Chapter Two

"She's a supernatural!" He said and left with a knowing smirk.
***
Cassie managed to find her way into the girl's bathroom and slammed the door shut. She looked into the mirror and saw that it was true.
"I have blue eyes? OMG I have blue eyes. This is crazy! My eyes were brown before I left home for school this morning." She said and facepalmed. She put both hands on her waist, and paced back and forth, thinking of what to do.
She looked into the mirror again and her hair turned blue with red straps on the edges. She stumbled backwards out of shock
"What just happened?" She asked no one in particular. She looked into the mirror again and everything was back to normal. She couldn't wait to go home and tell Aunt Maggie everything.
She glanced at the mirror one more time just to confirm if she's okay before heading back to class. She met Asher talking to some of his friends and admired him. He was so cute with awesome black hair and flawless skin. How can a human be this handsome?
Asher sensed her presence, and went to meet her.
"Hey newbie." He waved at her with a smile.
"Hi." She replied and wanted to leave but he stopped her.
"Why are you in such a hurry to go? I haven't shown you round the school yet." He said, still wearing that awesome smile. Cassie wondered why he was nice to her all of a sudden. Wasn't he rude to her the other time she bumped into him?
    "Round the school?" She asked.
"Yeah." He answered and looked at her eyes again, it was back to normal. He had to admit, the girl was cute but naive and inexperienced.
"So what's your name?" He asked.
    "Cassandra." She answered.
"I'm gonna call you Cassie." He said and smiled.
    "Okay." She said.
"Well Cassie, my name is Asher, and as the principal's son, it is my duty to show you round the school, and to make sure you get acquainted with the environment." He said.
"Okay. Please, let's do it tomorrow. I really have a serious issue that I need to deal with now." She said, avoiding his gaze.
"Alright. See you tomorrow then." He said, tucked his hands in his pockets and walked away.
She sighed and headed back to class. When she sat down, Crystal noticed that her eyes were back to normal.
"Were you using eye contacts then?" Crystal asked.
     "Yeah, I was." She lied.
"Sorry for making you remove it." Crystal said, smiling sadly.
"No, it's no big deal." She shrugged it off.

The last bell for the day rung, signifying that school was over. Cassie sighed in relief and happiness then hurried out of the class. She kept avoiding the students gaze till she was outside the school premises. She stopped a cab, gave him a description of where she lives and he drove her home.
AT HOME
Aunt Maggie was speaking with a man in the living room.
"You don't understand, Maggie. Cassie is a different type of Supernatural being. Normal supernatural children get their powers immediately they're born but she's different."
"But hope she won't be dangerous?" Maggie asked in a worried tone.
"If her bad side could be caged, then she's okay." The man said.
"Her bad side?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"Yes. I need to study her powers as it develops so that I can confirm my doubts." The man said.
    "Zaire, tell me how_"
"Aunt Maggie!" Cassie yelled from outside which interrupted her.
The man bowed and disappeared before Cassie opened the door.
"Good afternoon, Aunt. Aunt! You won't believe what happened in school today." Cassie said.
    "What happened?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"My eyes and hair turned blue!" She said, and Aunt Maggie gasped.
"Your eyes and hair turned blue?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"Yes! You have to believe me. It was so real that I felt like I was some kind of magical being." Cassie said.
    "Really?" Aunt Maggie smirked.
"Yes. It made the students to start looking at me in a weird way." She said.
Aunt Maggie sighed and pulled her to sit down.
    "Cassie?"
    "Yes Aunt." Cassie answered.
"I think it's time I tell you the truth." Aunt Maggie said.
Cassie was confused. "What truth are you talking about?" She asked.
"The truth about who you really are." Aunt Maggie said.
    "Okay. Tell me."
"Cassie, do you believe that supernaturals exists?"
Cassie blinked. "Supernaturals?" She asked and Aunt Maggie nodded. "I don't think that they exist. I've only watched them in movies, and read them in novels."
"But they are real, Cassie. And you're one of them." Aunt Maggie said.
Cassie burst into laughter. "You're kidding right?" She observed her aunt's expression and stopped laughing. "Oh! You're serious."
      "Of course I am."
"Are you a supernatural too?" Cassie asked.
"I'm a human but I have supernatural powers. I'm sorry for not telling you all this while." Aunt Maggie said.
Cassie stood up and paced round the room. "This is ridiculous, aunt. I don't believe you." She said.
"Do you want proof?"Aunt Maggie asked and Cassie nodded.
Maggie stood up and took a deep breath. She closed her eyes for sometime and immediately she opened them, fire was already surrounding her, and her eyes were in flames.
Cassie's mouth dropped open and she gasped.
"Do you believe me now?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"Yes! Yes! I believe you. Please return to your normal self." She pleaded.
"Don't you wanna see all my powers?" Aunt Maggie teased.
"I'll see that later." Cassie said.
Aunt Maggie chuckled and everything disappeared and returned to normal.
Cassie was over the moon "So you mean I can do what you just did and more?" She asked.
    "Yeah."
"This is awesome! I've always wanted super powers. OMG! I'm so happy I could fly," Immediately she said that, she started floating in the air. She screamed. "Aunt, am I flying?"
"Yes you are, sweetie. Your powers work with your thoughts." Aunt Maggie said.
"So, what you're trying to say is that whenever I think about anything, I can do it."
    "Probably."
Cassie shrieked in happiness, and hits her head on the ceiling. "Ouch! I think I'll come down now." She said and flew down. She didn't land steadily and ended up hitting her butt on the floor. "Ouch!" She exclaimed again.
"Wow! Cassie, I'm so happy you finally got your powers." She hugged her.
"Aunt?" Cassie called.
    "Yes?"
"What about my parents? Do they have supernatural powers too? Please tell me everything about them." She requested.
"You really want to know?" Aunt Maggie asked.
"Yes, please." Cassie answered. They sat down on the couch and Aunt Maggie began,
"Your parents were the best supernaturals in the realm and people adored them. They were chosen as heads of the magical kingdom, protecting it from cunning witches, vampires, and demons. The realm of pure magic, which your parents headed didn't see eye to eye with the witches because the witches were selfish and wanted the kingdom for their species only."
"Wow!" She exclaimed and Aunt Maggie continued,
"Your parents, Harven and Roanna, made a suggestion for a peace treaty so as to unite us with the witches but the witches turned it to war and then they were banished from the realm."
     "What happened next?"
"Your parents lived many years looking for a child, the one that'll take over from them but none came. Then few years later, their prayers were answered, and you were born. But you were born a human which grieved them cause you had no powers."
"Then they abandoned me?" Cassie asked, becoming moody immediately.
"No, dear. They wanted to protect you. That's why they brought you to the human world, to me." Aunt Maggie said.
"No, aunt that's not true," Tears steamed down her cheeks and rain started falling outside. "They were ashamed of me."
"No. They only wanted you to be amongst your kind." Aunt Maggie tried touching her but a forcefield was already surrounding her.
"If they loved me,they would have come to see me. For good 17 years, I haven't set my eyes on my parents, not even once. This isn't fair. I hate them!" She rushed upstairs in anger and thunder struck followed by lightening.
   "Oh No!"
