Chapter 7
Stephen hurriedly picked Kelly up and put her in the car to take her to the hospital. "Are you okay?" he glanced at Kelly while driving. "Please don't take me to the hospital," she replied in her weak voice. “You need to be examined by a doctor because you’re pale,” Stephen advised her.
Stephen took her to the nearest hospital and immediately took her to the emergency room.
"Just wait outside Sir," a nurse told him after he had written the patient's name and his full name.
He waited for about an hour outside and suddenly the nurse called him.
"Sir, are you Stephen dela Calzada the patient's boyfriend?" the male nurse asked him. "Why? Is there a result of her test?" Stephen asked incredulously. "The patient is already in ward three and the doctor called you because the patient is still resting," the nurse informed him.
Stephen quickly went to the ward and he peeked inside and saw Kelly asleep while the doctor watched over her. He knocked and opened the door.
"Good morning sir, are you the patient's boyfriend?" the doctor smiled. He also showed the doctor his happy face. "Yes, why is there a problem with her health?" he asked the doctor as he rolled his eyes at Kelly. "Congratulations, because you're going to be a daddy!" the doctor revealed to him. "What? It means she's pregnant!" Stephen was surprised and he couldn’t help but raise his voice which caused Kelly to wake up.
"Stephen, let me explain," Kelly replied in her stuttering voice. The doctor was confused by their reaction. "Doc, I'm sorry for my reaction because my girlfriend surprised me so I was shocked," he tapped the doctor on the shoulder. “That’s really how women love surprises,” the doctor smiled as he wrote the prescription. Kelly was just silent as she calmed herself. "You can get her out now, her vital signs are okay, she needs a break and you buy the vitamins she needs in her pregnancy especially folic acid," the doctor advised while giving the prescription to Stephen.
Stephen paid the hospital bill and they went home. Stephen was driving quietly and didn't say a word to Kelly and was obviously disappointed with what he found out. The car stopped in front of the house and Stephen immediately helped her get out of the car.
He broke the silence.
"Who is the father of that?" Stephen smirked as he pointed to his belly. "Son of my boss," Kelly's tears dripped. “Doña kicked me out when she found out I was pregnant and her son didn’t believe I was pregnant so she let her mother kick me out,” Kelly moaned loudly. Stephen felt sorry for Kelly's condition.
“Your condition is pitiful, stay here first until you give birth,” Stephen suggested.
Kelly was sound asleep and if the alarm clock hadn't rang over and over, she wouldn't have woken up. She hurried to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for Stephen but she saw some food served on the table so she approached it. It was covered and with a sticky note pasted.
"I bought you a ripe mango and watermelon, eat that to make baby healthy, be careful," Kelly smiled as she read the message.
"Lyca is very lucky with her boyfriend," she said. The phone rang and he immediately picked it up.
"Hello, good morning," Kelly's voice seemed to rattle. "This is Stephen, are you done with breakfast?" Kelly heard the joy in Stephen's voice. "Forgive me Stephen for not waking up early, and thank you for the food and fruit you prepared," she replied as she twisted na telephone wire.
"I'll have dinner with Auntie later so don't cook for me," he instructed. "Okay Stephen, be careful there," she replied. Stephen hung up the phone so she decided to have breakfast. Kelly repeatedly read Stephen’s message on the sticky note and she couldn’t help but shudder at its message so she picked it up and glued it to the refrigerator door.
It was five o'clock in the afternoon and Kelly thought of having dinner early. So she just cooked noodles and fried a slice of ham. While she was busy slicing the ham the door suddenly opened.
"Kelly, I'm sorry I got home early because Lyca and I are just going to have dinner here," Kelly's heart seemed to pound when she heard Lyca's name.
"Honey, I'm on a diet now so I just want a slice of cake and a cold drink," Lyca said softly to her boyfriend.
Kelly heard what Lyca said to her boyfriend so she immediately sliced ​​the cake and she also put a glass of cold water. As Kelly approached she saw Lyca's evil stare at her so she was nervous as she placed the cake on the table. As she put down a glass of cold water Lyca blocked her elbow so the water splashed on her.
"Ouch!" Kelly cried out because of the cold water that had spilled into her belly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," Lyca exclaimed.
"Miss Lyca, it doesn't matter I'll just get you a new one," Kelly said as she shook her dress.
"Just go to your room and I'll get some water for Lyca," Stephen replied and the tone of his voice was obviously worried.
"Honey, don't bother I'll take it," Lyca said as she hurried to the refrigerator.
Lyca's eyes almost glazed over at what she saw.
She bit her lip hard as she read the message on the sticky note.
"I'm not mistaken you two have a relationship!" Lyca threw the sticky note in Stephen's face. "You misunderstood what you read," Stephen hugged Lyca because he was afraid of what might happen. "Let me go I won't kill myself like I said, the only reason I picked you up at your office is because I want to tell you that I'm willing to break up with you!" Lyca's cheek flushed.
"I realize I don't have to force myself on you anymore because I know you're choking on me," Lyca's tears dripped. "This wouldn't have happened to us if you hadn't betrayed me," he stammered. “I was to blame because I loved Archie,” she frankly admits. “I’ve known everything for a long time so I accept that this is our fate because I have nothing against my cousin,” Stephen released all his resentment. "Forgive me for being greedy, I hope you are happy with your coming baby," she said passionately.
