Chapter 7 Engage with me

Jacob pushed her to the bed, positioned on top of her, as he cupped her face and looked straight right at her eyes, raging in displeasure of what she just said a while ago.
"How much do you know?"
He is mad, feeling like he had been humiliated by the thought that this woman might have known something more than just information. He was thinking that she might have installed camera on his room that she could talk about his sex. He is raging.
"L-Let me explain!" Kassandra instantly yelled as she kneed him on his stomach, making him fall out to the bed.
He moaned from both pain from her attack and from falling out of bed.
"I was just driving that man away, that is why I intentionally said that!"
He stilled as his eyes circled when he saw the tears falling down from her eyes.
"I'm sorry if it was lewd but he was trying to rape me!" She sobbed, her voice cracked, and then she bent her knees and hugged herself.
He was not able to speak and remained looking at her. Guilt is consuming him that he had misunderstood what had happened and impulsively overreacted. He was thinking of something else since he found out how powerful this hotel could be.
"I... I'm sorry." He mumbled.
Kassandra stopped sniffing and looked at him. He was now squatting on the floor and was looking down and somewhere not meeting her eyes.
Did she hear it wrong?
She wiped her tears and looked at the window’s direction. Minutes of silence passed before she spoke.
"T-Thank you for coming at the right time." She stuttered, making him look at her.
Jacob did not speak and thought about his actual purpose of coming to her all of a sudden. To ease the silence, he spoke. "I went here to... confirm... I don't know whether I should believe those information or not- I mean-
"Don't doubt the power of Astaire."
He stilled as he stared at her eyes that painted remorse. That look that means something, like... she had been through something...
"If I hadn't got this hotel, I would not know that my mother was murdered."
His eyes instantly widened as he felt the tightening of his chest because he saw how she tried composing those words to say. She even forced a smile when her eyes clearly wanted to cry more.
"If I hadn't got this hotel, I wouldn't know that my own father murdered my own mother." She looked down and looked at her toes, her voice was low.
"Astaire is my only place of memory with my mother. That's why I could not give it up," she started telling her story while moving her toes.
"I would rather take down the whole city than handing this-only-property to my older sister," she chuckled.
"Isn't it odd? I can kill my own father with my bare hands. I can ask Astaire to wipe out Rivera..." her smile faded, "but papa is still my father. She was loved by my mother," she paused for a bit and then her eyes went in rage, "But papa is a bastard. He only wants money and wealth," she asked, "I can say that he is an insect. And I couldn't kill an insect," she made a sarcastic smile and went out of bed like nothing at all.
She was back to herself just in a short period of time.
"I was happy I have finally vented it out to someone. It kinda made me feel good," she beamed and walked to the kitchen.
"Have you had breakfast?" She turned her gaze to Jacob who was still looking at her.
"What about coffee? Or tea?" She asked politely as she watched him stand up.
"Coffee. You can just call for a service right?" He replied, not looking at her anymore, as he walked to the sofa.
"Ah, okay. I would have made you blend and brewed coffee if you didn't insist on asking for service," she shrugged, while walking towards the telephone.
"What kind of coffee do you want?" She asked again.
"Espresso."
She nodded and talked to the other line.
"From the highest floor, take me two cups of Espresso." She dropped the call and walked towards him. She then sat to the opposite.
Kassandra could feel the change of the mood like… she does not need to fear the look in the eyes of the man in front of her now.
"So you have received Astaire's email this morning and you were asking for confirmation?" She asked formally.
"Maybe you have missed something there or you haven't read the whole information. Well, the evidence is usually at the last page."
Jacob was not able to speak because he hadn’t read all of the information yet.
"Maybe you were shocked by the information? Did you find out something that might really be confidential?"
His brows furrowed, "You haven't read the file?"
She nodded, "Yes, it is not me who worked for it."
"Then who?"
"I told you before that Asta and Blaire have families that support them. As for Blaire, I have 3 families under me. One of them works in Adobe. The other two work for my protection."
He did not react and later they heard the doorbell rings and a butler who will be serving them comes inside.
"You've glowed up, Justin." Kassandra complimented the butler when he drew close.
The butler lowers his head, shyly.
"T-Thank you, young lady. I... I'm glad you remember my name."
"I don't forget names, especially my employees. Is your mother okay now?"
"Yes, young lady. Thank you so much for your concern."
"No worries. You may go now. I'll ask for service if needed."
"Yes, young lady. Have a nice day."
Jacob just watched Kassandra being friendly to her employees that he had never done with his female employees. Now he thinks of it, this woman has just changed mood in a short while and is now acting normal. He had never seen her as formal and friendly as this because he sees her as a rude woman before. Truly, do not judge the person by its looks.
"One of the reasons why I don't want to let go of this hotel are my employees. They're all my friends," she smiled, genuinely.
They started drinking their coffee as silence engulfed the room. Until then, Kassandra thinks of asking him directly.
"Do you want to engage with me then?"
Jacob just looked at her. Kassandra is taking engagement lightly when it is a serious matter with him. He had engaged before and it took many years to have that and now he is getting engaged again in just a month? Well, this isn't like some romantic things. This is purely business. And he can make use of it.
Kassandra let out a sigh.
"You don't even look like you are interested. Maybe I should show you more?"
His brows furrowed.
There is more?
She stood up with a grin on her lips.
"Do you know BDSM, Mr. Des Fluers?"
Jacob almost choked while drinking his coffee.
What the hell? Is this hotel a Prostitution Company?
Kassandra laughed so hard with his reaction.
"Just kidding."
