some minutes later they arrived at their mansion
Zoey was so happy that Layla was coming to stay with them but she was also sad her parents her dead cos she was imagining her parent should be dead how would she feel but there was nothing she could do
as they entered the mansion the maid came out to welcome them but upon seeing Layla she felt bad for her and helped her inside
Layla hate the way they pitied her and look at her like an orphan but she remembered she is now an orphan
are uncle made her an orphan
but there was nothing she could do to stop them from looking at her that way
she doesn’t want her uncle or his wife to be suspicious of her
so she has to lay low and find their secret and weakness
“Layla what do you feel like eating? asked then maid
you can give me anything I can’t really say this what I want to eat
Layla you know you are a good girl huh your uncle and his family love you so dearly so ( Layla cut her off before she could finish her sentence)
don’t tell me they love me
am sick of hearing that
I hate y’all stop pretending Layla shouted irritated bu what the maid said
everyone heard what she said clearly
when she realized what she has done she then explained to them with a pitiful face
“ am sorry for what I said I don’t hate any of you l, I love y’all but I just feel my parent shouldn’t have died this early it makes me sad “
she explained with a gentle face but what she said was opposite of what she feels and what was in her mind
her uncle and his wife understand and told her they would be there for her
they would stand as her parent and treat her like her real parent
they don’t expect Layla to know Twas them, so why will she hate them, it made them believe what she said and whereas they see her as a kid who doesn’t know anything
Layla was frustrated,she knows the maid has nothing to do with what they have done but she was angry at everyone
she doesn’t want to trust anyone cos the person she didn’t expect to do such thing showed her she shouldn’t trust anyone
The maid was shocked when she heard what Layla said but but after she explained to her that it wasn’t intentional she stood up and went into the kitchen to prepare food for her
minutes later she brought yam and egg for her
she knows layla loves you yam and egg so she decided to cook it for her but as for layla she has no interest in anything
she doesn’t see it as her best food again but she has to eat to be able to survive
zoey watched her eat and waited for her so she can take her to her room to play
even thou layla was not interested in playing with anyone she thought she just have to do whatever she was told to do so they won’t suspect her of anything
after she was done eating she followed her cousin to her room and was presented with different kind of doll to play with
but she looked at zoey with am angry face and throw away the doll
“ zoey I don’t want doll,can your parent bring back my family to life tell me, why are you giving me doll,don’t pretend you love me okay leave me alone”
zoey was confused to what she was saying,she doesn’t understand so she started crying Cos she doesn’t mean anything bad by giving her doll
“ I just want you to be happy layla, you are now my twin sister, I don’t want you to be alone and I thought we are friends why are tou acting like this”
Layla was taken aback by what she said but she was at the same time frustrated,she is just a seven years old girl
she doesn’t know how to control her feelings she is now living in a world she has to be careful of everyone and she has to revenge her parents death
but she doesn’t know anything of how to live
she has been living with her parent all her years but now she is alone
she doesn’t know what to really do
but there is some soft place in her inner self so she pitied her cousin and decided to console her
“ zoey it’s not that I don’t love you but am scared you won’t kill me later In the future
will you be promise me that you won’t betray me and you won’t let your parent know about our discussion”
“ what do you mean I will kill you, I can never kill you , you are my twin sister now,why would I kill you, I promise I will never do so, do you still love me and do you accept me as your twin sister”
“ hmm yes I accept you as my twin sister since yoi won’t kill me in the future and you won’t betray me”
they entwined their fingers as a sign of their promise
