Chapter 24 That Disease, Really Hit Me

All I remember is opening the eyes. Let the blinding light slowly enter the eyes. A room with a predominance of white. Not yet fully aware, the brain tries to process all the incoming information. It doesn't feel weird but it doesn't feel normal either. It just feels empty. A room with empty furniture. The head that can't think about anything. Nothing pops into the head.
And finally realized, everything was forgotten. No memory of anything that crossed why it was in that place. Or even no one knows what this place is. Not even a single thought crossed his head. Until he realized he didn't know himself.
The man stood on his two feet. Walk towards the door. He didn't know if the door was locked or not, he just kept walking. Trying to get out of the unknown. Dan hopes to go out to a familiar place or even meet someone who can help explain the situation.
None of his hands or feet were tied and the door he easily opened suggested he might not have been a kidnapping. A strange place with foreign equipment, it didn't look like a room, not even a hospital room even though he looked at the monitor beside his bed and the IV tube on the other.
Was he sick or had an accident and got amnesia. But he did not find the slightest wound on his body. Not on his feet, hands, or head. His feet hesitantly stepped out of the room.
It was not difficult for him to find someone else in the place, because when he opened the door he had already met someone else. And even that person approached him with a big smile.
“Good Morning!” The man stood up and walked over to him. "This is our first time meeting after you wake up. My name is Irung! Just call me Irung. You don't have to call me Doctor or anything. You can get this white coat if you want.” The person named Irung spoke without pause, showing the white coat he was wearing.
“You will only confuse him, Irung. He just woke up." another person came from the other side of the room in the same attire, in a white coat.
"He's Tieden." Irung ignored the words of the man he called Tieden. He pointed at Tieden and smiled.
"You ignored me." Tieden looks resigned but he didn’t really mind it. "Call me Tieden." he smiled and walked closer.
“Tieden is right, Irung.” this time it was someone in the same outfit but wearing socks of a different color while eating the candy in his mouth. "You can't just give him a white coat." he walked closer, then put his arm around Tieden's shoulder even though Tieden was taller than him.
"Niem, that's not what I meant." Tieden smiled but sighing at the same time.
"You are okay? Don't need a blanket? Or fan? Or bandages?” Niem bombarded questions that his interlocutor didn't understand anything.
“Niem, that's just what I meant. He just woke up but you guys immediately gave him a lot of information and questions.” Tieden seemed to be used to being ignored by the other two.
These three people looked foreign and their names sounded foreign to his ears.
"Um.. sorry," trying to get the attention of the three strangers in front of him. "Can I ask you something?" he asked hesitantly, afraid he'd said the wrong thing. Don't know if these three people are dangerous or not.
"Of course! We will answer all of them.” Irung looked excited, "You don't remember anything, do you?" she smiled. Niem opened the paper in his hand and prepared to write.
Irung and Niem smiled. Tieden gave the same expression, smiled and didn't look intimidating in the slightest. Feeling more comfortable and it didn't seem like they were bad people, he tried to ask.
"Where is this?" his voice trembled with fear, but the short question came out of his mouth. Irung grabbed the arm of the man who asked the question and brought it close to his eyes, watching with seriousness. Never know what was he looking for.
Irung made an OK sign with his hand towards Niem, then Niem wrote something on the paper in his hand. “This place is a secret. Not anywhere." replied Irung.
"Who am I?" the second question. This time Irung stroked the man's arm who asked with a serious face then again signaled Niem and Niem would nod and write something on the paper. The man who asked the question looked confused and resigned at the same time.
“Pifu, your name is.” replied Irung. This time Irung patted the man's hand. "It doesn't hurt, does it?" Irung asked while looking at the man named Pifu.
Pifu shook his head slightly. "You just pat it a little, it doesn't hurt at all. I don't even feel anything." he answered.
“You answered the question while doing the check, can't you finish one first? And how can you surrender without asking what these two did to you.” Tieden, who had been silent for a while, started to feel annoyed, "Never mind, just continue." And he gave up too.
“I-actually I'm also confused, what were you two doing earlier?” Pifu's voice trembled.
"Just a small check." Irung released of Pifu's hand. "We need further check to see the side effects." Irung pointed towards the door of another room.
This time Pifu did not give up he stopped Irung who tried to bring him into that room.
"I still do not understand." Pifu turned his face away, doesn’t want to see Irung's expression which he feared might be angry. “…what checks did you do. And who is Pifu, I feel unfamiliar with that name. And you didn't really answer my question about where this place is, and-” finally Pifu let out everything in his head and accidentally lifted his face, looked Irung right in the eye.
But Irung didn't look angry, he realized, "We're too excited because you look fine." he smiled. Pifu was relieved, he thought he would be scolded for asking so many questions instead of directly obeying them.
“You two calm down and take it easy.” Tieden made Pifu and Irung to sit down. Irung, Pifu, and Niem sat side by side. Pifu was between them.
Irung was still smiling while swinging his legs back and forth with both hands in the pockets of his white coat, sitting pretty ready to listen to Tieden who is sitting across from the three of them. While Niem was looking sullen with his cheeks still filled with candy, he wanted to immediately do further checks on Pifu but Tieden asked him to sit quietly. Niem crossed his hands in front of his chest in annoyance.
"You don't remember about your past, do you? You even forgot your name. The others do too, that’s normal. So you just need to remember your name is Pifu, that's all.” Tieden started the conversation. Pifu looked at Tieden. Everything doesn’t look normal for Pifu.
"The others?" Pifu looks confused.
“There are others too.” Tieden nodded. “Anya, Taringa, and Rurimi. They're in another room." Tieden looked towards the other doors. Pifu's eyes followed Tieden's gaze.
“And about this place, that’s a secret. We can’t answer that question. And you, Irung, also can’t answer that question.” Tieden smiled at Irung. Irung nodded quickly.
“ We're not getting out of here. You don't remember anything so you have no purpose out there. In here, we will take care of you and give you proper food and shelter, and also treat you." Tieden continued.
Pifu looked uncomfortable at the part where he couldn't get out of the there, but he didn't dare to ask further about it. Tieden did smile, but this time it felt different and moreover he was surrounded by these people on his right and left, no escape.
"Treat me?" asked Pifu confused “Treat me from what? Is there any disease in me?”.
This conversation was getting quite serious, but the two people beside Pifu were distracting from Tieden. Irung touched Pifu's hand with his finger, then pinched Pifu's cheek. At first, Niem looked sulky, but now he doesn't and instead joins in like Irung did. Pifu looked fine, didn’t bother a little bit. Pifu looks like didn’t noticed the behavior of the two beside him.
"Can you two stop doing it." Tieden looks resigned. At least these two people didn't make a sound or speak to annoy Pifu.
"What?," Pifu looked more confused.
“Isn’t this two bothering you?” Tieden also looks confused. “Irung and Niem like playing with you, they poke your hands and cheeks.” Tieden resigned, he can’t focus at all. “But why I should explain it? Don’t you feel it?” Tieden realized that was weird.
Pifu still looked confused, he looked at Irung and Niem beside him. Because seeing Irung and Niem didn't seem to intend to stop. “It's okay Mister Tieden. Let's just move on. After all, what the two of them did, didn't feel at all." Pifu more curious about the disease that might be in him.
“That’s not okay, Pifu.” Tieden said.
Suddenly Irung stopped pressing Pifu's cheek, he looked at Pifu as if he was surprised to realize something. Then Irung swung his arms wide and slapped Pifu's cheeks, made a very loud slap sound.
Tieden was taken aback by Irung's behavior.
“Irung! What are you doing?! What if his body scattered!" Niem spontaneously stood up and couldn't believe what Irung had done to Pifu. "Why did you-" he stopped.
"Oh, what's that sound?" Pifu looks confused. “Master Tieden? What is it?" he looked confused at Tieden's surprised expression. Pifu looked at Niem who suddenly stood up and shouted.
Niem, Tieden, and Pifu looked at each other in confusion. While Irung smiled.
“That's the sound of slap, Pifu. I just slapped you." said Irung, smiling at Pifu. Pifu looked at Irung confused.
“What do you mean?” Pifu looks fine.
“You didn’t feel anything. But my hands, that’s really hurt me.” Irung hold his hands in pain. His hand turned red. “Pifu, because of your skin-” Irung’s word stopped by Niem.
“Don’t you dare to blame Pifu.” Niem looked at Irung with flat gaze. “You are the one that hit him.”
