Chapter 7
I’m not on my usual self that day, I don’t know if the CEO noticed it, but he didn’t commented anything about it, maybe he simply doesn’t care? Why would he care right?
I entered the office after the CEO called my name.
“Are you okay?” I was taken aback when the CEO asked me. I don’t know what he is asking about, but it is the first time since forever since someone asked me that question, and he is my boss.
We just finished a meeting and preparing ourselves to leave when we called me. I thought he didn’t notice it. Or maybe I’m just too obvious?
“Yes sir, why?” I ask him in return.
“I’ve been eyeing you for a while now, and I noticed that you don’t look okay” he said while reading some papers.
“You can take your day off tomorrow, since I don’t have much to do, I will not need you” he said while putting the papers on the table.
He gets his bag and walk out of the room. I was stunned on what he just said but feel happy that I can take my day off, I can finally rest my body.
Ever since I got hired in this job, I feel so exhausted every time I went home.
I feel so exhausted on everything. I haven’t seen the Alpha, not that I want to, which made me glad and sad at the same time. Does this mean that everything that happened that night was just nothing to him?
I walk out of the room and get my bag. I will be leaving since the CEO already leaves the company.
I decided to walk since it is not that far from home and I can save some money.
While walking, I thought of my family. I don’t have any news about them or where are they right now. It’s like they’re gone without any traces.
Alpha’s POV
My head hurts like crazy. That is the first thing that I felt when I woke up. I am here on my condo, I went to a bar last night, alone. I don’t know what gets on my head that I did that.
I don’t usually party, it is just a waste of time.
While still eyes closed, I tried to remember the things that I have done while I’m at the bar. I urgently sit when I remembered Maia. I look at the bed to see nothing but a red stain.
“What have I done?” I whispered to myself while pulling my hairs.
I shouldn’t have done that. I have a girlfriend, I don’t want to hurt her.
I lay on the bed while staring at my selling. I know, I already rejected Maia, but there is this feeling that I should keep her.
I love my girlfriend, that is what I know, but I don’t want to hurt her.
I woke up from my revelry when someone knocked on the door, later on I heard my doorbell rang.
I stand up and walk to open the door. I was just wearing my boxer when I open the door and see my Beta waiting for me to let him in.
He bowed to me first for showing respect.
“Alpha” he began talking about the things that happened in the pack house that I should have known while I am away.
“Can I ask you something, Alpha?” he said while looking down.
I just node my head even though he didn’t see that. He keeps his head down while waiting for my answer.
“What is it?” I asked him, giving him a permission to ask me.
Apollo is my friend since we were a child. He was with me when something happened to my family. I may not be showy but I treat him like a brother.
He look at me directly in my eyes, he looks so serious right now that he barely do.
I was stunned for a second, looking at him, his eyes void of any emotions.
“Maia, Maia was here right?” I didn’t expect this kind of question.
I am not surprised that he knew, he has a sharp sense of smell, what I didn’t expected is that he’ll ask me about it.
I didn’t show any emotion on myself, and look at him intently.
“What about it?” I ask him, not really answering his question.
Apollo was a good friend. He acted like a big brother to me. Every time I feel exhausted, he will cheer me up.
“Nothing, just don’t mess up again” he said before leaving my condo.
I remain sitting on the sofa, don’t know what to do next.
I heaved a sigh, there are different possibilities that’s entering my mind. Like what if Maia gets pregnant? What if Alice found out that I cheated on her?
I decided to take a cold shower to at least clear my head ache. I called my maid to clean my room and change the covers.
I was living alone, well except for the pack of course.
My parents died when I was young. They said that they are killed by the people living in the town while other said that they are captive to be experimented. I don’t have any sibling that leaves me alone.
I was busy with my laptop when my phone rings.
“Hello?” I said while still busy scanning a file.
“Baby!” I stop heard Alice on the other line.
Alice is the Daughter of an Alpha of the Canis pack. We’ve been in a relationship for almost six months now.
“Yes?” I asked her. I continued scanning the file while listening to her.
“By the way, are you free tomorrow night?” my eyebrow creased at her question.
“I’ll check my schedule, why?” I ask her again, I stop scanning for a while to give her my attention.
“We will, I mean , we need to attend some party, my father said that you already know about it” she said.
After the call, I checked my schedule. I almost forgot about the party.
The Alpha personally asked me to attend with her daughter and I will be embarrassed if I failed to attend it.
Aside from being an Alpha, I am also a CEO of the company that my parents build before they died.
Because of the party that we need to attend, I work over time.
We’re now here at the venue where the meeting will be held. Alice was wearing a maroon sexy dress. If I was in my normal self, I would say that she look ravishing.
We attended the party with my Beta since he hold a position in my company.
We we’re guided to our table and when we are about to sit, when I saw someone familiar. Very familiar to me.
She looked at our direction, that’s when our eyes lock.
