Chapter 4: The Mishap

Aerin laid flat on her bed, motionless and miserable. Her room in a dull light suddenly float around like a boat making her sick in the stomach. Those ceiling lights looks a bit blurry and everything is spinning as she gets a sight of another bottles of beer on a nearby table.
"Oh! Another drink?? I'm ‘bout’a get hammered! Hyeon Jiah where you at?” she laughs.
Aerin stood up and her head wobbles but managed to grab the bottle. She took a continuous gulp, completely finishing it in seconds, as she stared on the things that she had wrote on her screen.
She's been gatekeeping the damaging article for days and one tap will surely make a radical change. It's either her or the artist, and figuratively speaking, it is her who will suffer the most, hence, the inhibition.
MY NASTY ENCOUNTER WITH ENHYPEN'S CENTER, THE SELFISH PRICK, LEE HEESEUNG
Those captions spells destruction and much more the things that comes next to it. One tap, just one tap. It's either she make it or break it. But again, she bends her fingers in.
"Aaaah!" Aerin frustratingly shouts.
Aerin cannot count how many times she refreshed her tab, fooling herself that Lee Heeseung would somehow had a change of heart and sends her the needed answers. But it was days already and her inbox greeted her with nothing but deadline notices and spams.
"Don't make me do this, Lee Heeseung. Give me the answers, please. I need it now."
Her emotions is shifting so crazy as she tried to dial Jiah's number. It wasn't long enough that she answered it.
"Aerin? Geez, it's past midnight."
"I screwed up, Jiah." she told her straightly.
"W-What?"
"I literally screwed up. That interview, it-- how do you call it? Bad? Ah, no. It was worst. Hah! Never thought it would go off the course!" Aerin spattered words like crazy.
"It was what?! I thought it ended well. You told me, right?"
"It didn't go as planned." she laughs again in a more jolted manner. "Lee Heeseung declined to be interviewed. What a smug."
"What?! B-But how? I don't understand--"
"I didn't start it." Aerin was fast enough to defend herself. "One thing's for sure, he's a total idiot!"
"Choi Aerin! Did you just-- Wait-- Are you drunk?"
Aerin chuckled a little bit more. "Me? Drunk? No, no. Just trying to doze off." she tried to sound funny but is close to have a breakdown.
"Aerin, listen to me. We can't have a proper conversation right now with your current state. I suggest you go to sleep, let's talk in the morning. I'll help whatever's bothering you, I promise. Just put the phone down and don't do anything nasty. Do you understand?"
Aerin felt a small relief. She ended the call and buried her face under the pillow, as she cursed herself underneath the soft cushion.
Aerin didn't expect that the last bottle will hit her in a different way. Suddenly, her disintegration faded and now she was euphoric. That alcohol was so sweet she wanted to have another one.
She got up, straight to the fridge with her appendages barely under control. Aerin grabbed again another beer and goes back right to her computer. She stood there, unfazed with what she had written. She wasn't born to be reticent but the cold feet is so domineering, she stared on it as she took the booze down without stopping. Aerin choked, face next to her screen.
"Aahh. I give up. You won, Lee Heeseung." Aerin finally backed down.
She failed herself again and Lee Heeseung is defeating her everytime. Aerin deeply sighed as she flung her arms around like dead fish. Having no doubt, she attempted to delete the write up but instead she heard a jangle, it made her jump.
The sound of her keys dropping from the countertop knocked her drink over and spilled it everywhere. Panic stricken and with loss of bodily control, Aerin tried to get ahold of the mainframe not to get soaked, however, she accidentally pressed the danger button. Her eyes grows big in extreme terror as she gets to witness the article being published and is too late to take it back.
"Omo! No, no, no! God, no!"
Aerin felt like her world spins vigorously. How fast her heart to pound and breathing is now hurting her. She's close to having a panic attack as she's fighting with her computer to delete the file.
She found it at last, after a twenty minute battle with internet hurdles, but finds out it cannot be reverted anymore. It already took hundreds of reads, thousands of shares and her inbox flooded like an avalanche.
Aerin was immobilized, shocked and scared to death as her eyes was filled with unending chains of opinions in that damaging article. Her name exploded like a bomb causing catastrophe no one knew was coming.
And just like that, Choi Aerin, a nameless journalist, shook the internet and the K-pop community leaving Lee Heeseung's fans mentally shaken. With that one accidental click, her life made a major turnaround.
She couldn't believe her fate would change that fast. From an unknown magazine writer comes the most depressing word linked to her name. Choi Aerin, the struggling journalist and Lee Heeseung's ruthless hater.

"Y-Yuki? What's the matter?"
Heeseung was confused by the sudden call and decided to end the live unexpectedly. His eyebrows are bumping while trying to guess Yuki's agenda.
"Hee--" their manager let out a heavy sigh.
"I ended the live. What's wrong?"
"Turn your screen on."
Heeseung confusion deepened and his heart thumps fast he couldn't understand. He jolted when he heard a hard knock trying to break his door.
"Hyung! Open up!" Jungwon's voice has annoyance in it.
"What's going on, Yuki?" Heeseung asked again, completely puzzled.
"Is that Won? Let him in. He'll explain everything to you. Better pack your bags now. Your next show is cancelled. You need to go back to Seoul."
"W-What? Hold on--" Heeseung quickly opened the door.
Jungwon stormed inside his room with his face flushed in irritation and Heeseung was so confused by the undisclosed issue.
"Spill it now, Won. There's a problem and it involves me, right?"
The five other members followed inside, his hunch grows a little more scrupulous. Heeseung was bewildered seeing their faces filled with disturbance but neither one of them dared to make a statement.
"Speak now!" Heeseung finally cracked.
Among the members he was the most windless when certain situations occur but having it felt like he was in a plight is taking his balance off it's course. He is agitated way before he learns the truth.
"Hyung--" Sunoo attemped to start.
"You hit the headline." Jungwon finally revealed.
"Like, literally, man." Jake seconded.
"I-I don"t understand--" Heeseung cannot put the puzzle together.
"Someone wrecked you hard." Jay pointed out.
"And bad." Sunghoon added.
"So bad I dropped it after two sentences." Ni-Ki shook his head in disbelief.
Heeseung's brows arched upwards while his jaw hangs slack. The more he's processing it, the more it gets a little shady. In an obvious manner, someone did him dirty. He is unaware what the article is all about while he stood there, unblinking, trying to process what he had just been told.
"Read this." Sunoo took the courage to answer him finally.
Heeseung gulped hard calming his racing heart that's about to burst in extreme tension. It wasn't the first, because everyday he faces backlash from haters but that one, he can feel the danger. He tried to counteract the idea that circling around his head.
No. She did not.
But Heeseung's eyes grew impossibly wide as he took a quick glance on the slandering headline. What's written in there made his veins jolt in terror but reading the writer's name left him more aghast.
CHOI AERIN.
