Chapter 1 – Unexpected Visitors

Veera’s POV
The rumble of a loud thunderbolt echoes on the serene corner of the mansion as the rain continues to pour down, outside of the property a lady carrying a single flashlight walks quietly down the dark passage softly as her body cowers in terror hearing the crackling noise that the lightning is producing outdoors.
As the woman felt a cold air travel through her body, she hugged herself to provide heat in her chilled body as she walked towards the room. Suddenly, there was a loud thunderbolt with flashes, causing the lady to scream in fright, which echoed throughout the house, and she instantly dropped to the floor, closing her eyes and protectively covering herself with her arms as a reaction.
'Damn thunder, it frightened the hell out of me! I thought I was going to die!' 'When I was convinced that my surroundings were secure, I instantly rose up from my seat on the floor, but as I looked up, there was a powerful thunderbolt that struck, but I was more stunned to find two silhouette bodies with eyes that resembled werewolf eyes in front of me. Because of the terror that gripped my entire body, my body froze. I heard a rumour going around the city about wolves breaking into houses at night hunting for tasty prey to eat in their famished stomachs. What I mean by wolves is wolves who change into human beings and appear to be kind in the morning, but when they got hungry, they converted back into wolves.
I'm about to get devoured right now.
I wanted to speak, but my tongue wouldn't let me because of the pressure those two eyes are exerting on me; it's as if they're warning me that if I say a single word, they'll slaughter me instantaneously and without hesitation.
"You," both silhouettes spoke coldly to me at the same moment the thunderbolt struck again, making me even more terrified by the effect it had.
“W-who? " I pretended I didn't understand what they were saying and stuttering to get that one word out.
Both of them raise their arm and pointed at me, which made my heart beat crazily in fear, just calm down self if they want to eat me I will just them lose their appetite that could work right? Right?!
“M-me? But I'm not very tasty to eat! "I shouted to them.
They even gazed at me with fierce eyes, causing me to swallow my saliva in my throat. "I-I am stating the truth! " I appealed to them once more.
"You don't even seem appetizing to us," they said, not thinking of me as food.
When I heard it, I exhaled in relief, 'Thank God I'm going to be alive.' Then why did they break into my house if they don't consider me as food?
"Why are you inside my house if I'm not tasty?" I inquired, feeling my uneasiness resurface.
"We," the two of them said again in unison.
“We? " I'm also paying attention to what they're saying, anticipating the continuation of their phrase.
"We are here because..." they said again, without finishing their statement.
Making me nervous about what they're going to say next. I can see both Silhouettes looking at each other for a few seconds before turning back to face me. My pulse was pounding furiously, as if it was warning me that the next few words, they'd speak would not be pleasant.
“Y-yes? " I encourage them to finish their sentence.
"Because Fa-" Before they could finish their statement, someone turned on the lights, which interrupted them and stunned the three of us.
"Miss Veera?" I hear a familiar voice calling my name.
I turned to see where the voice was coming from and saw Mrs. Payne, who had just awoken from a deep slumber and was staring at us with a puzzled expression.
“Mrs. Pyane Be careful l, there is a burglar on the mansion, and it is a wolf-shifting human! " I alerted Mrs. Payne of the impending danger.
Mrs. Payne chuckled at my warning, "What are you saying Dear, those are only children, you watch too many Twilight movies that it is affecting your mind," Mrs. Payne reprimanded me, not believing what I said.
"What exactly do you mean, kids? Believe me, it's-" I returned my gaze to the two silhouettes and didn't finish my sentence because it was, in fact, two 10-year-old children in front of me.
How is that even possible?! I clearly saw their wolfy eyes just a few minutes ago! But now it was just plain brown eyes. Is it just because I watch Twilight movies that I'm influenced? I can't help but be addicted to the character Jacob Black, a very handsome wolf from the Twilight movie series.
"Dear, what were you saying? " Mrs. Payne wondered, teasingly.
I can feel my face blushing and I just cleared my throat, "Anyway, why did you force entry on my property, hmm?" " I inquired of the two children in front of me, who had gone silent.
They looked at me again, this time with a serious expression on their faces. "Father told us to come and look for you Veera Estrella Nacht," they said together.
“Huh? What is your father's name? I don't think I know him, though," I responded back.
Both kids exchanged glances before returning to stare at me. "Father clearly told us to go and find you, and he also told us that if no one hears us knocking, we should break the nearest window and force our way inside," they stated.
What kind of father teaches their child to break someone else house?! He sure needs to be scolded on teaching that bad method to his kids.
"Oh, what amazing tips your father gave you children," Mrs. Payne added a comment applauding the children's father.
“Mrs. Payne! " I reprimanded her.
Mrs. Payne didn't seem scared when I reprimanded her; instead, she smiled at me and said, "Well, if their father hadn't advised them on breaking a window, they might have stayed all night outside while it rained until morning and died as a result." Payne explained why the father of the children told his children to do such a thing.
Okay, I understand why, but teaching something about breaking into someone else's house to a 10-year-old child is not a good idea.
"F-Father also told us that what we're about to do is bad and that we shouldn't do it again, but we're just going to do it because it's necessary," they both said again.
Okay, I'll praise him for telling his children that what they're about to do is wrong and that they must not do it again. "Anyway, you still didn't tell what your father's name is, kids," I questioned again.
"Our father's name is-" They were about to tell us their father's name when we all noticed the girl fainting in front of us on the floor.
"AC, GET UP! " The boy demanded that the girl wake up while holding her sleeping body against his body.
I rush over to the girl, who is now unconscious on the floor, and the boy slaps my hands away when I try to touch her forehead, glaring at me in warning.
"What are you trying to do with my sister?! " He glared angrily at me, still trying to threaten me with his eyes.
But I was not feeling sacred on the glare the boy is looking at me its not the same glare I saw minutes ago “I am going to check her heat; I won’t do anything at your sister I promise” I said telling the boy my intentions.
"They also told us they wouldn't harm our family, but they did!" 'The boy replied to me in a chilly, angry manner, securely clutching his sister's body in his embrace.
I can see there are more hidden meaning in the words that child said towards me as much as I want to know what it is, its not the time for it there are important things I need to focus more right now.
"I promise to you I will not harm you or your sister this big sister will promise in her life if I go back to promise you can murder me," I said with sincere intentions to the boy.
The boy stares at my face, carefully considering what I had said to him, and when he realizes I am not lying, he relaxes his protective embrace around her sister. I slowly place my hands on the girl's forehead to see how hot her forehead is.
“Mrs. Payne, please fetch some cloths and cold water for her; she has a fever! " I quickly told Mrs. Payne to go grab some cold water and towels.
“Okay Miss Veera” Mrs. Payne responded and quickly went to get the things I ordered.
We quickly walked upstairs to my room to lay the Girl, who was still asleep, in my bed, and Mrs. Payne handed me the items I had requested. I swiftly begin wiping the forehead of the girl in front of me who was suffering from a fever, while her brother sits by her, worriedly clutching his sister's hand.
Morning arrived, and the girl's fever had finally reduced, and she was sleeping blissfully with his brother by her side, who was still clutching its hand. I'm not sure where these two kids came from or who their parents are, but from what I saw last night, these kids had been through whatever had happened to them before they came to me.
"Miss, you should rest already; the kids are good, so I'll care for them," Mrs. Payne remarked, volunteering to look for the kids while I rested.
"Okay, Mrs. Payne, wake me up if something happens," I told her.
Mrs. Payne nodded in answer, and I walked to another room to make up on the sleep I had lost while caring for the girl.
The next moment I opened my eyes, I was in a deep forest, gazing around as if I was seeking something, although I had no idea what I was looking for in the areaAs I continued to glance around the forest, I observed something in the distance that piqued my interest.
I took a step forward toward the person who had caught something in my eye, and as I got closer, something came out, forcing me to take a step back in my back.
When I saw what had sprung out of the bushes, my entire body stiffened, and there was a large brown-haired Wolf gazing at me with concern in its eyes.
"Please take care of them, I ask you," the large brown-haired wolf said, pleading with me to look after things for her.
I was startled and bewildered at the same time; I wanted to respond to the wolf but couldn't move my mouth. I'd want to ask her what she meant about them, but I'm having difficulties speaking.
“Please protect our kids Veera” A familiar voice that I thought had forgotten about it already.
I turned to see where the sound was coming from and saw a familiar man whose lovely face caused my tears to flood in anguish.
"Wait, why right now?! " I had to push myself to talk.
Why are you appearing in my dreams right now? When I begged for ten years to see you in my dreams. Why!
“Please protect and take care of our kids in our stead Veera” He said again with sadness in his eyes while looking at me.
He was standing next to the large brown wolf, that had the same anguish in its eyes as mine, making my tears overflow.
"Please tell me where you've been all these years!" " I asked again, this time yelling aggressively at him as my tears flowed.
"Please...take care of them," he whispered again in hushed tones, and I noticed his face fade away in front of me.
NO DON’T LEAVE PLEASE! NO!
