" I clicked the heart reaction twice. Napuno ng heart reactions ang lower part ng screen. "Okay, good. I love you unity as a section. As for the topic, I have prepared five contemporary issues here. I will send a link in the chat box. Everyone is allowed to vote for two different options, but I will only choose the topic with most number of votes."
Nang pindutin ko ang link, may limang options na nakalista. Teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, capital punishment, mental health, and issues in cyberspace. Bumoto ako sa teenage pregnancy at drug addicts.
Don't hate me for not choosing mental health when it is the most controversial issue during the pandemic. It's just that, this topic is discussed almost every time in social media. There are also psychology-related pages getting more popular due to this. And, by that, I am confident to say na ibang topic naman ang dapat i-discuss.
"Drug addiction won the poll by 18 votes. So, here is the topic to argue. Should the drug addicts be punished according to the law or rehabilitated? To decide on who will take what side, we will do a virtual coin toss. Who will choose the head?" Boys raised their hands. "So, girls will take the tail."
In coin toss, 50/50 chance isn't correct. It is 49/51. 49% probability that we will start the argument since Ma'am started with the head side.
But, yeah, I'm flawlessly correct. "Boys will start the argument. Each side will have five minutes for their introductory argument. To rebut, raise hand button will be used. Only one representative per side will be allowed for interpolation. The argument will end once a side concluded their argument properly. Okay? Raise your hands if you have questions." Lima sa amin ang nagtaas ng kamay. Mga excited ah. "Yes, Ms. Real?"
"What would happen po if both teams got the same score?"
"Oh, in case of tie, a one-on-one debate will occur. One representative from each side will argue about the same topic." Nagpasalamat na si Ate Sab at nagbaba ng kamay. "Yes, Mr. Javier?"
"About what you said recently po, 'yong sa one-on-one debate. Can we use po ba the arguments that our teams used or should we provide different proof?"
"I will allow the first one, and also, it would be an advantage if you provide additional supporting details and evidence. Yes, Ms. Ferrer?"
"Ma'am, are we required to open our cameras during the debate?"
"No po. The two opposing representatives in the one-on-one debate are only those required to open their cameras. Hence, they need to wear something formal or modest." Ayon lang. "Last, Mr. Gallego?"
"May we know po who suggested the debate?" Shuta. Shuta! No!
Our teacher laughed. "You want to know?" And everyone responded yes. "Vice president ng section niyo."
