Chapter 4
Days had passed but there’s still no news from my father. I already leave the restaurant, and the owner understands my reason. I’m now looking for a new job, I’ve been applying in different companies but sadly, I never meet their standards.
I’m preparing myself for my last interview for today. I can’t help but to lose all the hopes that I’ve been saving. I don’t have much money, I should have a job for me to keep living.
I stand when a woman call my name. I’m too nervous that you can see my hands shaking. This company is really popular in its industry and it also has a nice salary.
“You may sit” someone told me when I entered the room. The room has a nice interior design but it doesn’t help me to calm. It was so cold in here that makes me more nervous.
I’m now applying for secretary of the CEO, there are 5 person in front of me. The guy in the middle is the CEO, I think. He doesn’t look that strict but he was not smiling while looking at me.
“So, you didn’t finish your college degree?” the woman asks me which made me node. It was in my disadvantage, I know. But I can’t just lie to them, right?
“It’s ok, it’s not a big issue here, what matters is, are you a computer literate?” she asks me again. I know how to use computers and cellphones so I node again.
I am so eager to get this job.
“It’s nice to know, but you don’t have any experience in being a secretary” one of the things they are always telling me is about my lack of experience.
“Honestly, if ever you accept me in this job, it is my first time being a secretary. But I can guarantee you that I will do my very best to fulfill my job” I said a little nervous. The woman node her head and look at the man in the middle.
“Ok” the man stand and started to walk his way out of the room.
I look at the woman in front of me and she just smile.
“You can start tomorrow, you can get your I.D tomorrow at the front desk” she told me.
I was in awe for a minute before I hear her chuckle.
“Better be here before seven, our boss is quite strict” she told me which makes me node.
The boss really look strict and snob. But at least he hired me.
After the interview, I decided to buy some groceries. I don’t have stock of foods in my house.
I was in the supermarket when I noticed a familiar build.
I’m facing the guy’s back so I can’t really tell who he is.
I just shrug my shoulder and start my business here.
“Maia?” I turn my head when someone call name. I was shocked when I saw Apollo walking towards me. I look around hoping that I wouldn’t see his Alpha with him. Or maybe the other way adound.
“Apollo?” I said faking my reaction.
“It was nice seeing you again” I said as he keeps walking towards me.
I hope he won’t notice anything about my reaction
“How are you?” Apollo asked me. I don’t know but my smile faded when he asked me that question.
I, again, fake a smile.
“I’m fi-” my words were cut when I saw a familiar person.
Again, my heart was beating faster and faster as he keeps on walking towards us. His eyes are directed to the man besides me, not minding other people.
“Apollo, where have you been? I’ve been searching this whole place, the pack needs us” he said as if he didn’t know that I was here.
Nothing’s change, it’s still the cold Alpha who rejected me. I’m just standing there, watching every move he does, everything he does.
“Sorry, we have to go” Apollo said while scratching the back of his head.
When Apollo talk to me, that’s when our eyes met. He looks at me, without any emotions, but still he looks at me.
“Okay” I replied without even looking at the beta, still drown in the eyes of the Alpha.
The Alpha walked away with his Beta behind him. I clenched my chest where my heart is beating faster and even louder, if possible.
‘The hell with you?’ Maia asked herself.
I started walking again buying some groceries.
It’s already dark when I came home.
I woke up early to prepare for my new job. I was excited and anxious at the same time.
While preparing for my work, I can’t help but to think about what happened yesterday.
I arrive at the company earlier than expected, I greet the guard when I enter the building.
I headed in the front desk where I can get my I.D. I was amazed with the way the employees threated me.
Like what I was instructed, I headed in the CEO’s floor where I can see my desk.
The floor was marbled and the interior design was amazing. I sit on my chair and started cleaning my table, the CEO was not yet here, the schedule was already given to me with the things I will need.
I checked his schedule and the emails, I even checked the files that the CEO will need. I already finished but the CEO is not here. I think he will be late for a minute.
It’s already lunch but he’s not here yet. I think he will be absent for today, I don’t have any problem about that but he should at least brief me about it.
The day has passed and like what I thought, the CEO didn’t attend for some reason.
It’s already dark when I arrive at my apartment.
I was so tired that I cannot eat food.
I was so focused with my job that I didn’t noticed it was already Sunday. I don’t have a work today so I decided to clean the house.
After cleaning the house, I just bought something to eat in the convenience store nearby.
I was busy buying some groceries when I bumped a lady.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t see you” I told her.
The girl was very pretty with an angelic face. She just smiled at me.
“It’s okay, you didn’t mean it” she said with a smile.
I returned a smile to her, she walked gracefully away from me.
My smile fades away when I saw where she was going, to whom she was going.
She’s with the Alpha, my Alpha. I can’t help but to feel jealous. He was so careful like she’s a fragile object he was afraid to break.
I just stood there, unable to walk away, even my eyes can’t help but to watch them as they were talking with each other. They look happy and contented.
I was about to wipe my tears when someone handed me a handkerchief. I look at the person who just saw me crying.
I’m not expecting that Apollo, the Beta would try to help me. I don’t realize that I was already staring at him. He wipes the tears for me.
I silently thank him when he grab my hand and leave the place. I didn’t know where we were going, the most important thing for me is that I leave that place.
I noticed that we are already walking outside the convenience store but I didn’t bother to stop, I trust him.
We’re now sitting in the seashore, near the sea, it was so calming here watching the sun sets.
I wonder, if I am one of them, would he accept me?
Would he like me as much as he likes her?
We just sit there, no one’s talking. I stand making Apollo stand too.
“I’m going home” I told him.
I walk as soon as I told him that. I didn’t wait for his response.
I walk in the street alone. It was so quiet but I didn’t care. Maybe, even if someone would point a gun with me, I wouldn’t mind.I didn’t know how I got home. Thankfully no one really point a gun at me.
I was so drained when I got home. I forgot to buy my groceries so I don’t have any food right now. I lay in my bed, staring at my celling. I don’t want to cry, I just felt the tears flowing in my cheek.
I didn’t wipe my tears, I just let it flow, feeling the pain that I have now. Maybe if I have someone to talk to, it won’t hurt like this.
