Amber’s POV

“Hey!!”, I heard my mate’s voice from the other side of the phone. I tried to calm down my stupid heart who had just pounding loudly.
“Hi...Hi Alex”, I said in a low tone. For a while, I didn’t hear anything from the other side. “Hello…you there?”, I asked and looked at the mobile to check whether the call had been disconnected? “Is my voice audible to you?”, I asked again, thinking there would be some network problem.
“Amber”, I heard his husky voice. The voice that made my breathing accelerate again. “Do you know that something just happened?”
“And what is that?”
“I fell in love with my name. When it rolled over lips I felt it it was named to be called by you.”, He said, making me clench my thighs. ‘Boss?’, I heard someone else’s voice near Alex. “I’ll call you later, okay?”, Immediately the tone of Alex changed.
“Okay! Take care of yourself.”, I said with a heavy heart.
“You too.”

Lily made me change into a workout outfit in the evening. Truth to be told, this was the first time I was wearing these clothes. I always used to think that these types of clothes are too tight and would make me feel uncomfortable but I was so wrong about it. I put on a white legging and sports bra underneath a black tank top made of some really light material.
I checked my face in the mirror to find any sign of the slaps which I had gotten last night but thankfully, all the marks and pain had healed already. When I was braiding my hair, I heard a knock on my door.
“Please, Come in.”
“You’re ready?”, Lily asked, entering the room.
“Yeah. I’m.”, I answered and observed that she had also changed her clothes.
“Cool. Come with me.”, She said and took me to the garden which I was admiring in the morning but unlike the morning, it was not guarded with guards. “I don’t want them to see how weak their Boss’s bride is”, Explained Lily as if she read my mind.
“Let’s start then.”, She said, on which I nodded my head like an obedient student. “Run”
“Sorry?”, I asked her in confusion.
“I said RUN.”, She shouted, slightly pushing me toward the garden. I gave her one last look and then started running in the whole garden. After running for approx fifteen minutes, my lungs started giving up. I couldn’t run more than that. Before I could have asked for a small break, my body already gave up and I knelt on the ground, taking a deep breath.
“Poor performance, Amber!”, Lily said, shaking her head in disappointment. “Come on, get up! You’re not getting any break for the next 45 minutes.”
“Please…I can’t.”, I pleaded.
“Either you are going back to your MAID job or you have to do what I am saying.”, She threatened. I didn’t know whether she had the power to go against her brother or not. But I really couldn’t ignore her threat. I would love to die by running or doing whatever Lily would say but I didn’t want to go back to THAT hell.

After running for the next fifteen minutes again, Lily asked me to have a short break for five minutes by observing my expression.
“It’s still not working.”, She muttered. While I was trying to capture as much air as I could because I knew half an hour was still left. “This time, there will be a change when you will run.”, She said on which I raised my head, giving her all my attention.
“You will run to protect yourself.”, She said and paused for a while. “What I meant to say is that, I will run after you and if you will get caught by me then I will hit you.”, She added, widening my eyes.
What?
“And trust me, I am going to hit you damn too hard.”, She said, showing me, her fist. “Now get up! Five minutes break is over.”
I opened my mouth to oppose that idea but she didn’t look like someone who would listen to me. I remembered myself in the situation when Johnathan used to run behind me and I used to run for my life.
“Start”, She yelled and in no moment, I started running for my life.
After a while, I felt her behind me. I got so scared, feeling her so closed to me that I forgot that this was just the training she was giving to me.
All I could think of was to escape from THAT hell and Instead of running in the garden, I started running toward the main gate from where I entered this mansion.
“Amber!! Stop.”
I didn’t want to die, at least not this soon. Right now, I was a doe and the one approaching me was the lion. All I could do was RUN. Run to save my life. I ran as fast as I could. Adrenaline rushed my body like a flood, forcing my legs to run faster and faster.
“Guards! Don’t let her go!!”
Immediately I was surrounded by five guards.

I tried to escape from them but one of them grabbed me. “HELP!! HELP!!”, I screamed. My visions started getting blurry and tears flowed. I screamed again, out of fear, hoping to find some help.
“Let me go! Please let me go!!!”, I kept screaming, crying, begging because I knew I was going to die.
“Leave her.”, I heard a voice but my mind was not working properly. Slowly the grip around my waist started getting loose. “Amber! Amber!! Calm down.”, Someone touched my shoulder and my body suddenly went into attack mode.
I raised my hand to hit that person and she gracefully dodged my attack.
“Amber. It’s me, Lily. You okay?!”, She said worriedly. I realized what I had just done and hurriedly wiped my tears with the help of my shoulders.
“Get back to your positions.”, She ordered, looking at the guards and then looking at me. “We should get back to the room.”, She added to which I nodded meekly.
While we were about to enter the mansion, Ms. Potter reached near us with a worried expression.
“What’s the matter?”
“Boss has called us for more than five times and urgently wants to talk with Ms. Amber.”
“Shit! This’s bad.
