Chapter 5
I was in my room, just lying on my bed, staring at my celling. Thinking of different what if’s.
It would be easier to fight if it is me and him against the world than to fight alone. I was alone, I don’t have anyone besides me. I don’t have any friends, I don’t have my family. It was like I’m trying to save a person who doesn’t want to be saved in the first place.
I feel so hopeless, I feel so weak.
I hope I can forget everything tomorrow. How can he do that to me? I am his mate, I am his other half.
I started wiping my tears as I get up from my bed. It was already morning, and I didn’t even notice it. I prepare for work without any sleep.
I can attend my work, I’m still functioning, I guess.
“Good morning, Ma’am” the guard greeted me. I can’t greet him back, I’m not in the mood right now, instead I just node my head with a hollow smile on my face.
I headed in my table, I just notice that the office of the CEO is already open. He’s already here.
I knocked three times before finally entering the office.
I’m still pissed off of what he did that day. He could have just told us yesterday about his decision.
“Sir” I called him.
He looks at me straight in the eyes then look at me from head to toe, then back to my eyes. It feels like he was scanning my entire body before he focused on my eyes.
“Are you okay?” he asked me.
I was taken aback with his question but still, I managed to form a smile.
“I am, thank you for your concern” I said to him
I look at his schedule for today, he has a meeting with the investors, a few minutes from now.
“Sir, you have a meeting, at eight o’clock with the investors” I told him.
“The papers that you need for are already here, I already organized it according to the date needed” I said while pointing at the papers in the coffee table.
I leave the office as soon as I finished my duty as his secretary.
I stand when he open the door to leave. I get the things I need before following him.
We’re on our way to the conference room when we bumped with unexpected person. Why do we always meet? I’m trying to avoid him, them.
I saw how his arm snaked on her waist possessively, like someone is trying to steal her from him. I heaved a sigh, that’s when his eyes look at me.
There was shock on his eyes, I look at the floor like there is something more interesting than the person in front of us. I should be the one he’s holding right now, not her. I laughed at myself.
I silently thank my boss when he started walking again. I walk like nothing is bothering me.
We are heading to the conference room where he will be meeting with the investors but all I can think is the man we met earlier with a woman in his arms.
It hurts seeing him with another woman. It would be easier if the woman has an attitude problem, but unluckily the woman has an angelic face and kind.
My boss was already sitting on his chair when the two people enter the room. I am not expecting them to be here. I look at the man who was scanning the room and stop when our eyes met. His hand on her waist worsens the pain that I was feeling since the day that he told me that he has a girlfriend.
The Alpha pulls a chair for his girlfriend and kiss the top of her head afterwards. The woman blushed that makes the Alpha chuckled.
Why am I even watching them?
“Gray” she called him.
I was in awe for a minute or two. It is the first time that I heard his name. It was so unusual that I even stare at them for a while. I turn my gaze when the Alpha looks at me.
They are painfully beautiful to watch.
The meeting finished without me knowing. I’m busy watching the two that I forgot that I was in an important meeting. I am just thankful that I have a record that I can listen later.
I was following the CEO when someone blocked our way. I was busy watching my step that I didn’t notice he stopped so I bumped my head in his shoulder.
I peeped on who was blocking our way when I saw the woman who was with the Alpha earlier. She is so beautiful that she can capture everyone with just her face.
“Let’s talk, please, Lucas?” she pleaded while looking at the CEO intently.
My boss sighs in defeat and look at me.
“You can go first, you can take your early lunch break” he told me before walking back at the conference room.
I don’t know what I should do. I want to follow him but he ordered me to take my lunch break. What I was wondering is why would the woman wants to talk with my boss, where is the Alpha?
I was busy eating my food when someone entered the place. He looks around and stops when he sees me. He walks right away and sits in front of me like I was inviting him to.
“What?” I asked him. I don’t even know what he was doing here. I want some peace of mind but I think I can’t have it.
I got hurt by whatever the Alpha’s doing and got confronted by the Beta. Can they at least give me some alone time where I can think of ways to forget him?
“Nothing, I’m just thinking that you might need some company?” he said while shrugging his shoulder.
Confusion is visible in my face. I just stare at him for a while that makes him uncomfortable.
“You saw them, don’t you?” he blurted out of nowhere.
I was about to answer him when he suddenly stand and walk towards the counter, maybe to order his lunch.
He just asked me something that caught me off guard. I was, again, blankly stare at nowhere. I am busy thinking about the possibilities if I didn’t walk in that forest. Maybe I wouldn’t feel hurt like this. I might have a miserable life but at least, I am not aching because of a man who can’t accept me.
“Hey?” I was out of my revelry when someone snaps his fingers in front of me. I glared at him and smile afterwards.
Apollo was always there when I need someone to talk to. I don’t have any friends but Apollo might be the first one.
“Sorry” I blurted out while looking down at my food.
I haven’t finished even a half of it, but I already lost my appetite.
“You okay?” he asked me, concern is visible in his eyes.
“I saw them” I know even without telling him their names, he would know.
He stayed silent before that. I began eating my food again and he began drinking his coffee. I finished the food faster than I expected so I stand and make my way to the office. That is when I noticed that I will be late if I wouldn’t walk faster.
The Beta just wave at me as if telling me that he would stay there for a while. I didn’t pay much attention on him and started walking towards the building.
Luckily, before the boss arrives at his office I already ready the papers he needed for the afternoon.
