Amber’s POV

“Boss’s returning.”, The moment, these words came out of Ms. Potter’s mouth. I saw Lily’s eyes getting wide. I could tell that she didn't expect this or this was unexpected.
But she covered up her expression quickly and turned her head to look at me. “Come on. You need rest.”, She said. “And Ms. Potter, please send some snacks and juice to her room.”
“Sure.”

After changing my clothes and some snacks, I get into bed. During the whole time, I felt her eyes on me but I was grateful that she didn’t ask anything about the panic attack or say she was waiting for the right time to ask about it.
“Now…do you want to talk about what had happened earlier?”, She asked in a low tone in which I didn’t say a word. She stared at me for a while, waiting for me to open my mouth but I was not sure that I wanted to talk about my past. She sighed before speaking again, “I am not a fool, Amber and neither do the people around us. Today or tomorrow Zander will find out everything that happened today and trust me when he will, he won’t be…very happy.
“You will tell him?”, I asked in a weak tone.
“No”, She shook her head. “But this isn't something that has been seen just by me.”, She added. I couldn’t help but start thinking of the answers to the question that Alex could ask.
“By the way, I can’t think of hurting you. I mean, yeah I had said that I will hit you at that moment but I didn’t mean to hurt you intentionally. Not after knowing what you meant to my brother.”, She explained in a soft tone. “And I would suggest you learn self-defense. Earlier I wanted you to learn it with the thought that you might need it in the future but now I would suggest you learn it for yourself and to overcome your fear.”
I nodded my head meekly and saw her standing on her feet to leave the room
“Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you that he had called you when you were changing your clothes in the washroom.”, She said, before closing the door of my room. I quickly checked my mobile and found four missed calls from him and a few messages on WhatsApp.
I quickly checked the time of his missed calls. I was in between my training when he had called me. I felt bad for not being there when he wanted to talk with me. Then I opened his messages.
“Where’re you?”
“Why’re you not receiving my call? Are you okay?”
“Thank god. You’re all right. Ms. Potter informed me that you are training with Lily. I hope this was your decision, not HER. Call me when you’re back.”
I was about to call him when I received a new message from him.
“I’m deeply hurt that you didn’t bother to reply to me even after reading all my messages. :(”
My eyes widened when I read his new messages. I read ‘ONLINE’ under his name and realized that he was waiting for my reply. Truth be told, I was not well known for the technology. I had never used WhatsApp before, just had seen Samantha and others using it. But I did have a small phone that Alpha had given to me in case anyone had to order something when they weren’t home.
“I’m sorry for not replying to you sooner.”
“It’s okay. By the way, your typing speed is slow. Let me call you.”, I read his message which came a few seconds later. Soon, my phone started ringing, I swiped the screen to receive the call without wasting any time.
“Hello”
“I like it.”
“What?”, I asked, getting confused.
“That you’re equally desperate to talk with me.”, I blushed, hearing his words. “I wish I could see your blush.”, My eyes widened when I heard that.
‘Don’t tell me that he has installed CCTV cameras in the room!’
“How...How…”
“Because I know my would-be bride is a shy type.”
“Oh”, I sighed in relief when I heard his explanation.
“What did you think? That I have installed a CCTV camera in our room?”, He asked on which I opened my mouth to answer him but no words came out of it. “Well, for a moment, I find that idea quite tempting.”
“Why is that?”
“Because I will get a chance to see you getting undressed.”
“Alex!!”, I gasped when I heard him getting dirty.
“What!! I’m going to see you you getting undressed and naked anyway.”, He said calmly.
“Just shut up, Alex.!”, I scolded him and immediately the sound from the other side went silent. “Hello, you there?”
“Did you just scold me?”, He asked me in a serious tone.
“I…I…”
“Don’t be scared of me, Amber. You have the right to scold me, okay?”, He said in a calm tone and I felt embarrassed of myself for being so weak and cowardly that I was getting scared of my own mate. I didn’t dare to be with him or with anyone without getting scared. “Anyways, how was your training with Lily? Did she force you for the training?”
“The training was good and no, she didn’t force me for anything.”
“Really? Because I know my sister.”, He questioned back
“Trust me! She didn’t force me. She just made me realize how self-defense is important for boosting my confidence.”
“Hmmm”, I heard him and smiled in content with the thought that finally, I had convinced him with my lies.
“I came to know from Ms. Potter that you’re returning back!”
“Yeah! I’m returning back because I have found the culprit behind my father’s accident.”
“Oh, How’s your father now?”
“He’s in Coma right now but I’m sure he will be walking on his legs soon. After all, he’s a fighter.”, He answered or more like explained to himself.
“So, you're leaving him alone in that country?”
“No. He is getting transferred to the best hospital in our city.”
“Oh”, I muttered, not knowing what to say or ask next!
‘Should I ask him when he will be coming home? But then someone should stay with his father at the hospital.’
I heard the tapping sound of someone’s shoes from the other side of the call. “Okay, sweetheart. I will talk to you later.”
“Okay. Take care!”, I whispered before the call got disconnected. I stared at my phone for a while, hoping to receive his call or any of his messages from his end but I didn’t get any.
