Fast-Forward [Present Time]
“I get it. I now completely understand what happened that day. That is why, Calli looked unhappy when I tried to talk to her the other day. She wasn't so attentive to what I am saying. She's dismissal of me, Ajax. She doesn't looked like she wanted to see me.” Sigrid looked sad when she talked about her friend's treatment of her.
“I couldn't help but to be affected by Calli's obvious emotions, Ajax. When I asked her about her opinion to my designs, she intentionally disregard my drawings and directly told me that it's not attractive. She was always interested with the layouts of my designs and sketches. And always telling me that all of them were amazing. But-when it happened. It made me wonder why she acted differently...”
Ajax patted her friends back and pull her for a hug. He doesn't like what is happening between the two girls right now, and he wants it to stop.
While hugging Sigrid to calm her down, Ajax took the opportunity to asked his best friend a serious question that he's been wanting to ask to her.
“Sigrid, do you still like Alcuin?”
He felt Sigrid's body stiffened from his question. And that is already a noticeable effect that in connection to her answer to his question.
“You still like him. You still like your best friend, Azaiah.” Ajax said these words in a firm way.
Sigrid loosen her hug and move away from Hyle. And turned her back to looked at the window.
“I am done with my feelings for him, Ajax. What I felt for him back then, I finally let go of every bits of it. I don't want to go back through all of it, Ajax. I know you are aware of what I have endured because I fell in love with the person that I didn't want myself to fall for. Alcuin is a poison, that I wouldn't desire taking.” There is seriousness in Sigrid's voice. As if there's enough hurt she experienced, and she finally learned a lesson. A lesson that she wouldn't want to see herself repeating it all over again.
“I was so young back then, so naive. There's so many expectations I have set upon myself, with the people around me. But-all I ever received was a lot of disappointments, especially when it comes to my expectations for Alcuin.”
“I know, I know Sigrid. And I understand your reasons. So, what's your plan now? He's planning to go after you, I mean he was into you in the first place.”
“What do you mean by what you just said, Ajax? He liked me? No! No, it is not possible.” Sigrid shooked her head. Not wanting to accept what she heard from her friend.
“Was that one of his humorous jokes that wasn't even funny? That is ridiculous.” A laughter full of sarcasm is heard in the room. Followed by another shaking of Sigrid's head and an eye roll.
“Don't try so hard to laugh it off, Azaiah. Your attempt to pretend that it doesn't affect you is unsuccessful. Your face says it all, Azaiah.”
Azaiah look at her friend and smiled at him. Then went towards him again to give him a hug which Hyle accepted anyway.
“You know me too well, Ajax. Is there something that you don't know about me? I feel bared.” She laughed teasingly.
Sigrid can feel Ajax's hugged tightened and his other hand encircled her waist. And that shocked her.
“You're right. I know you well more than anyone else. And there's nothing that you can hide from, Azaiah. Nothing...”
“Phew. That's kinda frightens me, Ajax. But-you are right. Aside from my mother, your the second person who knew a lot about me. I almost feel that you knew me more than I know myself. I know-it sounds funny, but that's what I am thinking.”
Ajax released her from his embrace and hold both of her shoulders. And observed her intently. Sigrid saw a lot of emotions on Ajax's gaze. Yearning? Fondness. She ignored her thought. Ajax is gay. And she thought that her friend is incapable of loving a woman. She knew that if she ask her friend is he is willing to try having a relationship with a female, he will show her a sudden disgusted facial gesture. It just don't make sense. Ajax dating a girl. That is so so grotesques. She claughted at her thoughts. Oh-wait, she notice Ajax's gaze darkened. And that made her shivered.
“You just laughed. It means you're thinking about something? Well-I'm glad you finally laughed.” From a serious look Ajax is now back to his tender facial expression.
“Well, it is all because of you. And so, thank you.”
“You're welcome. Gosh, I am so fabulous. An undoubtedly amazing individual.” Ajax flip his fine black hair.
That's good. I am relieved that my best friend is back to his usual self. But to be fair, her best friend is not lacking of amazing features. He is more good-looking compared to the usual guys around her area. Well-dressed, considerable stylish. He has muscles in the right area. And he smells good. His perfume can be smelled incredibly through her nose. She loves his scent. To the point where someone tells her to stay in her best friend's embrace for a whole day, she would gladly obliged to follow the command. If only her best friend is straight, she will date him for real. She knows she is safe with Hyle. And she trust him so much. Her best friend's caring and loving character is a turn on for her. Hyle is even better than the guys she was romantically involved with it. It such a waste that her best friend is a womanish man. Well-she should at least be grateful that she has the chance to be with him. That opportunity is more than enough for Sigrid.
“What are you thinking, huh?” Ajax walked towards her to reach out for her hand, intertwined their hands together. Sigrid looked pleased with the corners of her mouth turned up into a grin.
“Our fingers are appropriately fitted.”
“You've only realized that as of now? Tsk, tsk. I already knew our hands are suitable for each other since then, Sigrid. You're breaking my heart, baby.”
“Oh c'mon. Don't play with me, Ajax. You're teasing me again, babe. Stop your playful pranks please. I might fall.” she jokingly teased him
“You can fall for me, Azaiah. You can fall anytime. I am willing to catch you.”
Ajax spoke in a confidential tone of voice. He was cautious to not let Sigrid hear any single word. Sigrid saw Ajax's mouth muttered something but the words were inaudible. She wanted to hear what he said, she's curious. Sigrid Azaiah is always been inquisitive when it comes to her best friend, which is Ajax Galen Sullivan.
