Chapter Six

Jerson examined the whole area to check if someone was tracking them, and when he found nothing, he finally loosened up. He stared at Vishnu, who was grinning at the woman enjoyably. He could tell how relaxed Vishnu was and wondered if they were a thing. If they are, he won’t be shocked. The two look good together. In addition, they are male and female, which conform to society’s attribution of the norm. ‘The man was made for the woman,’ and thingamabob.
Even though Jerson wanted to ask, he held his tongue and chose just to leave his curiosity unattended. Vishnu’s personal life was out of his business. He is Vishnu’s bodyguard. And for the sake of professionalism, he shouldn’t cross the line between a boss and an employee. He took a deep breath before he reminded himself again. ‘You’re his bodyguard. You protect him, but you shouldn’t step beyond the bottom line’.
In fact, he said yes because he wanted something from Degree. The information that Degree was hiding from him might help him in one way or two. Keeping Vishnu safe is the price he’ll pay for that data. He should acquire that data no matter what. This setup is a give and takes where both parties could benefit from it.
“Hi…”
Crossing legs and slanting his chin on his hand while he leaned his elbow on the table, Jerson lazily glanced at the girl standing next to him on his right side. The girl smiled widely as he saw Jerson’s complexion. She had been staring at Jerson from the very moment he entered the place, and seeing how Jerson looked perfectly, she almost fell. ‘How could a beautiful man like this exist?’
“Uh… are you with someone?” the girl asked. Jerson looked at the girl from head to toe and found her beautiful but not attractive. No matter how seductive the girl was, he wasn’t attracted.
Jerson stopped himself from grimacing. The girl looked kind, and he didn’t want to disrespect anyone.
“I’m with my boss. He’s currently in a meeting.”
“So, do you mind if I keep you company for a while?” the girl asks. He tilted his head, thinking whether to let the girl sit at his table.
Jerson notices that he has attracted this girl. Just by the look on her face, anyone, even the dumbest, could tell that she thought highly of him, and people inside the high-end restaurant wouldn’t blame her for doing so. Jerson gets most people's attention inside the place, but only a few have the guts to approach him. Jerson seemed to be the guy who had dark auras that could take anyone back. But, the girl's features also stand out as the reason why she had such confidence. They might even think that they looked good together, but Jerson knows better. Even if the beautiful girl strips in front of him, he won't get seduced.
“Why?” Those were the words that came out from Jerson’s mouth. He already could tell that the girl was trying to coax him. Only one person had that ability, though, and anyone is just a desperate persuader who’s trying hard to tempt him.
The girl pointed at some random man who was looking at them with furrowed brows.
“That jerk wouldn’t leave me alone,” the girl mumbled with a bit of irritation in her voice. Jerson sighed. Usually, Jerson wouldn’t give a damn about these kinds of people and just look at them, giving off the vibe ‘do-I-look-like-I-care,’ but he was really distracted at the moment.
“Conversing isn’t my thing,” Jerson murmured. The girl enthusiastically sat down at the seat just in front of him. She then called the waiter and ordered their food. Jerson didn’t mind. He isn’t a picky eater.
“You know… I always thought that you’re almost different from others in some unique ways,” the girl told him. “Mikaela is the name, by the way.”
Jerson couldn’t figure out what the girl was hinting at him about, but he could tell that this girl was not ordinary. Jerson was confused about what lies she was hiding behind her cheery and beautiful smile. Everyone has secrets to hide regardless, so he just shrugged it off.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you gay?” Jerson looked at the girl, not even giving her a shred of his emotions. He looked at her with an indifferent face like he didn't care at all. The girl named Mikaela has a straightforward attitude, and this appeared to be pleasant to Jerson, who shares the same trait.
“I’m a man,” Jerson answered using his tepid voice.
“Yes, that’s your sex but as for your sexual orientation? Are you straight or not?” Jerson pressed his lips before mumbling something.
Vishnu, who was now finished having dinner with someone, was now looking at Jerson, talking with Mikaela. Mikaela seemed pleased. Although Vishnu couldn’t see Jerson’s face, he could tell that Jerson was calmed. Compared to when Jerson was with him, the guy now seems to loosen up a bit more.
‘I thought he was bored to death, so I hastily dismissed the discussion.’ Vishnu nagged.‘Oh well, I might as well use this time to rest. I’m beat as fuck’.
The truth is, he felt restless. Seeing Jerson be comfortable in such a crowded place made him worried about his bodyguard. Some of the people he had offended told their underlings to trace them. So he was being watched ever since. They had been tailing them from that day onward.
Vishnu wanted to finish this and solve it by slaughtering the group’s leader. Of course, he knows that he couldn’t. He couldn't even touch the finger of the boss, so he might as well have been able to kill the leader.
He stood up and smoothly strode his feet with a reigning clitter-clatter sound made by his Vogue black shoes. He directly goes to Jerson, who was listening to the bubbly girl.
The ambiance of the restaurant was bright. The music that was breaking the stillness of the restaurant was coming from the instrumentalists at the side of the restaurant, breaking the silence in a very remarkable way.
Some will find it romantic, but Vishnu didn’t. He finds it irritating simply because he isn’t in an excellent mood at the moment.

“This is your boss?” the girl asked innocently. That arrow-shaped lips made Vishnu irked.
“...yeah,” Jerson answered while staring at the man in front with a frowning face. Once again, his curiosity reigns. He wondered how his boss’ date went. From Vishnu’s reactions just now, it doesn’t seem to go very well. Why? Did they discuss something irrelevant that ruined the mood? Was he noticed by the girl, the reason why it burst into irritation and left Vishnu?
Leaving such a fine man, what reason could it be?
“Blessed motherfuckers,” Mikaela cursed at the two men in front of him, which made Jerson laugh again. Jerson finds the girl incredibly funny. This girl was unique. He couldn’t get through Mikaela’s facade, which made her very difficult to read.
“We’re leaving now,” Vishnu murmured with finality in his words. Jerson stood up and followed Vishnu while wondering what made Vishnu this irritated, hoping he wouldn’t get an earful at the car.
