The end of the school year is almost near. This is my last year in junior high. I wanna talk to my parents about transferring back to my old school. I only transferred here in Holy Heart because of my two cousins anyways.
I found new friends in here but I still miss my friends way back in Villazar National High School. My bestfriend is there too.
I am scribbling things at the back of my notebook while sitting at the bench here in the field.
I smile to myself when I saw Jon jon walking along the hallway with Maxine. Jon jon is my ex, we lasted for a couple of months. Even before it was pretty obvious that there is something going on between that bestfriend of his and him. I'm happy for them though.
Jon's friend are all kind. I remember Kath, is the first one to talk to me. Though I have a different circle of friends.
“Hi Ate May Ann”
I turned to Alexa who is walking up to me. I smiled and wave for a bit. She's France cousin and France is my friend, so I am a bit close with her.
“Hi” I greeted back.
“Why are you alone?” she asked.
“Well.....your cousin is spending her break time with her boyfriend.” I answered, slightly chuckling.
She chuckled.
“Sige ate, una na ako. May gagawin pa ako sa Com Lab”
I nod my head then smile at her.
Kinuha ko sa bag ang binili kong sandwich sa canteen kanina at sinimulan yung kainin. I did go back to what I am doing in my notebook.
“Anong ginagawa mo?”
I rolled my eyes as soon as I recognized his voice.
“What's your pake?” I said without looking at him.
All of Jon's friends are all kind except of him. He is the most annoying person I've ever known.
“What's your pake?” he mimicked.
I glared at him as he sat down beside me.
“Bat ba ang sungit mo ha?”
I didn't answer and just continue what I'm doing. I meet Ranzell because he's Jon jon's guy bestfriend. Even before he really is annoying. We always argue and fight about a lot of things.
“Siguro......” he said playfully.
I look at him and arc my brows.
“What?”
Nagulat ako ng bigla niyang ilapit ang mukha sa akin atsaka ngumisi.
“Crush mo ako noh?” he said while smirking.
My lips parted a bit, shock by his sudden movement. I pushed his face away and averted my gaze.
“S-stupid. Hindi kita susungitan if ever na crush nga kita”
He laughed at my reaction. The bell rang so I stood up and gather my things. He also stood up and waited for me to finish.
“What?” mataray na tanong ko.
“Sabay na tayo” nakangiting sabi niya atsaka kinuha sa akin ang clear book at isang libro na dala ko.
Wala na akong nagawa ng mauna na siyang maglakad sa akin. Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin atsaka ako sumunod sa kaniya.
When we are almost near our room, I forcefully took all my things from him. I walk faster as I made my way inside the classroom.
My day ended well. Our driver fetch me to school today. Sometimes I come home with Ryken or Xavier.
“Kuya Jude, is mom and dad at home?” I asked.
“Ah wala po Mam eh. Umuwi po kanina pero umalis din agad. Babalik po ata sa opisina.”
I bit my lip then nodded slowly. Of course, they are at work.
When we arrived at the house I am welcome by the silence just like always. I sigh as I made my way to my room.
I change my clothes and started doing my assignment. I was in the middle of doing my essay when my phone beep. It was from Ricca, my bestfriend.
Ricca,
        How are you love?
I smiled then type my reply. Ricca is always there for me. We know each other since we are in elementary so we are really close. She's a good friend. Even though I transferred school she's still there for me.
I place my phone back and continue doing my essay. It's already already six pm when I finished all my assignments.
I went down to the kitchen when I smelled Manang Lory's cooking.
“Nanay, what's for dinner?” I asked, smiling.
“Syempre yung paborito ng alaga ko” she said.
I chuckled and walk towards her. I inhaled the smell and smiled.
“Nanay, do you....know what time is Mom and Dad coming home?” I asked as I sit in one of the kitchen stool.
“Parating na yun” she answered smiling.
“Mamaya lang nandyan na sila”
Pilit akong ngumiti atsaka tumango. I helped her prepare the foods. We talked about things while cooking. I told her how my day went.
“What do you think Nanay?” I said.
I asked her to taste the kare-kare that I cooked.
She smiled and give me a thumbs up.
“Sarap, pwede nang mag asawa.” she said jokingly.
I pouted at her and continue cooking.
After an hour Nanay and I already finished preparing our dinner but still my parents aren't home.
I am patiently sitting on the sofa, waiting for them to come home. I looked at the time and it's already eight in the evening.
I immediately stood up when I heard my dad's car outside.
“Hi Dad, Mom” I said smiling.
I made my way to them to give them a hug.
“Hi, darling. Have you eaten?” Dad asked.
I shake my head.
“Not yet. I was waiting for the both of you.”
Dad smiled then nodded.
“Okay, let's eat.” he said then turn to Mom. “Allison-”
“I'm tired. Besides I'm not really hungry.” she said as she turn her back at us.
Nakagat ko ang labi at sinundan siya ng tingin. Tumingin ako kay Dad atsaka pilit na ngumiti.
“T-tayo na lang po?” tanong ko.
Dad smiled weakly at me.
“I'm sorry about your mom. She's just....tired.”
We both know she's really not.
“It's fine Dad. No worries.” I answered.
Dad and I ate dinner together. He asked about school so I told him that it's fine. He also asked about the date of our completion so he can clear out his schedule.
Nevertheless, the dinner ended peacefully. Dad and I were just both talking about how our day went.
The next day I come to school early. I decided to go to the library since our room is still lock. I sat down on the back.
I opened my music app in my phone and inserted my earphone.
I played the song Fly Tonight by Ylona Garcia. It is one of my favorites. The lyrics of the song are quite meaningful.
I closed my eyes and rest my back on the chair. A serene feeling embraces me as the music plays into my head.
I sing along with the song with my eyes close.
“But I'm anxious and envious of people who live like they'll die, tonight” pagsabay ko sa kanta. “I'm careless and restless and I wish I could just close my eyes, and fly...tonight”
When I opened my eyes, they were greeted with Ranzell's smiling ones. My lips parted when I saw him sitting in front of me and smiling like a crazy moron with his hands on his jaw.
Inalis ko ang earphones sa tenga atsaka umayos ng upo.
“W-what are you doing here?” I asked with my forehead creased.
“Ganda pala ng boses mo noh?” he said smiling.
I raised my brows.
“Well....”
“Sana ikaw rin” he said smirking.
Nakaamang akong tumingin sa kaniya. Hindi makapaniwalang sinabi niya iyon.
“Excuse me?” naiinis na sabi ko.
He laughed at my reaction. Mas lalong nangunot ang noo ko.
“You're so annoying” I said, completely annoyed by him.
“You're so annoyed” he said.
I closed my eyes then inhale a large amount of air to calm myself down.
Calm down, May. He's just annoying you because he doesn't have anything good to do in his life.
“Can you please leave me alone and never ever talk to me again?” nagtitimping sabi ko.
He looked at me with a amaze expression then shrugged his shoulder afterwards.
“Bukas na yung room natin. Tara na” he said as he grab my things and made his way out.
Kunot ang noo ko siyang sinundan ng tingin.
“Wait, Ranzell my bag” I said as I catch up to him.
“Ako na ang magdadala” he said then walk faster.
France and I were on our way to the canteen.
“Where's David?” I asked her.
David is her boyfriend.
“May inutos si Mam sa kaniya. Susunod na lang yun”
I nod at her as a response. My attention was caught as soon as we entered the canteen. Ranzell's table are very noisy. Syndy and his voice are the loudest. Ryken and Xavier are also sitting with them. They look like they are having so much fun.
I quickly averted my gaze when Ranzell look my way.
“Bili na tayo ng pagkain” sabi ko atsaka hinila si France.
I bought a bottle of C2 and one order of spaghetti. France also buy hers. We sat buy the table not so far away from the entrance.
We eat quietly. Later on, David arrived with Philip and Arvin so as Alexa and her two other friends. We shared table and started to talk about random stuffs. I noticed that Alexa keeps on looking in Ryken's way. She probably like my cousin so much, too bad he's too smitten with Kath. I can't blame him though, Kath is really is the standard.
“Celebrate naman tayo after nang completion...” France said.
“It depends” I said and shrugged my shoulders.
“Bakit naman?” she pouted.
“I might....celebrate it with my parents.” I answered.
I will tell them later the exact date because it was only announce this morning. Dad said he would clear out his schedule to come. We will probably eat out or something to celebrate.
I laughed when she playfully roll her eyes at me. She then turn to David.
“What about you Babe?”
They started talking and planning about it. Kinukulit nila ako at pinipilit na sumama. I didn't give them a sure answer, because I am not really sure yet if I can come.
I unintentionally glance into the canteen's door when I felt the stares. Tumaas ang kilay ko ng makitang nakatayo roon si Ranzell at nakangisi habang nakatingin sa akin.
I was caught off guard when he wink at me before turning his back and walking away.
What the hell was that? So annoying.
I stare at the canteen's door, dumbfounded by what happened. I only got back into my senses when France called me to ask about our lesson in English.
I am waiting for Xavier outside the gate. Sa kaniya ako sasabay pauwi. From here, I can see him talking more like arguing with Syndy. Naiiling na inalis ko ang paningin sa kanila. I'm sure Xavier is only trying to mess with her.
“Uuwi ka na?”
Gulat akong napatingin sa kabilang gilid ko. I saw Ranzell standing there with a big smile on his face. His two hands were on his pocket. My eyes quickly scanned his face. He has this moreno bad boy looking vibe. He has a piercing on his left ear.
Though his attitude doesn't fit to what he looks like. He's bubbly, loud, funny, and annoying.
“Titig na titig ah? Baka crush mo-”
“Shut up” asik ko atsaka nag iwas ng tingin.
A little embarras by the fact that I didn't notice that I am already staring at him.
“Ang sungit mo talaga...” natatawang sabi niya. “Pasalamat ka..”
I looked at him. Nanghahamon.
“Pasalamat ako what?”
Ngumisi siya atsaka bahagyang yumuko para magpantay ang mukha namin. Bahagya pa akong napaatras palayo dahil sa ginawa niya.
“W-what are you-”
Nanlaki ang mata ko ng bigla niya na lang pisilin ang magkabilang pisngi ko.
“Secret...” he said playfully.
I slapped his hand away. Annoyed. It hurts.
“You're such an annoying asshole” I shouted at his face.
He only laugh at my reaction and tried to reach my cheek again. I slapped his hand away for another time.
“Sige na. Uwi na ako.” he said.
“Who cares?” I said then roll my eyes at him.
“Bye Sungit” natatawang sabi niya atsaka kumaway.
I glared at him as he get into one of the tricycle.
“May Ann, let's go”
Nabaling ang tingin ko kay Xavier ng tawagin niya ako. I nod then walk towards him.
My forehead creased when I saw the look on his face. He look....annoyed.
“Are you okay?” I asked.
He sigh before nodding his head.
“Yeah. Get inside”
I nod my head then got inside his car. Excited to come home tell Mom and Dad about the upcoming completion of mine.
I took my phone out of my bag then texted Ricca. I will invite her over, though if the dates of our completion isn't the same.
