Xeris' POV I was in the school’s dance room. Not sure why, but I felt like dancing today. As I practiced, I suddenly heard the door creak open—just like in a horror movie. I glanced over, but no one was there. Annoyed, I got up and shut the door again. “AHH! Jeez—what the hell?!” a voice yelled behind me. Startled, I turned around to find none other than Jeimy Kim clutching her chest like I’d scared her to death. “What do you mean ‘what am I doing here’? This is the dance room,” I said flatly, shutting the door behind her and leaving her stunned outside. “OPEN THIS DOOR OR ELSE!” she yelled. I smirked. “Or else what, kitty cat?” “Or else I’ll kiss you, you monkey! Now open up!!” she screamed, pounding on the door like she was about to break it. “Sure you will,” I laughed and turned the speaker up loud to drown her out. If I was going to be in trouble for skipping review time, might as well enjoy it. I’d pass the exam anyway. After dancing a bit more, I checked the time. Still had 23 minutes left. I changed into my uniform, grabbed my bag, and left the room—thankfully without running into her again. I headed to my locker to grab my history book and science notes. Honestly, I was glad Jeimy didn’t make a scene this time. Usually, when I pull something mildly chaotic, she acts like she’s about to send me straight to detention. I walked into the classroom and saw her sitting there. Ugh. Of course, she’s my classmate for this period. Looks like I'm already in hell. I quietly took my seat and ignored her gaze. I knew she was staring at me. Thankfully, the professor walked in just in time. “Can I have everyone’s attention?” he asked. “What if I say no?” Ved mumbled from the back. The professor raised an eyebrow. “Then don’t call yourself my student. In fact, you’re free to leave.” Daaaang. That’s why he’s my favorite. Ved stayed quiet, and the professor moved on, handing out the test and giving instructions. Halfway through, I felt some glares behind me. Jeimy’s friends were all staring at me like I’d committed a crime. What *did* I even do? “Xeris, are you finished?” the professor asked. “Not yet, sir—sorry,” I replied, flustered. I focused on finishing my test. --- After the bell rang, everyone started leaving. I gathered my stuff quickly, but then—click. Sky locked the door from the outside. I could hear her and the others laughing as they ran off. “OPEN UP, YOU JOKERS!” I banged on the door. Then I heard a voice behind me. “Why so scared, monkey?” I turned slowly. Jeimy was still there, sitting on one of the desks. How did I not see her earlier? She got up and walked toward me with a smirk. My heart started racing. What was she doing? This felt way too intense for a simple prank. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry! I was just teasing you earlier at the dance room,” I blurted, backing up. “Please don’t mess with me anymore.” She stopped in front of me, quiet. And then, just as I was trying to process everything—she kissed me. I froze. It wasn’t just any kiss—it was soft, gentle. I found myself responding, holding her by the hips. Then she pulled away and smirked again. “You liked that, huh?” she whispered. I didn’t say anything. My head was spinning. Was this a joke? A dare? I knew what kind of games she played. Jeimy wasn’t the type to get serious with anyone. She liked the drama, the thrill. “Please... stop this, Jeimy,” I said, tears welling up in my eyes. “Don’t mess with me like this. I know I’m not your type. Just—just let me go.” I stepped back, breathing hard. My chest felt heavy. I’d liked her since the day she transferred here, but I knew better. She wasn’t into girls. She flirted with every guy on campus. I didn’t want to be just another name on her list. She stepped forward, reaching for me again—but I pushed her back, turned, and kicked at the door until it gave way. Without looking back, I ran. I didn’t care who saw me or what they thought. --- Jeimy’s POV I sat with my friends in the cafeteria, still thinking about what happened earlier. What Xeris said... the way she looked at me, the tears... “YAH! Earth to Jeimy!” Irene snapped me out of it. “Huh? What?” I blinked. “Girl, I literally asked you about what happened with Xeris,” she said, grinning and raising her eyebrows. I rolled my eyes. “Nothing. She cried. Broke the door. That’s it.” They looked at each other, clearly wanting more details. “Did she kiss you back?” one of them asked. I narrowed my eyes. “One more question and I swear I’ll drag you all to detention with me.” Awkward laughs. They got the message. Ved changed the topic, thankfully. “Heimez and I are going grocery shopping later—snacks and drinks. You guys wanna come?” I glanced at Heimez, who just nodded quietly. I had nothing else planned, so why not? “Can’t—family dinner,” Sky said while munching on fries. I snorted. “You have a family? I thought you were raised by cats or something.” “Shut up,” Sky grinned. “I’m in,” I said, standing up. “See you two later, bitches.”
