CHAPTER V: PREGNANCY AND WEDDING

I was awakened by the sound of metal scratching in a wood. My eyes were enthralled by the sunrise. I learned that she pushed the curtains sideways.
"You're finally awake. Tell me. Are you pregnant?"
I was stunned by her question. P-pregnant? Who? Because of confusion from the shocking confrontation, I remain silent with my mouth wide open.
"Answer me!" she shouted and I almost fell out of bed.
"N-no. Of course not." I stuttered.
"Dress up now and fix yourself." she ordered with her usual cold eyes.
"B-but where are we going?"
"Don't ask too many questions. Go downstairs when you're ready. I cooked breakfast." she addressed and walked away.
I averted my gaze through the glass window. The sunrise made me feel comfortable somehow. I saw a butterfly near the window, outside. Butterfly.
Wait! Did I really faint? Oh my gosh! What happened yesterday? So I was listening and Markian didn't let Uno finish and the band cutter into two factions. Markian's and Uno's parts.
"Why did they fight, though?" I murmured.
I got up and massaged my head. I can still feel my headache. I yawned and stretched my arms. I tapped my mouth and put on my eyeglasses.
-
"Where are we going, mommy?" I queried.
I was astounded as I saw the track we're going. We're going at Markian's house? But why?
"Mommy, why are we going to Markian's? Oh mom. Don't tell me you really thought I'm pregnant?" I begged beseeched.
"Then why would you pass it without any reason?!"
"That was just—that's because it's too hot there, mommy." I enunciated, trying to explain.
"Don't lie to me." she said and drove faster.
The deafening silence ate the moment. I sat silently without asking any further. I didn't try to explain either. She wouldn't believe me, so what's the point?
She's always like this. I never felt that she cares about me, really. She always scolds me without knowing my side.
I was snapped back to reality as my phone started ringing. I just let it there until my mom noticed, "Aren't you going to pick that up? It's irritating."
"H-hello? Who's this?" I quizzed as I answered the call.
"Didn't you miss me, Ale?"
"Uno? How did you know my number?!" I whispered.
I turned around a little to just text him.
Uno: Why did you end the call? I wanna hear your voice.
Me: Shut up, bastard. How did you know my number?!!
Uno: My brother-in-law gave it.
Brother-in-law who? My mouth went agape as I remembered I only have one brother. Yulo Franz Gavin, second strike!
"'you just alright?" my mother asked.
"Uh-oh, yes, mommy. I'm fine, haha." I feigned and laughed.
Me: What do you need from me?
Uno: Nothing. Just you.
W-what is this guy talking about? I felt my hand shaking and I felt my face heating up.
"We're already here. Hey!" my mother said.
I was shocked when I found her outside the car, knocking on my side. I immediately stood up straight, forgetting that I'm inside a car. I accidentally banged my head. I saw my mother shocked and then, came back to her cold usual self.
"Hi, Daughty. Are you with—" I immediately got out of the car as I felt my headache.
"Oh. I'm about to ask you." Aunt Gian stated.
She hugged my mother and kissed her on cheeks. She did that to me, as well. After that, she looked at my tummy. Am I bloated or this dress doesn't fit me? Please explain. T_T
"Let's go inside. Grandpop is already here."
-
"Good morning, grandpop, uncle, auntie and... Markian." I addressed shyly.
Ugh. What did my mother do?! This will surely cause a huge problem. I'm not pregnant. And now, they're all looking at my tummy.
What am I supposed to do? T_T
"Why don't you guys sit down? We shouldn't make the food wait." Uncle Ruzzel said and asked us to eat.
Markian pulled the chair for me, making sure that I'm safe. He's just making them see that I'm really pregnant. Why would he even do that?!
I was out of my mind the whole lunch. They were asking many questions but Markian answered them all for me. I was just a bit uncomfortable with the questions. I told them I'm not pregnant but they ended up saying "It's alright, don't be shy. We understand that you just love each other so much."
"So, Macky. Where do you want the venue to happen?" Uncle Ruzzel asked.
I was stiffened as I heard my name. I wasn't able to answer. "Oh, maybe you're too tired because of the pregnancy but I understand you." Aunt Gian coaxed.
What? I am not pregnant, for Pete's sake.
"Pregnancy really sucks until you realize that there's a life inside you. That you bear the child who symbolizes your husband's love for you." she added.
"Well, that's right." my mom agreed.
"But I'm not really pregnant!"
I thought I shouted it in my mind but I was surprised because of the sudden noise. They all looked at me. Obviously shocked. I covered my face with my hands.
Ugh. Mckenzie, why did you do that?!
"M-maybe that's her mood swing? I searched for it on the internet. Most of the pregnant women experience mood swings." Markian said.
"I'm really excited to have a grandson!" grandpop exclaimed.
"We should start planning for your wedding."
