Chapter 1

3rd Person Pov
“I never knew that marrying you would be the biggest regret I had in my life. ”
———
Flash back...
Solstice stood uneasily in front of her father's office door. For the sake of their business, she was asked to go there to discuss her upcoming wedding. She inhaled deeply and walked slowly into the office. She spotted her father seated in his chair, his hands on the table, clutching each other. On his table, he had files, a laptop, and a cup of coffee. The files on his table drew Solstice's attention among the objects on his table.
Solstice called out to his father, "Baba, I'm here." She sat down in front of her father's table on the seat. Her father's presence made her anxious, she hurriedly clutched her dress, trying to relax.
"Here are the files you need to check, Solstice," her father said as he handed her the files. "Those are the options you have," he added. There were three files, representing three men.
"I'll check it right now, baba," she said, taking the files and placing them on her lap.
"There are only three business partners of mine who have a child who is available," he stated, in a business like tone.
Solstice's Pov
The first thing I saw when I opened the first file was the name, "Edward Alcott." He's a blonde guy who looks like a fuckboy, with tattoos all over his body and piercings as well.
I immediately closed the first file, "Nah, I don't like him, not my type."
I opened the next file. I saw a guy. In the picture, he was at the bar. He was drinking and girls were surrounding him.
“Play boy, “ I muttered and my father chuckled.
Last file, who is this one? I opened the last file and a guy with glasses in formal attire was seen. I looked at his information to see his achievements and his name was “Luan Devlin.” I saw this guy earlier.
Flashback...
While I was walking to my father's office, someone grabbed my arm and pulled me. As I turned around to see who it was, an unfamiliar face came into my sight.
“Don't choose me, “he firmly grasped my arm. “Luan Devlin, in case you don't know, “he said, then left.
End of flashback...
"I recommend Luan Devlin, but it is entirely your decision," my father remarked, advising me to pick this Luan Devlin.
I'm sorry Luan, based on what I see through the files, you are the only person who I see that can treat me better than these two. My father is also suggesting to pick you.
I inhaled deeply and said, “Luan Devlin, I'll marry this guy. ” Sorry for being selfish, Luan.
“Tomorrow, you guys have to be here. No need for ceremonies or what, just sign the marriage contract and tada, you guys are married, “baba said to me as I gave him the files.

After giving her father the files, the young lady, Solstice, sighed and rose from her seat.
"I'll be back here tomorrow, baba," she spoke before leaning closer to her father, giving him a peck on the cheek, then bowed her head.
She went out of her father's office and she met Luan on her way out. He was leaning his back against the wall, staring daggers at her.
He heard everything…
She still chose him even though he told her not to.
She took a deep breath, fearful of what the man would do to her. Because of her fear and guilt toward the man, she felt as if something was clogging her airway, and she couldn't breathe properly.
"They say you're smart, but it looks like they're mistaken," he scoffed as he strode past me, deliberately bumping me. As he entered her father's office, he muttered, "You're as dumb as hell." For some reason, his words hurt her. That was the first time someone said that to her
"I just picked you to have a good husband," she said as she turned around seeing him stop walking.
"You really think I'm your husband?" he asked, his eyebrows raised. “Ms. Knox, treat me like your husband, but I will not return the favor. I'd like to let you know that I'll never treat you like my wife. Keep that in your small brain,“he stated in a cold tone.
She stayed mute, unsure why her heart began to race while they exchanged words. Luan resembled her ideal type, and she liked it when her ideal type was rude to her, but not as rude as Luan.
She sighed and closed her eyes as she clutched her clothes close to her chest. She wished to herself, "I hope I didn't picked the wrong guy."
- tomorrow -
Solstice was seated in the room where her father usually held company meetings. She was with her father and with the person who was going to assist with their wedding. They were waiting for the Devlins.
Her hands were getting sweaty and she was scared of what might happen to her after the wedding. Is she going to have a good life with him? There were thoughts that were running through her head.
“Are you okay?“ her father asked her, looking worried. He held her hand and noticed it was sweaty. He rubbed the back of her palm with his thumb, trying to calm her down.
“Yes baba, I'm fine,“ she said, showing him a fake smile so that he wouldn't worry about her. She knew her father didn't want to force her, but it was for their company also. She wanted to do everything for the company because she knew that it was her own father's hard work that built that company.
'It's fine, a little sacrifice for my father. He sacrificed his own self and time for me, so that I could have a good life,' she thought to herself.
Her eyes squinted, her body froze, her heart stopped beating for a moment as she heard the door open. Hearing Luan's complaint, he complained that he didn't want to marry someone like her.
"Ah ma, I don't want someone like her. If you want me to get married, I prefer someone with a high status and confidence to face people. Her? I saw her present one time. All she did was talk without explaining it properly and without any proper standing position, “he complained to his mother as they walked in.
She inhaled deeply to stop herself from crying after hearing those words from him. She's also sensitive when it comes to words. That's why people around her were very wise and careful with their own words before they said them to her.
“ Luan how can you say that, she's fine. She'll be a good wife to you, okay? Don't say something like that, it'll hurt her feelings“ his mother said to him in a sweet tone.
He looked at Solstice angrily and said, "I don't care about her ma, I don't care if she gets hurt or what."
She just gave him a smile to show him that she was not affected by his words, but the truth was that his words were like needles that were stabbing her heart repeatedly because of the stinging feeling she felt while hearing those words from her soon-to-be husband.
He locked his gaze on her, his eyes gleaming with rage. He sat next to her, and she glanced back at him, maintaining eye contact with him. He exclaimed, his voice full of wrath, "You're ruining my life."
She sighed and just looked at her father. She felt guilty for choosing him. She didn't want to ruin his life. She thought that she was taking his freedom away from him. She took his freedom to date someone who he loved. She was afraid that he already had someone that he loved that he wanted to marry instead. He just said he wanted someone who was confident in facing the crowd. Maybe he already knew someone.
"Alright, let's get started,“ Solstice's father said as he gave Solstice and Luan a brown envelope with a marriage contract in it. He also gave them a ballpen to use for signing the marriage contract.
Luan opened the brown envelope and took out the contract. He first signed the contract and then gave it to Solstice together with the ballpen. She sighed and looked at Luan before signing it. After she signed the contract, she gave it to her father.
“Yay! Congratulations to the newlywed! “ Luan's mother said with a loud voice that was full of excitement.
"By the way, starting today, you guys will live in the same house. I already sent you the address, Luan, “Solstice's father said to Luan.
“You guys can go home now, “ his mother said to them.
Luan pushed himself and the chair he was sitting in backwards by pressing his hand on the table. He got up and walked out of the room. Solstice took a look around, deciding whether or not to follow him. Luan's mother motioned for her to follow him, and she did exactly so.
They both entered the parking lot as she followed Luan behind. Luan went into the driver's seat of the car. Solstice pulled open the front door and sat into the passenger seat next to the driver's seat.
"That seat isn't for you, it's only for the person I love deeply,"he stated coldly. "Go sit behind," he ordered harshly to her. She slowly nodded her head while biting her lower lip. She got out of the car and sat in the back seat.
'Only for the person he love deeply hm I see.. ' Solstice thought.
