CHAPTER 7

Vladimir's POV
The people believed the so-called epidemic and some of them even rushed to the nearest hospital to ask for a prescription. There's no medicine to cure the virus, and no prevention so they also didn't get it because normal doctors are still studying it - what they thought was a disease when it's not.
Though, there is really a cure and it's our blood. When bitten by a vampire, using the vampire's blood it will heal but when the virus spreads only the human blood is the cure but that would make the human a vampire.
The whole place declared no business for days because of what happened. They were so afraid so they bought a lot of stocks and hid inside their houses. I don't know how long people will do that but it's still a good decision especially and we're not sure when the half-bloods will start. They had better stay in their homes first.
Mom and Dad were not yet back from the council meeting. Vanna met with the other owl and Via accompanied her.
Van, I and Stan with the other vampires started patrolling the town and the nearby town for a possible attack. The place is still safe and negative for the last days since the attack. Looks like a lot of people ran out of half-blood so they went low first.
I was on my way back home since the vampires who will replace us already came. Van and I have been guarding the town for two days straight.
Luckily, I saw Cassy wearing our uniform again. She is sitting on the bench, near the church and she looks really tired as if so much has happened to her for the last few days that I haven't seen her.
I haven't seen her since I took them to church with those two kids. I also don't know if the children we brought in were okay.
I hope they were okay. I also didn't see anyone wandering the street so they were probably all in the church with the sisters or priests though the church was still open. I see nothing much going on here.
I leaned over her which surprised her. "Hey," she said softly. "What are you doing here?"
I don't know but I automatically hugged her. I missed her? I don't know, I just want to hug her and ease the tiredness in her eyes. "Why do you look so tired, what did you do?"
"No, I'm fine. I did not sleep well because I was watching over the kids but I'm okay. " She moved away from me. "You are," she slightly smiled. "Did you miss me?"
"Duh!" I reacted quickly. "I just noticed you're so tired."
"So, I need a hug?" She teased me.
"Don't you like it?"
She did not react but hugged me instead.
I could hear her heavy breathing between the hug. She was so tired. She still looked so serene but you could really see in her eyes that she was tired. "Are you sick?" I whispered softly.
This is the first time I hugged her and now I just noticed how light she is. I mean, it felt like I'm sleeping on clouds as I hugged her. I feel peace while I'm holding her. I never learned the magic she used on me.
"No, I'm okay," she whispered.
"Ugh!" I broke away from her embrace. She had her eyes closed. "C'mon, I'll braid your hair, and then we will go somewhere."
"Where?" she asked. I turned her around and started to braid her hair. When I finished I invited her to walk.
I held her hand tightly and we walked to the train station. Since there is no work and there aren't many people wandering around I'm sure she will enjoy the beautiful view on the train.
"Shall we take the train?"
I noticed that she was a little excited when she found out.
"Yeah, and we're going to watch a movie," I added.
"Hmm, wait. That is 4 and 5 on my list. You're cheating!."
I laughed when she pouted. "Not really, just hitting two birds in one stone."
She smiled.
We're on board. Like I said, there weren't too many people trying to get out so there were only a few passengers inside the train. If I had to count, there were only ten of us inside and there were few don in another train car.
"Did you eat lunch?" I asked. She nodded as she silently watched the sky that seemed to be running while we were inside the train. The whole sky was clear and there were a few clouds following us. "You've never been to a train before?"
"Hmm, I did. Though, that was a long time ago," she said as if it was a sign that she's living - wait, is she also living for a long time just like us?
I haven't asked Mom about her because Dad and I haven't come home yet. She was also unable to say what Cassy was because of the attack. Of course, there were more important things than Cassy, especially I'm sure she wasn't a threat to us. I can already feel it.
"Long time ago, how old are you?" I said laughing. "You're fooling me."
"No, oh wow, the sky looks so peaceful." She pointed upstairs. I remembered that I was carrying a cellphone so I took it and secretly stole a picture of her. I'm very sure she's not a vampire because I clearly got a picture of her.
She's so beautiful like the skies above.
We arrived at the mall after a minute. Some malls are still open despite their fears but very few people come. Before watching the movie, I invited her to go around the shops and stalls until she got tired. But, her tiredness now is not the same as it was a while ago because right now I see her eyes happy even though it is tired. I felt somehow proud because I know I'm one of the reasons why, and that I made her happy.
We lined up for popcorn. There are a few who line up and then the seller is slow because she is alone. I told him to wait because I am going to the comfort room.
Though I lied, I went to the department store and bought the ocean blue dress I saw a while ago. I could see that she was staring at it.. I checked first and made sure it fits her before I buy it. I even bought her heels and I don't know how I thought that was the size of her foot. I just know that fits her and I hope I'm not wrong.
Cassy was already standing outside the cinema carrying popcorn. "It's going to start now."
She handed me the ticket he bought. She was about to enter when I stopped her.
"We are going here," I pointed out at the last cinema. She was surprised.
"Huh? It's closed."
"Nah, it's for VIP only."
"I'm not a VIP—" She protested. I took her hand and went inside.
I actually texted Stan before going here so he arranged for a cinema to close so we could watch the movie she really liked.
"Wait, what are we going to watch? Let's just go? " she said after we entered. I pointed to the middle seat so we could sit there.
"Your favorite movie. We are going to do a marathon here," I said with a smile.
"Really, you mean Twilight?" she could not believe it. "Wow, I really like that movie. I felt like Bella when I watched it."
"You are not Bella," I shook my head. "I'm not Edward, I'm more handsome than him."
Cassy turned to me. "Really, which part," he teased with a laugh.
I laughed with her.
Then, in a second the lights were off and the movie started.
She is also silent while watching but once in a while she will say how handsome Edward is and then she will pretend to laugh at me and we will both laugh.
Via was the one who told me that Cassy wanted to watch Twilight. I watched the movie once with my family because it was Van who wanted to know why people are so addicted to Twilight, especially Edward.
I can say that the love story of the movie is beautiful and the two male protagonists are handsome, so people mostly liked it, especially the teenage girls. But I wonder, if they knew the vampire was really real, would people still like it or are they going to be afraid?
"Why aren't you afraid of me, of us?"
"Why would I?"
"I am a vampire."
"I knew you even before you became a vampire."
"What?" I asked in shock. "What do you mean? Who are you really?"
"It's not important who I am anymore Vlad." She stood up. "Let's go. Next time we will watch part two again so that we still have a reason to meet."
"Will we have no more reason to meet when I finish your bucket list?"
"I told you, if you finish that I would disappear in your life forever. After all, it's not really true— "
"I like you."
I finally said it. I knew it. I couldn't admit to myself how I felt because I didn't know. I don't know if it's right or if it's true or I was just blinded by the idea.
But no, I am sure, very sure. I don't even know how to describe how I feel. I know I like her. I like her or maybe like is even an understatement. I don't know the name of it as long as I know every time I see him, every time I'm with him I'm so happy. That I finally found what I am looking for. I've finally found my purpose in life. I can only see the smile on his face. I am happy.
She gave meaning to my hundred years of existence and I can't afford to lose her. I want to protect her, to cherish her for the rest of her life. I want to stay with her. I don't care what she is, or don't even want to know her past. All I care about is seeing her and making everyday meaningful.
"You don't really know me."
"I don't care." I answered quickly. "I like you."
"I don't like you."
"You're hurting me." I looked at him intently. I feel pain piercing my heart.
"I don't like you," she smiled. "I love you." She bowed and turned away.
"You, do you really love me?" She started walking to the exit.
Why is it past tense?
I chased her and for some inexplicable reason she suddenly disappeared from sight. She suddenly disappeared again. Annoying! Damn! I circled the entire mall and was frustrated that I stood near the entrance because I could not find her.
I left the mall. I was caught in the heavy rain so I just stayed standing there on the side.
Wondering what I would do until she appeared in front of me.
How can she manage to do that?
"Can you please just, please just make me remember you," I said with difficulty. "Please, let me remember you. I know, I can feel that you've been part of me before I just don't know why I can't remember it. Please, give me back my memories of you. "
Cassy looked at me for a moment until she shifted her gaze in front of us. She did not answer my question.
"Is what you bought earlier for me?" She took it.
"Okay, I'll wear it tomorrow. Can I come to you or are you still busy because of what happened?" she asked. "I want to watch the shooting star tomorrow, because I heard in the news that it will be tomorrow night. Can I? "
"Shooting star? Meteor shower? " I asked suddenly. I remember Vanna's visions.
"Nope, just a shooting star really. The meteor shower is also different, it will be next month," she explained. "According to the news, next month there will be a meteor shower and it will last for an hour. I want one that one too, let's watch that one."
Vanna should know this. Is that the sign? Will there be war between half-bloods and purebloods during that time?
"Thank you for this, I will wear it. And also for the heels." She held my hand and again I never learned the magic she used to make me calm.
"Let's run under the rain.
"
Before I could speak she pulled me away. I felt the cold raindrops. Even with too much rain, I can still hear her laugh between the raindrop.
If I could trade my immortality, I would trade it for her, just to see her smile everyday.
We were so wet because of the rain but it just seemed like nothing to her. We stood there on the side to dry off for a while. She was wearing a white uniform and fortunately she also had underwear so her undergarments were not obvious. I looked for a place to buy even a t-shirt but I couldn't find anything.
"That'll make you sick," I said, worried. "We can just wait for it to stop."
"It's okay, it's just once..." She stopped as she stared at me. "Your eyes"
Sht! I quickly touched my eye. Damn! I didn't even realize that my contact lens had been removed. I closed my eyes. I don't like other people seeing my eyes because I don't want them to be afraid of me.
I don't know, who wouldn't be scared when you see someone with red eyes right? Vampire eyes are typically red just like what you can see in movies but with us, we have different shades of red for us to be distinguished from the lowerbloods because they only have plain red eyes.
For the Fall House, they got the shade of maroon reflecting a sword when you look closely. For House Ruin, they got the shade of red orange reflecting flames. For us, we got crimson red reflecting the crescent moon.
Though, I've got different eyes, far different from ours and even the other houses. My right eye is crimson red reflecting the crescent moon while my left eye is ocean blue reflecting the clouds. I don't have any idea what it looks like and can't remember since when I had the eyes.
I just woke up one day with these eyes, and my parents don't even know how I got those so I never really showed it to other vampires aside from my family, and now her. I don't know what to feel. Sometimes Via screamed while seeing me with these eyes, and always told me how weird it was. I don't know, I can't see my reflection.
All I know is that someone died because of my eyes, because he'd seen my eyes. Years ago, I joined the football team and the coach became a close friend of mine. By accident, he saw me with my eyes when I removed my contact lens after practice. I don't know how, I don't have any idea he said he saw something in my eyes, my ocean blue eyes, he said he saw hell. And the next day, we just saw him dead. I always blame myself so from then on I made sure I always wore a contact lens and to never let people see my eyes.
And then, she saw it. She even stared at it. I just can't. What if what happened before happened to her again? I will never forgive myself.
"Why, open it. I want to look at it."
"No!" I dug into my pocket for the extra contact lens and turned away to put it on.
"Your eyes," I heard her whisper. "Are beautiful."
