PROLOGUE
“Gianna! Gianna!”
Nagising ako dahil sa boses ng aking ama. Nakakunot ang aking noo nang bigla na lang akong hilain ng patayo sa aking ama.
“Faster! Abigail!” kahit madilim ay naaninag ko ang aking ina na masama nang nakatingin sa 'kin na para bang galit siya.
“Why? Why? Why?” inis kong sabit na nagdadabog pa.
Kainis naman kasi! Gabi pa naman pero ba't minamadali nila ako.
“They found us,” nanlaki ang mata ko sa narinig ko mula kay ama.
“Dad, what do you mean?” kunyaring tanong ko kahit na ang totoo'y alam ko naman talaga kung sino ang tinutukoy niya.
“Abigail…” ani mom na may ibinigay sa 'kin.
Isa itong kuwentas na may malaking pendant. Sinuutan din ako ni dad ng makapal-kapal na coat. Dahil sa pagkalito ko'y ipinasok ko na lang ang ibinigay sa 'kin ni Mom sa aking bulsa.
“We're going to States today.” ani dad.
Hindi na lang ako sumagot at tinulungan na lang silang mag impake.
Dad was pertaining sa mga taong kakompetensya niya sa negosyo. My family was an investor of a secret organization and recently ko lang nalaman na may kinalaman pala ang organisasyon na iyon sa mga yakuza.
Nakasakay na kami ngayon sa kotse. Tahimik lang kaming tatlo sa loob. Iniisip ko na rin kung bakit biglaan ang mga pangyayariing ito.
“Mom, Dad. May kinalaman po ba 'to sa sekreto nila?” mabilis na lumingon sa 'kin si mom na nasa unahan. Sa likod kasi ako umupo e.
“P-paano mo nalaman ang—”
*bogshhh!!*
Mabilis ang mga pangyayari. Nalaman ko na lang na nakahandusay na ako sa malamig na kalsada. Isang malaking truck ang tumama sa aming sasakyan na nagdulot ng pagtilapon namin.
Kahit na nanghihina ay pilit ko pa ring binubuksan ang aking mga mata. Naaninag ko ang mga armadong lalake. Nakaluhod doon sina mom at dad habang duguan.
Hindi ko masiyadong mamukhaan ang mga armadong tao dahil sa sakit na nararamdaman ko sa buong katawan.
“M-mom!” I tried to voice out pero tila hindi ko mai-boses ang aking dapat na sasabihin.
Nanlaki ang mata ko nang makitang walang awa nilang binaril si mom at dad. Malabo man ay alam kong tama ang aking nakikita.
Hindi ako makagalaw. Kahit na gustuhin ko'y ayaw talagang kumilos ng katawan ko. Gusto ko silang iligtas! Gusto ko silang tulungan.
“Such a young woman. Kung sana hindi ka lang naging anak nila. Bye-bye!”
Iyan ang huli kong narinig sa taong lumapit sa 'kin pero hindi ko man lang maaninag ang kaniyang mukha bago ako makarinig ng putok ng baril.
