Chapter 07.02: The Pioneers

After the exclusive meeting, Thomas was left in the company while the Fontaine siblings went straight home to their condominium. However, they don't know where Sebastian, who always has his own world, went.
Val's time was wasted on only two things: to womanize or to spend his time in their condominium’s angular aquarium swimming pool that has a glass wall design in an angular shape, perfect for an indoor swimming pool.
The Pioneers had spent almost half a year in Denmark in terms of business, for Denmark was known as the no. 1 in Europe and No. 4 in the world for ease of doing business. World Spectrum Enterprises, Inc. is definitely not missing the opportunity to be among the businesses getting involved in this country when it comes to investment.
After a few swimming routines, Val rested for a few minutes as he laid down on one of the pool chaise lounge chairs. His face never loses its heavenly smile because of the many messages he receives from different women that he once tasted.
“Be zankful I didn't tell Tom and Seb about your irresponsibility for being followed by zose mistresses of yours.”
Val stopped browsing the phone and looked at Katerina, wearing a Manhattan Black strappy halter V-neckline bikini top with ruched detailing and low rise strappy string bikini bottom. He couldn’t avoid looking at her body with a chest of 40 inches, waist in 24.4 inches, and hip in 36.2 inches.
Val cleared his throat as he went back to his phone. “What made you call zem my mistresses? I have no wife. I have never been married.”
Katerina approached the table near Val and took a piece of grape from its cluster. She stands there for the meantime in the middle of having a pleasant conversation with her brother.
“It’s because you don't want to get married,” she said.
“Would you like me to?” Val questioned her as they got to stare at each other.
Katerina smirked at him before walking towards the pool ledge. A maid approached Katerina and handed her a sunscreen lotion. She took it before the maid left them.
“You’re over 40, but you still don’t zink about stability. Zat could be ze reason papa doesn’t come home because he doesn’t want to see ze irresponsible actions of his firstborn.”
Being straightforward was already the habit of Katerina, and she doesn’t care if she’s already hurting other people’s feelings. The important thing to her was that she can say what she wants to say, even if the result will be to her detriment.
She laughed with a mock. “Maybe papa is just wondering which of us really deserves to be treated as the firstborn.”
Katerina continued to squeeze the lotion out of the tube and was about to rub it on her skin when someone suddenly stopped and held her right hand. She glanced behind her and Val was standing right behind her, his body in closed contact with hers.
They look at each other, and by just looking, they can already understand what the other one has to say. Val scooped out the lotion from his sister’s right palm before rubbing it in between his palms, and then gently applied it to her arms.
Silence had surrounded them as Val continued to apply the right amount of lotion on various parts of Katerina's body, even on her back. Right after the application on her back, he grabbed her by her waist, turned her around to make her face him and suddenly pulled her closer to him with 2 feet distance in between.
“I just want to remind you, my dearest sister,” Val whispered to her face to face. “Not because I allowed you to let go of ze courtesy between the two of us, you’ll get to insult me like how you usually treat ze guys you have fucked before.”
"What makes you think you're different from zem? Sometimes I come to think of considering competing with you when it comes to fucking some horny assholes if bored." Katerina laughed while imagining what she was saying.
Val continued applying the lotion on Katerina's upper chest, almost reaching her cleavage. She doesn't even care whether someone will touch her anywhere on her body.
"Just make sure zat no matter how many la verge would go inside zat flaming lips of yours down zere, you won't fall into zeir bullshit traps of saying zey're already in love with you," Val warned her.
Katerina stared into her brother's eyes before she immediately grabbed his hand that was about to reach her right breast.
"I don't deal with love, brother," she said.
They stared at each other for a few seconds before Katerina approached him for a kiss on the lips. As they closed their eyes, they kissed each other with tongue, passionately. They’re not even moving an inch from their stance, although they’re already into the mouth-to-mouth action.
Val couldn’t help but to hold his sister’s nape to support her neck as they continued to French kiss each other, almost licking each other’s mouth like dogs. Until Katerina opened her eyes and bit her brother’s lips, causing the other to withdraw from their by-the-pool make-out session.
“What ze fuck, Katerina?!” Val exclaimed in pain as he covered his bleeding lips and glared at his sister.
“You are not papa and we are not actual blood relatives, so you have no right to tell me what I should do. Remember zat, Ekarius.” Katerina glared at Val before she finally left the pool area.
Val didn't think that until they were older, Katerina would never forget their father's sin.
Katerina is the daughter of Val’s father to its mistress, who apparently still wasn’t considered being a second wife. Val accepted this incident even though it was the reason his mother, who was the first wife of his father, had left them when he was still young.
He never thought Katerina would be the one who could not accept him as their father's legitimate child. The hate she’s been keeping for almost 35 years will never, ever be erased.
By the end of the day, Val thought of going to his family-owned bar to unwind. You wouldn’t think that someone like him is still having trouble at this time and with the state of life as a wealthy person.
When he arrived at the bar he did not expect to see Sebastian there. He was sitting on the bar stool facing the bar counter, holding a shot glass of Sazerac. Val approached his friend and sat down next to him.
“So, zis is ze place where I can find you." Val smirked as he gestured at the bartender. “One Negroni.”
“Are you tired of your life, that's why you are here?” Sebastian took a quick but straight shot of his Sazerac.
“I don’t zink I am tired of life. I am enjoying it,” Val said.
Val's drink arrived and so did Sebastian's second shot of Sazerac.
“How long do you zink you should understand ze situation of someone who hates you because you are ze legal child in ze family?” Val suddenly opened up such a topic.
Sebastian straightly drank his shot glass of Sazerac. “Did you and Katerina have a fight again?”
“Can you just answer ze goddamn question, Seb?” Both Val and Sebastian laughed at each other.
“If you love that person, you will not get tired of understanding them.”
“How about you and Tom?” Val glanced at him while Sebastian remained looking in front.
“Our situation is much more complicated than yours, for which I will never recognize him as a blood relative. I will never do that just to say my life is completed and fixed, after my mother died," Sebastian said.
Val sighed while listening and trying to play with his shot glass.
“I’m a man. I love women. I love sex. But I can’t quite fathom why our fathers chose to have a family that has two wives.” Val drank his liquor.
“They will indulge in their lust, then once a problem arises, their children will carry their guilt for the rest of their lives.”
Sebastian took his last shot of his drink. "And that’s the way men fuck up other people’s lives.”
It wasn't long before the two of them started conversing, talking about life, when the bartender suddenly served a dry martini with lemon twist in front of Sebastian.
Both men glanced at the bartender and questioned the latter.
“I didn’t order any dry martini tonight," Sebastian said.
“Could zis be an in-house drink?” Val asked the bartender.
“No. Someone else ordered this for your, sir.” The bartender referred to Sebastian before pointing on someone from the other side of the bar counter.
Sebastian could not figure out who the bartender was pointing to and out of no interest, he did not touch the cocktail glass of the dry martini.
“You can have it, Val. I’m good with two shot glasses of my earlier drink," Sebastian told his friend.
Val didn’t hesitate to take the drink. "I’m so glad to be your friend. Merci!”
Sebastian smiled at him before trying to search around for the person who sent him a glass of dry martini. That kind of approach from someone who doesn't reveal themselves is not as friendly and safe as what others may think. That’s what he at least thought about.
