" Mira dear, it's late, you should come down for dinner. " Joseph's nanny who was also like a mother to me, urged me when I awoke later on.
" Alright, Nanny Jenny I'll go down. " I told her.
" Okay... Don't be late, Kay? " She said giving me that warm smile of her's.
" I won't. " I said smiling back.
After she left, a stalled for about ten minutes arranging my thoughts before finally going downstairs for dinner.
As expected, when I got to the dinner table, Joseph was already there, he was simply eating slowly.
" Oh, you here! Have your seat, Mira. " Nanny Jenny said enthusiastically.
I did as I was told and then, Nanny served me my food which was a simple, Spaghetti salad and chicken. Then, she filled the glass in front of me with orange juice.
" Thanks, nanny Jenny. " I Smiled.
" You welcome. Enjoy your meal. "
" Hm... " I began eating rather slowly as I occasionally threw glances at Joseph, but he completely ignored me.
He was acting so cold that I felt that even strangers wouldn't be as cold to each other as he is to me.
And this completely broke my heart, I really don't want to lose my best friend like this.
I wish there was a way I could get him back, anyway would be appreciated as long as I got back my best friend.
Despite the fact that I didn't have much of an appetite, I still managed to finish the whole plate of food in front In front of me and then, downed the fruit juice in two gulps.
After that, I Muttered my thanks once again to Nanny Jenny before heading back to the guest room..
Only when I got to the room did I remember that I wasn't with my cellphone, I had actually left it at my room in the orphanage and forgot to take it along earlier.
Either ways, I was thankful that I didn't bring take it along as I might have lost it if I did.
Realizing this, I was worried, I knew I should call to Inform the mother ( head of the orphanage ) that I wouldn't come back tonight.
But well, my phone is not with me so how could I possibly make the call then?
Then I remembered that Nanny Jenny has the number of the mother stored on her phone so I immediately left the room and went to Nanny Jenny's.
I knocked on the door twice before I got a reply.
" Come in. " I pushed open the door and walked in.
There, Nanny Jenny was in her night dress, she was preparing to sleep actually so it seemed like I had just disturbed her.
" I am really sorry for coming here at this hour, Nancy Jenny. "
" It's alright. You can have your seat. " She said pointing to the chair closest to the bed.
I nodded before going to seat there, " So I was wondering if you could lend me your cellphone so I could call mother Theresa and inform her that I won't be come back tonight. "
" Oh... You should have informed me about that earlier. I would have told her myself. " She said.
" You don't have to worry, I guess I should be able to do this. " I told her.
" Okay... " She took her phone from beside her and handed it over to me.
" Thanks, Nanny. " I said with a smile.
" You welcome. "
Then, I made the call in front of her.
When I was done, I handed the phone back to her. " I really appreciate your help, Nanny Jenny. I don't know what I would have done without you... " I said sincerely.
" It's alright. "
" Hm... I should be leaving now, nanny so you can have your sleep. " I said standing up.
" Why the rush? I am feeling that sleepy yet. Infact I have been meaning to ask you about something. " She said.
I sat back down, " What do you want to ask me about, nanny? "
" Well... I noticed that you and Joseph aren't as close as you were before, did anything happen between you two? " She inquired rather curiously.
" It's really nothing, serious nanny." I denied.
" You do know that you can't hide much from me, right? "
" I know, Nanny... But... "
" I understand your struggles but you can talk to me you know? You do know that You and Joseph are just like my own children and as a mother I wouldn't want my children to be drifted apart. " She said a little emotionally.
" It's alright... Nanny. We had a light misunderstanding which lead to this. "
" I don't think this can be called little in any way as you guys practically don't talk to each other. What went wrong exactly? " She said and I could only sigh.
" Actually, we were both framed and since I was the most closest to him, I was blamed for it all... " I said.
" Oh... You know, When Joseph told me about the whole situation, he didn't even mention you. Apparently he wasn't placing the blame on anyone. "
" Really? " I said completely shocked.
" Yeah... He only said that he was being suspended for his irresponsibility. "
" Oh my! I can't believe this! " I Exclaimed.
" But it's the truth. So I think what you both need right now is an heart to heart talk. "
" I don't think that will be possible since Joseph practically ignores my existence. "
" It might look that way but Is this really the truth? Despite all of this I know he still cares about you. Just earlier, I got to Witness just how much he does. You know, he only began eating when you came closer. "
" Really, Nanny? "
" Yes... So you guys really need to talk it out before this small conflict leads to crisis. "
" I'll try. "
" Am sure you will. "
" Hm... So I should get going now. " I stood up.
" Yeah... Goodnight, Mira. "
" Hm... Goodnight to you too, Nanny. " I Smiled back.
The moment I left the room, I sighed a little as I began processing Nanny's words.
Indeed, she was right, Joseph and I really need to talk this out before it gets worse and our relationship becomes irrecoverable.
I began walking to my room but as I wasn't looking where I was going, I stumbled a little and almost fell but just before I could.
I felt strong arms being wrapped around me from behind preventing me from falling.
I looked up and my eyes met that of Joseph's which was as deep and unfathomable as the sea.
At that moment, it felt as if tone stopped as we just continued staring deeply info each other's eyes before at last, Joseph averted his gaze and balanced me.
He was about walking away towards his room when I called out to him, " Just a moment, Jose! " I said but seeing him not showing any intention of stopping, " Please... " I added and he paused his steps finally before turning to me.
" So? " He asked indifferently.
" Well, I think we need to talk about all that happened. " I said.
" Is there a need to? " He asked coldly.
" There is. Please, Jose. " I pleaded and finally he relented, " You've got Five minutes to explain yourself. "
" Okay... " I replied.
He began walking ahead to his room again and I immediately followed after him.
