The night after Taeyeon broke down she suddenly disappear and no one can get a hold of her. Even her staffs at the cafe don’t know where she is either.
In the group chat they are trying to have an update
Sunny: Kid any update?
Sooyoung: She didn’t left any notes when she left my apartment
Hyoyeon: Yoona,Yuri and I went to the cafe but she is still not coming to work according to her staffs
Sunny: Did anyone checked the playground?
Seohyun: I already went there and according to Mr.Lee she haven’t been there
Yuri: Guys…
Sunny: What is it Yul?
Yuri: Tiffany is here. She’s reading our conversation
Sooyoung: What?
They check and she is really reading their conversation
Tiffany: I’m here. Tell me now what happened to Taeyeon
Sunny: Wht don’t you first tell us what happen to you
Yuri: Sunny stop
Sunny: I am just asking her
TIffany: Please just tell me where she is and what is going on with her
Sunny: Now you are concern about her and yet you didn’t care about her when you just left her waiting for nothing and left her when she needed you the most
Seohyun: Unnie, no
Sunny: I’m sorry
Tiffany: Can we all meet and talk about this
Sooyoung: Where are you?
Tiffany: I just landed 30 minutes ago
Flashback
“Hello”
‘What happened to her? Is she okay? Sooyoung talk to me. Hey!”
Tiffany didn’t feel good about that phone call. It is very odd for Sooyoung to let Taeyeon use her phone to call her.
She knew there is a deep meaning to it and there is something that they are hiding from her.
When Sooyoung calls her she is having a breakfast with her dad and nickhun.
As soon as the call ended she immediately booked the first flight back to korea
“Stephanie where are you going?” Mr.Hwang ask her
“I am going back to korea”
“No you don’t. Your wedding is in 3 weeks. You need to stay here”
“They need me. She needs me, dad”
“I told you to forget about her. She is not good for you”
“Just let me see her dad. I will be back before that wedding”
Tiffany run to her room to pack her things and she doesn’t care about her dad anymore. All she is thinking is Taeyeon.
“Nickhun you should follow her. I don’t feel good about this”
“Yes, dad. I will just clear all my schedule before I fly there”
Tiffany left their house without saying goodbye to her dad nor to Nickhun. She just wanted to runaway from them and be with the person that she is longing.
They all meet 2 days after Tiffany arrived. It wasn’t the way Tiffany expected to meet them.
“Hi!” She greeted them but only Seohyun and Sooyoung greeted her back “Let’s order. What do you want to eat?”
“Just order anything” Sunny coldly tells her. Of out everyone Sunny is the one who is very mad at her for what she had done to Taeyeon.
“Fany unnie”
“Yes,Seo”
“How are you?” Seohyun ask the question she hated the most because ever since she left she is never okay and she will never be okay until she have her life back away form her dad
“I’m okay” Tiffany answer giving her a fake smile that Seohyun didn’t buy.
“Unnie, I am asking you. How are you? Really?”
All eyes are on her who is trying to think of an alibi. She is not yet ready to tell them the truth
“I’m really fine. Let’s talk about Taeyeon”
“What do you want to know about her?” Surprisingly Hyoyeon speaks and it is very rare for her to be that serious
“That night. The phone call. I know she’s crying. I wanna know why?”
“Oh that night. How can I say it in a simple way” Hyoyeon uses her sarcastic tone “First, Taeyeon and Sooyoung are not in good terms because of you. Taeyeon hates her for not telling her about you.
“Second, she walks out of our dinner. Went to the playground. Drank 15 can of beer. Third, we just saw her crying for the first time after 5 years. Lastly we just saw how she kneel in front of Sooyoung begging to hear your voice and now we can’t find her”
Tiffany is hurting knowing how much pain she had causes Taeyeon. The pain that she inflicted on her is not what she wanted for her.
Tiffany let her tears fall. She hated herself for causing it
“D-did you check her house?”
“Unnie the thing is we don’t know where she lives. She left her apartment after her…”
“Yoong no” Yuri stops her before she accidentally tell her something that she shouldn’t “Look, taeyeon didn’t tell us where she lives. She will randomly disappear then will show up every Friday then disappear again”
Tiffany can sense something that they are hiding from her and that they will not tell her either. For them, whatever that is, they will protect Taeyeon from anyone including her.
“Is there something that you are not telling me? Did something happened to her that you don’t want me to know?”
No one dared to speak even Sooyoung kept her mouth shut
“Kids, back to work. Update the group chat if you see her” Sunny suddenly speak up and prepare to leave that makes the other follow her too
“Fany, we are not in the position to tell you and only Taeyeon can do that. I’m sorry. Join us on Friday” Sooyoung says before leaving her
Tiffany decided to walk around the street that she haven’t seen for a long time. She recognizes some store and some she didn’t recognizes.
At the corner of the street she saw a pink store. As a pink lover that she is, she went there only to find out that it was a cafe
The cafe name sounds familiar to her ‘Pink Monster’. the outside of the store is all pink but the inside is filled with blue and gray with a little touch of pink.
She saw the menu and it is very familiar to her too
“Hello. Welcome to Pink Monster. What would you like to order?”
“Oh Hi. May I know what’s your best seller?”
“The Black tea Lemonade is our best seller but our house specialty is the strawberry smoothies. Then our cheesecake and cookies” The staff politely answer her
“Okay, I would like to try all those” Tiffany orders. She waited at the table wit her eyes roaming around the cafe. It was not that too big and not that small either. There is only 2 staffs around so she wonders how they can manage to work things out.
“Thank you for waiting. Here are your order. I hope you will enjoy it. If you still need anything you can just call me or my buddy”
“Thank you
Tiffany took a bite of the cheesecake and it taste familiar. She then tries the cookies then the lemonade. Everything is shouting Taeyeon in her head.
“Key! Minho!” Tiffany turn her head to the counter. She knows that voice. She can’t be mistaken
“Noona, why?”
“I am done baking. Who can wash the dishes and then can take a break. I’ll take your position”
“Minho will do that. Besides he haven’t had lunch yet”
“Okay Minho. I’ll take your position”
Tiffany is waiting to see the owner of that voice. Her heart is acing. Few minutes later she saw Taeyeon walking to the counter.
Seeing her after 5 years, she should be running to her. But not when she is looking so tired, pale and skinny. It was not like how she left her 5 years ago.
“Boo, what happened to you” Tiffany whisper to herself and wipe the tears in her eyes.
She puts her glasses on and left the cafe. She can’t see Taeyeon like that. Her heart can’t afford to see her like that.
Outside the cafe, she left a message on their group chat
Tiffany: I saw her at the pink monster cafe
Sunny: Did she saw you?
Tiffany: No
Sooyoung: That’s good. Don’t let her see you for the meantime
Yuri: Not now. She’s still not stable
Tiffany can’t do anything but to wait. She wanted to run to her, hug her, kiss her. But there is nothing that she can offer her not when her hands are tied. She needs someone to free her.
Friday night came. They are hoping for Taeyeon to join them. She always find time to meet them.
“Fany, please don’t force her okay” Sunny reminded her. They all decided to let the two meet again after 5 years.
Tifany is nervous. She don’t know what she will do the moment she will finally she her again.
“Hi guys” she hear her sweet voice that makes her friends look at her
“Unnie, you okay now?” Seohyun worriedly ask her
“Yes,Seo. Let’s eat now”
Taeyeon started eating her foods like she always does. She is still not realizing that Tiffany is tearfully looking at her.
“Sunny is it okay if I delay your payment. There is some problems going on in the cafe”
When Taeyeon started her cafe, Sunny offers to lend her money to start her business. Taeyeon accepted it in return that she will pay her in installment. Eventhough Sunny doesn’t want it but still she unwillingly accepted it so that Taeyeon will not refuse her offers
“Don’t worry Taeng. Just pay whenever you can. I don’t mind”
Taeyeon smiles at her “Seo, can you pass me the sauce please” She ask without looking at her friend as she continue to eat her foods
“Tae, here” Tiffany tell her. Everyone is holding their breath.
“Thanks, Seo…Tiffany?” Taeyeon’s eyes widen the moment her eyes met with Tiffany. The person that she is waiting and the person who promise her of forever when she comes back.
But her eyes landed on the big diamond ring on her finger
“Tae, how are you?” Tiffany ask while lovingly looking at her
“Fine” That tone. It was a dangerous tone. Knowing Taeyeon, she will never use that especially not when she is talking with Tiffany
They all look to each other, it wasn’t what they expect from Taeyeon.
Taeyeon put down her chopsticks “How about you, how are you? I bet you’re doing very well. I wonder how my shabby gold promise ring became a big shiny diamond ring after 5 years”
Tiffany realizes her mistake. She forgot to take her engagement ring off her finger. She saw the anger in everyone’s eyes
“Let me explain Tae” She stand up when she saw Taeyeon is about to leave
“There’s no need. I understand” Taeyeon sadly tells her.
Tiffany is about to speak when she felt a hand on the small back of her. She turn around and saw nickhun
“I knew it was you”
“What are you doing here!” Tiffany angrily ask him
“Why? I just miss my fiancee. Is that wrong?” Nickhun arrogantly tells her before looking at her friends “Hi everyone. You all must be her friends. Nice to finally meet you. I hope you all have time to fly to LA next week for our wedding”
“What are you talking about?”
“Our wedding was move next week. Didn’t your dad tell you that he changed the date”
Everyone is shocked. They are not expecting that. All along they thought that she went back to patch things up with her and Taeyeon but it was the opposite
“Taetae, don’t listen to him. Let me explain” Tiffany is begging her when she saw the hurt and anger in her eyes
“No need Tiffany. Congratulations. I am happy for you. I’m sorry I can’t celebrate with you tonight. I need to go somewhere” Taeyeon tells her before walking in front of Nickhun and shakes his hand
“Congratulations. Please take care of my friend” Taeyeon said that makes Tiffany cry. Telling him that she was just her friend is really not what she expected from her
“I have to go. Yul, can I ask a favor”
“Sure what’s up”
“Can you look after the cafe for like 1 or 2 weeks?” they all started calling her name but she doesn’t want to listen to either of them
“No problem. But make sure to return, Taeng” Taeyeon weekly smile at her and started walking to the exit when Tiffany grab her arm
“Where are you going, Tae?” Taeyeon push her hand away from her
“I will get rid of things that I don’t need to hold on anymore. You can celebrate tonight. Don’t worry non of you will get a call from Mr.Lee. Bye guys!
“Unnie!”
“Taeyeon” They call her trying to stop her
“Unnie, we trusted you. We thought that you can save her. But we are wrong. You just destroy her even more” Hearing that from Seohyun is the last thing Tiffany wanted to happen. Because it hurts even more
They all left trying to catch Taeyeon. The moment all of them are out of the restaurant, Tiffany slap him hard on the face that caught the attention of the other customer
“Are you and daddy happy now? You two should be celebrating right now! You just saw how I lose all the people that I love”
“Tiff, it’s not like that. It wasn’t what we wanted to happen” Nickhun tries to hold her hands but she is quick enough to push him away
“Fuck off. Just tell dad to fuck off. I am done with everything. Just get the hell out of my life!”
Tiffany had no where to go. She has no one. The only thing that she wants is to be wrap in Taeyeon’s arms. The one who truly know her.
She’s walking aimlessly and the next thing she knows is that she’s outside Sunny’s house.
Tiffany knocked on door wishing that Sunny could gave her a hand that she could hold.
“What are you doing here?” Sunny ask the moment she opens the door and revealing a crying Tiffany
When the door opens Tiffany jumps to hug Sunny. she needed that. A hug that can make her feel the warmth of someone who she knew really knows her.
“Fany, what is really happening to you? You wouldn’t be like this”
“I don’t know what to do anymore Sunny” Tiffany says and she cries even more that stunned Sunny
“You have to tell us what happened to you in those years that you disappears. Because if not, Fany I’m sorry but we will everything for you and Taeyeon to never meet again. You know how protective I am of Taeyeon”
Tiffany panic. That is the not what she wanted to happen. All those years she just wanted to be with Taeyeon, to stay beside her.
“Sunny no. Please don’t do that. You all know how much I love her”
“No we don’t anymore. If you love her you will not break all your promises to her. If you love her you should be the one beside her during the hardest time of her life. If you love her you wouldn’t keep her waiting for nothing”
“My dad! This is all because of my dad. He locked me inside our house. Hide my passport. Freeze all my accounts. Deleted all my contacts. He ask me to choose Sunny. I can’t choose between him and Taeyeon. I love him. I love my family. But I also love Taeyeon as much as I love them all. I can’t escape. Then that fucking engagement. I don’t know what to do anymore. My hands are tied sunny. I don’t wanna lose Taeyeon. She’s everything to me. But I don’t wanna her hurt too”
Tiffany finally found someone who she can share her agony with. She is desperate. She is torn. Will she let go of Taeyeon or she will try one more time to convinve her dad
Sunny tighten her hold on Tiffany. Now that she knows her reasons, she can understand that both of them are suffering.
“Try to talk to your dad again. Explain to him. Tell him everything that you haven’t told him. Then let’s wait for Taeyeon”
“What really happened to her? Did something happened to her that makes her like how she is right now?”
“I am not in the position to tell you. Only Taeyeon can tell you because we promised her. But all I can say is she’s not the Taeyeon that you knew, that we all knew. She lost everything. Like everything. Goodnight Fany. You can use the guest room”
Tiffany wanted to ask more but she saw Sunny won’t be breaking that promise any moment.
The more they tell her about that is the more she wanted to run to Taeyeon and ask her everything she needed to know.
Both of them has a lot to talk about. And she knows that Taeyeon deserves to know everything.
A week passed by with no sign of Taeyeon. They all went to all the places that they knew she will go but they failed to locate her still.
Friday night. They still continue their Friday night out hoping that Taeyeon will finally show up
“Guys what are we gonna do if she will not show up tonight” Hyoyeon says. She might be the one fooling around all the time but she is truly concern to her friend well being
‘Let’s just pray that she will be here because I don’t know either what to do with her anymore” Sunny sigh dejectedly
Sooyoung saw how quiet and sad Tiffany since she’s back in Korea. This is not what she expected from her cheerful and loud friend
“Are you okay?” She ask but Tiffany just gave he a faint smile. All her friends is also feeling about her
They waited for Taeyeon. None of them dare to speak. The waiter is not sure if they are the same group of friends that was always there during Friday. He always see them happily talking and laughing but that night it was not.
“Hi” a familiar voice that makes them also cry. Taeyeon hug her friends one by one except for Tiffany who she just tap on the shoulder
“Where have you been Kim Taeyeon?” Sunny angrily as her because she looks so pale,skinnier,and her eyes has no soul. Her dark eye bags shows that she haven’t had a good sleep
“At the apartment” Taeyeon casually answer them “Don’t worry I am not trying to kill myself okay coz that’s bad. But a natural death is not” Taeyeon tries to joke but her friends didn’t find it funny
“Taetae, don’t say that” Tiffany pleased but Taeyeon pretends that she didn’t hear her as she started eating her foods
“Taeng, about the cafe” Yuri is hesitating if still tell her or not but she knows how important that cafe for Taeyeon
Taeyeon stops eating and face yuri with a smile “Don’t worry. I will take over starting tomorrow. Thanks for helping me out”
“It’s not about that”
“Then what is it”
“Your landlord came this morning. He told me that his raising the rent with 30% more of your current rent. Taeng I saw your record, you can’t afford to pay it” Yuri doesn’t know what will Taeyeon do about it. She can’t afford to suggest to close it because it will greatly affect her.
Taeyeon finishes her meal and like what she always do, she wanted to leave that instant. She can’t let them see her emotions, she wanted to stay strong even that night only.
“Thank Yul. I will find a way” Taeyeon calmly answer
“Unnie, if you need help you can just always call me anytime” Seohyun offer
“Guys, I appreciate that you wanted to help me. But let me handle this. I will try to find a way. I can’t lose my cafe. You know that’s all that I have”
Taeyeon waved them goodbye but before she can go Tiffany block her way
“Excuse me, please step aside I have to go”
“Not until you look at me” Tiffany is desperate.
Taeyeon look at her her straight into her eyes like it was nothing for her “There. Happy now. Can I go now, please”
“Can we just talk,Tae”
Taeyeon just stare at her then saw the person she hates the most walking in their direction
“No, your dad and fiancee is here now” She says that makes all of them look to where Taeyeon is staring
Mr.Hwang and Nickhun is angrily walking towards them. It seems like they are not happy seeing Tiffany with Taeyeon.
“Stephanie!”
Instead of look at her dad, Tiffany grabs Taeyeon and kiss her hard. Taeyeon were stunned by what she did. She can’t move, she can’t think properly until Tiffany whisper to her
“Kiss me please” like she was hypnotized by her, Taeyeon responded to her kiss. She misses that lips but she knows that Tiffany belongs to another man already so she break the kiss.
The moment Tiffany turn her head to face her dad, a hard slap landed on her
“How dare you disobey your father. Let’s go now whether you like it or not we will go home tonight”
Mr.Hwang firmly tell her daughter who is helpless in front of her still holding her face that he just slapped. Nickhun tries to grab her away from Taeyeon
“Don’t touch me” Tiffany yell at him that anger Mr.Hwang even more
“Fany-ah” She hear it again. Tiffany tearfully face Taeyeon “Just go with them”
“I don’t want to leave you again, Tae”
“The taeyeon that you love is gone. The Taeyeon in front of you is no longer the one that you knew. I don’t have anything to offer you. I am broken. There is nothing left for me to give you. Just go with them. Listen to your dad. I am letting you go now”
Tiffany hug her tight not wanting to let her go. They both cry in each others arm. Practically both are hurting but don’t want to hurt each other anymore
“No taetae. don’t. Please don’t give up on us. Please I love you so much Taeyeon. Please..”
“Goodbye Tiffany” Taeyeon break their hug and run away leaving the crying Tiffany
Their friends are crying too. They know how much the two love each other and seeing one of them finally let go is hard for them also.
“Is this want you want dad?! are you happy now!” Tiffany hysterically yell at her dad. They never see her like that especially not to her dad.
“Steph, listen to me. I just want to the best for you”
“No you don’t. it’s for your own good. I am done with keeping up with you dad. I am choosing Taeyeon. I don’t care what you will. I am choosing the person that I love and the one who really understand me. I am no longer you daughter” Tiffany says as she throw the engagement ring back to Nickhun before running away from them trying to catch Taeyeon
Tiffany spotted her dad’s car and went to grab all her belonging before hailing a cab disappearing from all her friends.
