I waited for about fifteen minutes before she came down. She was putting on a black jeans and a grey sweatshirt coupled with a pair of vans.
She already removed her hair from the bun it was, she already straightened it and it was obvious she was on makeup.
With make up or without makeup she was pretty either way.
"You ready?" I asked her as I stood up from the couch. My eyes scanning her appearance.
"Yh." She visibly gulped, nodding her head. She picked up her black purse, probably in case of money.
"You know I am paying right? You don't need your purse."
She shrugged as she turned off the TV and we made our way outside.
I decided on having pizza, since we were both not dressed elegantly for a exquisite diner.
I opened the door for her and she mumbled a 'thank you'
"What are we having?" She asked me as she strapped in her seat belt.
I started the engine after strapping myself in too "Pizza?" It was more of a question.
"I know the best pizza place." She looked at me with eagerness in her eyes.
"Okay, you give directions while I drive." I said and zoomed off.
In no time we were standing at the front of 'pizza palace' . It looked modern enough. We got down from the car and Janet led the way inside.
It looks like she was a regular customer cause immediately she entered she was greeted by an old woman who I suppose is the owner of this place.
The place was almost empty, only few people were present. "What would you like to order?" A young girl about the age of seventeen asked grinning.
I looked at Janet, giving her a sign to order. "We will both have the normal." She grinned at the young girl.
The girl left after writing our order inside her note. Janet cleared her throat and then looked straight at me. It was obvious she wanted to ask a question.
"Ask whatever you want to ask." I sighed as I relaxed in my seat.
"Hmmn?"
"Ask away."
" I know this is not about you wanting me to forgive you, cause you're a selfish jerk -"
"I never knew you were this short tempered Janet." I smiled a little.
"Well, I am, with people I do not like."
"Fair enough." I nodded my head.
"As I was saying," she cleared her throat and then continued, "I know you are a selfish jerk so what is this dinner stuff all about?"
"I am using it to apologize cause of the way I treated you."
The girl who took our order was the one who served us. It was a medium sized chicken pizza.
"Thank you."
"Thank you."
"Anything else?" She asked
"No. I am fine." Janet answered and she turned to me making me shake my head in return.
"You expect me to believe you?" She asked as she took a bite from the slice of Pizza she took from the box.
"I mean," I shrugged, "yes, why not?"
She gave me a straight face, "I don't." She took another bite. "Eat."
I chuckled and then picked a slice of pizza from the box.
"I need your help." I said as I took a bite from the pizza.
"I knew it." She smirked as she took another slice from the box.
I took a huge bite from the slice I was holding and surprisingly it tasted good. I have never eaten one of these.
"It is my dad. He wants me to get a wife," I paused guaging her reaction "and a child." With that she burst into laughter almost choking on what she was eating.
"I am sorry, I am sorry," she cleared her throat, "it is just, you? A wife and a child? Yh no." she chuckled again and continued eating her pizza.
"You think I am joking?" I asked as I took another slice from the box.
"Then tell him you are not ready." She shrugged.
"Iti s not that simple. If I do not provide a wife and a child for him within a year, he will disown me and withdraw me from my post."
"Wow. So why are you telling me this?"
"I already said it. I need your help."
"How am I going to help you." She chuckled, "be your wife?" She looked at me straight in the eye and when she saw I was not laughing with her she knew I was serious.
"You are joking right?"
"I wish I was, trust me."
I just lost my appetite.
