Maaga akong nagising, mas maaga pa kaysa kay Manang Solene. I washed my face and brushed my teeth before going down. Akala ko ako lang ang gising pero kahit alas-tres palang ng umaga, gising na si Heuzen, Heizen at Heizer.
Dito natulog ang dalawang kapatid ni Heuzen kaya hindi na ako magtataka na nandito sila pero ang nakakagulat ay gising na silang tatlo at nagtatawanan na sa living room.
They noticed me and greeted me. Nakasuot pa sila ng pajamas at naka-robe pa. Pang-couple pa ang design ng pajamas nila.
“Good morning, Lance na asawa ng Ate ko.” Bati sa akin ni Heizer Czech.
I awkwardly laugh and greeted him back. Heizen simply nodded his head as greeting. My wife, Heusen, tapped the space beside her, indicating me to sit beside her.
I bit my lower lip and sat beside her.
“Where’s your ring?” Tanong ni Heizen.
I felt my face heated up, I don’t have a ring! Jeez self, how can I marry her if I just gave her a fake ring?
Tumitig si Heizer at Heuzen sa akin, umiwas naman ako ng tingin. Oo na, sobrang loko-loko ko tapos nag-propose ako habang plastic ring lang ang mayroon ako.
“Oh,” I heard his disappointed voice, I guess he already saw the ring on Heuzen’s finger.
Nakakahiya naman. I already left a bad impressions on my wife’s brothers. But I can’t do anything, I don’t have money yet.
“What’s your work?” Tanong ni Heizen sa akin.
“W-wala.” Sagot ko at nahihiyang yumuko.
I just graduated and got married in an instant. Wala akong time para makapaghanap ng trabaho. Ayaw din kasi akong palabasin ni Heuzen, hindi ko naman alam kung bakit.
“You graduated in college?” Tanong ni Heizen sa akin.
“Yes, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, major in accounting and financial management.” Sagot ko.
I am quite proud because I graduated as magna cum laude. Maraming mga tao ang hindi nakaka-graduate kaya maipagmamalaki ko na nakapagtapos ako. Ako lang ang tumaguyod sa sarili ko.
“Hmm, if you don’t mind, I can hire you.” Sabi niya.
“Huh?”
“I owned a business empire, I can hire you but, you can’t skip the interview. You can only be hired if you’re worthy to be my worker.” Sabi ni Heizen.
I almost drop my jaw. He already owned a business empire? At his age? Sa tingin ko ay twenty-three palang siya. Mas matanda pa ako ng isang taon pero mas successful pa siya kaysa sa akin.
I felt really inferior when I’m with them. Mas mayaman pa sila kaysa sa mga kaibigan ko. Feeling ko tuloy hindi ko deserve si Heuzen na maging asawa.
“R-really? S-sure!” I agreed.
Ramdam ko ang tingin ni Heuzen sa akin kaya lumingon ako sa kaniya. Ngunit naputol ‘yon nang umupo si Heizer sa gitna namin.
“Since may asawa na ang Ate natin, dapat may pamangkin na kami! ‘Di ba kuya Czach?” Sabi ni Heizer at umakbay sa amin ni Heuzen.
Ilang taon na kaya sila? Ang ganda at ang gu-gwapo kasi, nahiya ako. Medyo nagtataka na rin kasi ako, ‘ate’ ang tawag nila kay Heuzen tapos kuya naman ang tawag ni Heizer kay Heizen. Samantalang ang sabi ni Heizer sa akin, kambal sila ni Heuzen.
“Sino ang panganay sa inyo?” Tanong ko sa kanila.
“Changing the topic huh?” Heizer teased me, I flushed but denied it.
“Who's the eldest?” I insist on asking, I don't want to be teased.
Sabay nilang tinuro si Heuzen. So, siya nga ang panganay kaya ‘ate’ ang tawag nila.
“Sumunod?” Tanong ko ulit.
Si Heizen naman ang tinuro nila, napatango ako. Kung gano’n, si Heizer ang bunso sa kanila. Mas mukha nga siyang bata kaysa kina Heizen at Heuzen.
“Ilang taon na kayo?” Tanong ko ulit.
Why do I feel that I am interviewing them? Nevermind. I just wanted to know more about my wife and my wife’s brothers.
“23.” Sagot ni Heizer.
Tumingin ako kay Heizen at gano’n din ang sagot niya. Huh? Kung pare-parehas silang twenty-three, ibig bang sabihin kambal silang tatlo? Triplets?!
I rounded my eyes in shock while staring at them. Heizer laughed at me, Heuzen chuckled while Heizen smirked like he find me funny, like a clown.
“Triplets kayo?!”
“Yes.” Si Heuzen ang sumagot.
“Wow.” I am amazed. I am not a woman but I salute to their mother who gave birth to a triplets. I know it’s hard to have three childs at once. But I am also thankful to their mother and father, they created such beautiful daughter, my wife.
I suddenly want to meet their mother, she's amazing. Me, who never have a family, crave for love and care from parents.
I got to know something about my wife. After the breakfast, Heizen took me to his company. Now, I am currently on the interview while Heizen went to his office. This suit I am wearing was from Heizen, he gave me this.
Hindi ko alam kung dahil ba sa suit na ito, kasi parang mas naging gwapo ako? Ang hangin.
“This is our last question.” Sabi ng babae, sa tingin ko siya ang manager, hiring manager.
I fixed myself and focused on her next question. I will be lying if I say that I am not nervous. Actually, this is nerve-wrecking! They asked me many questions and now, this is last.
“Why should we hire you?”
I bit my lower lip. It’s totally not my job to tell you why should you hire me. It’s your job to know why would you hire me. You already know my abilities so you know why would you hire me. I thought but I didn’t say it aloud, I answered her instead.
“Because you’re hiring people.” Sagot ko.
She stared at me like she’s going to eat me alive. I gulped and bowed my head.
“You’re fired!”
I looked at her with rounded eyes.
“You didn’t even hire me and now, you’re firing me?” I said.
I’m just telling the truth! She should I hire me first before she fire me. Kumalma naman siya at tumitig sa akin.
“You’re hired.” Sabi niya.
I smiled. “Thank you.”
Mabilis akong tumayo at tumakbo palabas para hindi niya ako masisante. I am slightly chuckling to myself because of what I did. If my wife or Heizen found out what I did, they’ll definitely kill me.
“Done?”
I looked at Heizen and nodded my head vigorously. Loko-loko lang talaga ako, pagpasensiyahan na.
“I’m going to work now.” Saad ko.
“Hmm. I won’t give you any special treatment just because you're my sister's husband. You should work hard.”
I just nodded my head. I know, I’m not special humph. Just kidding, I’ll start my work now.
