Chapter 4: Stayed

Esmeralda's Point Of View
Slowly opening my eyes, the sight that greeted me caused my body to unconsciously step back, and my hands to cover my mouth. My brother's fisted hand that was about to punch me is now trying hard to free his neck while his other hand is reaching to punch the man's face who is currently lifting my brother single handedly.
'Is this man a human?!'
His features are all sharp and hostile but placid. Making him look like a sly criminal but the high-class one.
My brother is making words I can't understand, "Krkk- keark- kkr rrkk." As he hardly catches air.
I am starting to panic because he is already turning blue yet the man seems to have no intention of letting him go.
Warily approaching him, "Si-sir, can you please let him go?" I requested. Constantly switching my gaze from my brother then to him.
Yet instead of just following my words, he slowly turned his head to me. It was very controlled like he is some kind of robot which is increasing my impulse to run away.
Luckily, he did let go of him, but so indifferently as if a man's life didn't depend on his hands. Even his impenetrable dark blue eyes are still in focus to me. Yet his tightly pressed mouth was never opened.
'I wonder how he can breathe properly with that?'
I was planning to check my brother's condition but when I shifted my eyes to his side, he wasn't there anymore. And I can't see where he went because of the people watching us silently but with widened eyes. They must've felt my astonishment from this man's inhumane strength.
'I just hope my brother is fine.'
"Thank you, sir." I politely expressed as I lowered my head. There's nothing to lose if you lower your pride in people.
However, blinking impassively, he didn't even bother to acknowledge my gratitude. He merely turned his back on me and started walking away.
'What just happened?!'
Grabbing my blazer, I instantly arranged my dress and was about to follow the man, yet an old well-dressed man just like him approached me. "Ma'am please understand that my master merely meant to help. He is just not used to talking back with strangers to him so he didn't respond to you. But he holds a great heart in him so I hope you take it positively." He apologised while lowering his head.
My eyebrows raised to his 'unexpected explanation'. So he is some kind of a master? But I don't care, I still don't think he needs to ignore my gratitude and humiliate me like that in my building. But suddenly, I don't even know who these men are.
"May I know who you are, sir?"
"We.." He lifted his head and looked through me. "are the ones who reserved your lodge ma'am." He finished with a little spark of amusement in his eyes.
My entire body reacted on its own and froze from the information.
'A-are you telling me that the man who helped me was the one we were just fighting about?'
Calming my marching heartbeats for some time, I wandered my eyes and that's when I realised that many of our guests were watching. I didn't wait to waste any more time and draw near the most crowded part.
"My sincere apology for this commotion to all of you today, I promise this will never happen again. Thank you." I bowed as I wholeheartedly spoke.
Afterward, I followed where the man went, to the second floor. I must be the one to fix this.
After turning my head here and there, I finally saw where they chose to rest. I dashed towards them and faced their sitting 'master,' with a serious expression. Hoping that his apathetic face, as if he is bored with life, could at least see how significant our topic was and spare some of his little time for me.
"May I speak to you, sir? " I inquired with a polite tone. A little part of me wants to persuade them to stay but my fear is more dominating. Causing me to hope for them to just go find another place.
Though as if no one's in front of him, the man merely turned his face to his standing allies beside him. I followed his action and I could see the other one was observing with a frightened look but the old man was still at ease.
'What is wrong with these people? Are they in some kind of manifestation?'
Smiling humbly, "We are in all ears ma'am," the old man responded.
Realising the situation, I covered my mouth as I gasped. 'So this man is mute? Now that explains everything.'
Slowly removing my hand, I nod in acknowledgment to the old man.
"I am Esmeralda Myint, the manager of this lodge and I believe you have paid twice to rent this whole place? My sincerest apology sir, but there has been a misunderstanding about it's approval. This place does not accept such requests. I understand if you wish to find another place. We can have recommendations if you are quite unacquainted in this country. And as for the money, we will immediately return it. " I straightly stated as I focused my eyes to the man's knees, I couldn't stand his unexplainable eyes.
'I didn't know a foreigner could be this demanding. I suppose dad forgot to tell me about this huh?'
Peeking through my eyelashes to watch the man's every move, his slight nod to the old man didn't escape my eyes. I inwardly jumped but stayed quiet to see if my assumption was right.
The old man returned his amused gaze to me. "Ma'am then we will just have two rooms here." He responded.
A wide smile crept into my face as I straightened my posture. "We thank you for choosing us, sirs. We will strive to do our best for your pleasure's fulfilment." I stated as I expressed my appreciation.
'Best choice, I promise you will give us five stars before you leave.' I can't stop my smirk as I thought of this. Something my father always murmurs everytime we are alone after he finishes his talk with our guests. And now I suppose I inherited that.
How unlucky that my inwardly celebration was interrupted when my mind suddenly flashed my brother's face. Looking back at the sitting man who is still watching me, I eased my worries and added. "I also thank you sir for helping me."
Without waiting for his presumably nod response, I bowed then walked with a very fast pace. I don't know what his opinions are to my competency as the manager but I'm hoping they are not that biassed by what he saw earlier. This lodge's reputation will be stained if he comments badly on my character as a manager.
