Capítulo 6 Quarrel at the Meeting

"Kakang Nambi, of course you are offended by my words earlier" Rangga Lawe exclaimed to Nambi who was still amazed "but you should like to draw a sharp line between personal affairs and state affairs. We are old friends, comrades in arms. We have never been in conflict, never held grudges against each other. . As a friend, Rangga Lawe is willing to defend you with all your body and soul. But with state affairs, I am forced to put the interests of the country above personal relations! No matter how bitter and sharp the words I said earlier, they are a reality. I accept you as a good friend but not I'll let you serve as Patih Amangkubumi of the Majapahit kingdom!"
Rangga Lawe stopped paying attention to Nambi. You can see the face of the regent Nambi, the ebb and flow of his light. A moment of tense red, a moment of pale silence.
"If you are angry with what I said and hold a grudge against me, I will not step back even a step from accountability. If, where and at any time, day or night, Rangga Lawe is ready to face you!"
Instantly, the body of Prime Minister Nambi shivered when he heard the challenge that was directly addressed to him. His molars were chattering, face burning red. Simultaneously he wanted to accept Lawe's challenge. But just as his feet were about to be swung, another consideration crossed his mind.
Quarrels, let alone fights in front of the king, were considered an act that demeaned the king. As a patih, Nambi understands all the laws in the laws of the Majapahit kingdom.
Whoever in anger abuses others, makes fun of defects in body, head, food, behavior,
birth, class, intelligence, other people's knowledge, then that person is considered to have done wakparusya. And if that person is on the same level of birth and position as the person he humiliated, then he will be subject to a fine of two hundred and fifty satak salawe or money.
Rangga Lawe insulted himself, can be subject to a wakparusya lawsuit. And because Rangga Lawe is equal to himself, then the law is only a fine as much as satak salawe. So thought Nami. And suddenly rose his anger. No! He was not satisfied that he was being insulted by Lawe with such a cheap fine. Where should he hide his face from the ridicule that will be leveled off by all the ministers, signs, gusti and narapraja in the Majapahit kingdom.
Simultaneously Nambi wanted to rise to answer Rangga Lawe's challenge. If necessary he is ready to defend his honor with weapons. The blood of the patih whose hair was starting to turn gray, was boiling.
Nambi does have advantages in assessing and making judgments about something. Because of these qualities, he is always careful, both in words and actions. Every step and action, of course, always considered the consequences. That cautious attitude made him look like a coward. And it's not wrong for a man like Rangga Lawe who is hot-tempered to think of him as a coward. But actually Nambi is a far-sighted thinker. One who is slow and slow suffers both insults and attacks.
But it's never too late to take revenge. Never an enemy can escape the net of his clutches. Like an octopus hand grabbing the victim. Slow, soft but deadly.
Just as anger was about to take over his heart space, a glimmer of an idea emerged "If I take on Lawe's challenge, even though it is clear he was the one who started it first, I will certainly be blamed. If I just keep quiet, that arrogant person himself is responsible. more than that. He is of course considered insulting the king. Insulting all the ministers, signs, gusti, regents, senopati who were present. The grand assembly presided over by the king, is the highest authority in the Majapahit kingdom. Disrupting the assembly means disrupting the country. The law for disrupting the state is death . So with my appointment as governor of Amangkubumi. Opposing the king's decision, means rebelling. The law is annihilated!"
After calculating the pros and cons, he finally canceled his intention. He quickly erased the fury of his anger and then directed his eyes towards the king, demanding justice.
The minister of hulubalang was shaking even more. They were horrified when they heard Rangga Lawe's words, which showed off his arrogance and wildness. Kebo Anabrang, Senopati Across the Sea, or what is known as Senopati Pamalayu, was shivering from the heat. His body seemed to be burning with anger. But he still managed to hold back. He doesn't want to break the rules.
Danghyang Brahmaraja, the head of the Shiva religious sect who was present at the grand pasewakan, immediately intervened "Angger Adipati, please be patient sir. Remember. Currently a grand meeting is being held led by the king himself. If you act in violation of the precepts, you insult the king. All right, sir. think about the consequences for the members of your lord's family…”
